Arianne Zucker (Nicole) update lawsuit

Wilde Woman, It is so sweet of you to take the time to give me your kind words. I appreciate you. Thank you.
Oh dear I am so sorry for your problem at work. After 25 years, the company should be thanking you everyday for your dedicated service. Shame on them for not appreciating what you do and have done. If as the old saying goes "people are judged by the company they keep" I believe the opposite is so true, and "companies are judged by the people they keep" so please soapkitty, remember you are an asset to them, and more importantly an asset to yourself. Take care and remember you have so many friends here at the Salem Spectator.

Oh wow, I totally remember the clip when he was walking on Days escorted by Arianne Zucker (Nicole). I had little info on him back in the day, but I remember that she looked terrified. I wondered what was scaring her, then I realized she was uncomfortable. Apparently she had good reason, considering her boss's attitude to women.

According to an online article, Arianne Zucker (Nicole) will be permitted to sue the Fired Guy for sexual harassment and intentional infliction of emotional distress under the California Business Code. It also stated that the case will next be heard in October. It’s possible that the case will drag on for some time and then end with a settlement whose terms will be confidential. Trial judges prefer settlements. They resolve litigation without taking up valuable court time. In fact, it’s not unusual for the parties to settle after a jury has been selected. (This is what happened the last time I was on a jury. The judge called us into his chambers, told us the case was settled, and thanked us for being jury members.)

Robinsnest, that seems to be the practice everywhere. I was once on a New York jury where we delivered a verdict. It was almost ten years until I was called again, and then over fifteen years until I was on the jury where the case was settled.

Want to hear something amazing? In all these years, I have never served on a jury! Was called once, but before they even got to question me or say my name, they had their full jury so the rest of us were bid thank you, Bye!

In Illinois, I thought perhaps the fact I had 4 kids at home, put me on the do not call list. Plus huge population gave plenty of people to choose from.

Then here, in small town America, I figured for sure I would be on one eventually. Nope, not many trials I guess, lol. Maybe also, I was on the town board......who knows? But been here in town itself almost 7 years, nope...........lol, as I said, small town America, no trials, no need for jurors. I think either the persons plead guilty as were caught red handed, or things are settled "out of court".

I was summoned three times when I was married. We lived in a small town. The first time was tax season and my boss got me out of it. I had to go the 2nd time. The third time was when we moved away. My ex never got picked and I didn't know anyone who got picked three times. Lived in town almost 9 years.

Ugh I'm a regular on jury duty. I think the window used to be 3 years and I moved a lot so within months of registering to vote I got called. Last time was 8 years ago and I think I'm safe since I haven't moved and don't plan to. The only people I know ever called are people who moved.

It is interesting if you get on a jury. The initial process can be long and boring but I think it's good for people to actually understand how things work.

I hope she doesn't settle. Yes, the terms will be confidential and there will most likely be no admission of guilt. From listening to Arianne Zucker (Nicole) talk about why she brought this lawsuit it sounds like she wants to get the facts out in the open and make sure there is accountability. But I realize it's a long and exhausting process and the defendants' deep pockets will work hard to make it more so. And as you say, trial judges definitely prefer settlements. I just wish her well.

DBF I'm surprised to hear you've served on a jury. It's evident that you have a great deal of independent legal knowledge. Trial lawyers almost never want that in a juror.

Soap nut, it’s true that active or retired lawyers and judges are not wanted on jury. It’s feared that the other jurors will be swayed by this person’s expertise, meaning they’d in effect be a jury of one.

The first time I served, I hadn’t been to law school yet. The second time, I had just finished law school and was studying for the bar exam. One of the attorneys asked if I’d be judging the lawyers during the case. I honestly answered yes, and I was gone. The last time, I was surprised to be chosen, but it was only to be an alternate, so I probably wouldn’t have been around when it was time for the jury to deliberate.
