Jennifer tells of sharing the same bed with someone for so many years how can she feel waking without him?
Julie's in bed sleeping, reaches over to where Doug would have been. A flashback of VERY young Julie and Doug. Julie then looks at a picture of her and Doug and snuggles into his pillow.
Back in a prison, a young man is reading the Ballad of Davey Crockett, it has Doug’s picture on it.
Lucas and Jennifer talk about how they love the house. How Doug would give you a big huge hug every time you’d see him. Lucas thought he was the black sheep of the family. Doug always went out of the way to make him feel part of the family.
Shawn and Ciara come into the room; they want to be part of the family love.
Julie is dressed as she comes out of the bathroom and spies Doug’s wedding ring. She picks it up and tries it on. Flashback of a wedding to Doug. Julie sees someone outside her window. It's Steven (her brother). He says hey sis, long time no see.
Marlena asks Liz how long has it's been? Liz replies, I left Salem in 1986 they both say it’s been a LONG time. Marlena is pleased she came back for Doug’s service. Liz asks after Julie. They sit and drink tea, Liz invites Marlena and John to spend time with her in Los Angeles. Marlena asks after Noel. She’s fine, has a good job and has serious boyfriend, and Liz has two sons, all grown up.
Marlena would love to meet the boys sometime. They have to find a way to get all the families together. Liz is sorry they’ve lost touch. They got close when Stefano kidnapped them. Marlena agrees that was a bonding experience. Marlena adds sadly for her it became a recurring experience. Liz tells Marlena she misses everyone is Salem, well, except for that wretched Marie Horton. Marlena just smiles.
Maggie and Marie still at the town square continue to talk. Marie tells Maggie she is sorry to hear of her husband’s passing. Maggie thanks her for the lovely flowers. Marie says you know Salem has lost a lot of extraordinary men of late. First Victor and now Doug. That wonderful man who lifted everyone’s spirits. Marie still can’t believe that Mickey is gone, as is Tommy, Addie, Bill, and her parents. There’s not a day that goes by that Marie doesn’t think of each and every one of them. Maggie tells of the legacy Alice and Tom left.
Jennifer hugs Ciara and Shawn, then asks after Hope. When will she be coming? Shawn tells Jennifer that well, Hope, won’t be coming. After Jennifer called and told Hope the news of her dad’s passing, Hope went to the hospital to be with his dad. Hope told Bo of Doug’s passing and well, he squeezed her hand. So, Bo’s waking up? The doctors don’t know. Jennifer and Lucas are happy that Bo’s waking up and understand why Hope won’t leave Bo’s side now. They assure Shawn and Ciara that Julie will understand too.
Julie helps Steven crawl through the window, repeating his name over and over. Julie tells Steven she’s thrilled to see him but why is he crawling through her bedroom window? Steven tells Jules that this was his means of entry into Grandma and Grandpa’s house when we were kids. Now, Julie remembers, Grandma was certain he’d fall to his death. Julie demands a hug, Steven obliges with a warm hug.
Shawn's looking at a picture while Jennifer is looking at pictures on Ciara’s phone of Baby Bo, he is a little man, and precious Addie, look at her. Addie just turned 1, she is named after her grandma. Shawn asks about the time capsule? It’s still not open. Jennifer had it in Boston with her, then brought it back to Salem. Ciara offers to try to open it.
Steven and Julie talk about keeping in touch, texts twice a year is not keeping in touch. Steven says when he heard about Doug, he knew he had to be there. Steven talks of fellow con man with a heart of gold. Flashback to Doug talking with Steven telling him that Doug would make sure Harold Trask will get his cashier’s check back while Steven will come up with a story on why Steven dissolves the silent partnership. Steven wants to give the check back himself; Doug tells him we will do it my way. Doug allows this break for Julie and the family. Julie hopes Steven isn’t in town because he’s on the run from the police. Steven says no. Julie tells Steven about her grandson, her grandson who works for the FBI. Steven takes in that news.
