SPOILER !! Week Nov 25

Considering how far ahead they are in taping, this could've also been the first opportunity to write in Doug's death after Bill Hayes actually died.

When he died in January, they were taping September's episodes. So they would've had to work his death into the storylines, plus arrange to bring in as many vets as they could, like Kristian Alfonso (Hope), Peter Reckell (Bo), Stephen Schnetzer (Julie's brother Steven), Matt Ashford (Jack), Melissa Reeves (Jennifer), etc.
 
I'm trying not to be cynical but it did occur to me that many people will have their black Friday deals from last year expiring and this could be a way to get people to stay signed up.

The non cynical side of me thought it was a good way for them to have family around for the holidays since they're bringing them in for the death. I'm at least thinking that the funeral will be somewhat close to the death. Last year's holidays were so sparse and if I remember correctly the people they had together didn't even always make sense.
 
Yes I would have preferred that Doug be off-screen and lots of folks talking about him but noticing he's getting ill - this might be our last Turkey Day, etc. - and then he passes early December with the family sticking around for that. But, I don't know how hard it was to juggle the needed actors' schedules. I trust the new EP.
