SPOILER !! Daytime Confidential reports actress leaving

Short-term. While they find another Abby, or while they figure out how to exit both of them from the canvas? Just speculating.

Short term to me shows that possibility Chad and Abigail likely will leave Salem together in time. Kate Mansi (former Abby) is returning this summer as Abby it says. I'm fine with Chad and Abby leaving Salem, they been fixated on for the past 2 to 3 years now. Let's fixate on a different couple!

The end then of the DiMera empire??? Sorry, but Stefan doesn't cut it for me, not at all. But I had the same thoughts as WhizGidget...Surprising that if the character is only around short term, the show could not talk Marci Miller (Abby) into staying on a bit longer (that is if they intend to recast again). And the same goes in the event both Chad & Abby would be leaving.

Very odd........but then maybe Abby has to go away to a special hospital????
 
I think its a good thing, I love the actors and the couple, don't get me wrong. But it is almost getting to be to the point of EJ and Sami, which ended up making over half the viewers ending up hating the couple. I rather Chad and Abby leave the canvas before that even happens, since they are portrayed a lot. At least now they can make room for another couple to take the lime light, someone unpredicted or not showcased.

As for the DiMera empire, we still have Tony, Kristen, and EJ who are potentially alive somewhere.
 
They are all dead, and hopefully, stay dead. If Tony had not had the pole go thru his body on camera, I'd say there might be hope for him. I don't want to see ever, the other two. But Days loves to inexplicably bring dead characters back to life, don't they?

Andre and Tony were having a battle royal in a quicksand, Andre went down, his hand being the last thing we saw as he sunk beneath the quicksand, while Tony was helped out. by a native girl. And yet, Andre managed to turn up again, no explanation. LOL And then there is Rolf, who died, died, died, even was blown up, and when he showed up, & Sami said....but, you died..........Rolf's reply..."It didn't take".

And of course now, we have Will. So, who knows? But I truly hope the DiMera thing is over. Stefano was a great villain......but he would show up for several months, create havoc, then was gone. Only to return some months later, same thing. Once he was in Salem permanently, no longer that great villain. Loved the actor!
 
I personally wouldn't mind a new villain and just let Tony DiMera and Anna gradually run DiMera safely with Chad and Abby off screen. There's always going to be a need for a villain. I wouldn't mind a repeat of the Vitalis or even the Toscanos to mess with the Kiriakis family.
 
Sure would like to be a fly on the wall backstage. There has to be more to all this than we will ever see in the media.

And every time an actor leaves a show, it is always to "pursue prime time and movies" or some such.

But actually, I really would like to see Clyde Weston return. He & his son made good villains. However, really would rather a new villain family or individual. Once upon a time, Kiriakis was the villain, trading off with Stefano, aided by Andre. The Kiriakis family gave up most of their evil ways (not all), Chad has tried his best to do the same with the DiMeras.

And if they want to keep Stefan, fine. Then return him to being Sam Maitland (as his beloved Gabby always called him that) and let him bring a couple relatives, friends, into the fold. They can buy out DiMeras, Chad & Abby can leave town if they want, tho would prefer they stay. But, heck, bet it is getting time for new headwriter to bring on a new character HE creates. ???

Would love Robert Scott Wilson (Ben) to come on as new character, even his twin brother. LOL
 
I have watched Days for 50 years and I find the Chad Abby/Gabby storyline lame.

Marci Miller (Abby) has been cast in a CBS drama, Gods of Medicine. The description says it's a type of "doctors without borders" show and 10 episodes have already been shot. I liked her as Abigail; she was not as one dimensional as her predecessor. Will be interesting to see how Abigail is taken off the canvas with Kate Mansi (former Abby).
 
I was resistant to Marci Miller as Abby for quite awhile. She appeared too weak and weepy to me. Since the alters arrived in Salem, I think Marci Miller has been doing a terrific job! I think she grew incredibly as an actor through the months of her stay in Salem!!! I did like Kate Mansi (former Abby) very much and will be happy to see her back in Salem! That said, I will miss Marci Miller as well.

I love Kate Mansi (former Abby), but I love Marci Miller (Abby) now as well. I feel like the Abby character has been a revolving door for actresses. More child actresses than I can remember, then the girl who graduated to Pretty Little Liars, then Kate Mansi, then Marci Miller, now back to Kate and possibly a whole other new one?

At some point I need Jennifer to say something along the lines of, "My gosh, you look so different every time I see you!"

Personally, I actually rather the writers just write out Chad and Abby if we have to endure a brand new actress after Kate Mansi (former Abby) takes over. Unless the writers decide to keep Chad around and put him back with Gabi.

LOL....Just like on Roseanne, when Becky was replaced.
:)OT: I understand that on the reboot of Roseanne, not only is original Becky back, but her replacement as well, playing a different character! :back:)

Since Kate Mansi (former Abby) is back short term, going to be interesting why/how the character of Abby is dealt with. Recast? Written out?

If Marci Miller (Abby) has been planning to leave for some time......wonder why, and it isn't just to act in prime time. Heck, the way Days actors disappear for weeks at a time, plus closing down filming a week each month, they all have the option for vacations, other projects....etc.

Lecy Goranson, the original Becky, plays Becky. Sarah Chalke, the 2nd Becky, played a childless woman named Andrea who hired Becky to be her surrogate. But Becky lied about her age and when they went to the doctor's for the initial exam, he said Becky's eggs were too old. Andrea wished her well in life and left. Unless they have another reason for them to interact, I think Sarah Chalke (2nd Becky) is done now.

There have only been three grown Abby actresses: Ashley Benson, Kate Mansi and Marci Miller.
 
I think it's been said that the character of Mike Horton is the most recast soap character ever (on all the soaps). Although to be fair, there were only 4 grown/adult actors in the role from 1974 to the present. The other 12 played Mike as a baby/child.
