Wayne Northrop (original Roman) has died

Wayne Northrop will always be the real Roman Brady for me. Really sad to hear of his passing.

I think this is probably the last time he did anything related to the show, was when he attended Deidre Hall's (Marlena) Walk of Fame ceremony in 2016. He and Josh Taylor (current Roman) are kissing her.

He also came to the set for Alison Sweeney's (Sami) going away party in 2014:

Here's Marlena and her two Romans:

Bo’s relationship with his brother was the first relationship that showed who Bo is on the show. Working with him was effortless, his sense of humor was wicked. Wayne was my brother and my heart goes out to Lynn.

Days has lost so many of its long time actors in a short time. Drake Hogestyn (John), Wayne Northrop (Roman), John Aniston (Victor), Joe Mascolo (Stefano), in addition to longtime ones who just left for whatever reason, like Bo, Hope, Stefan, Vivian, Steve, Kayla, Jack, Jennifer, Carrie....(tho a few of the latter return for a very short gig at times.

TMZ also posted a story:

There's a YouTube clip of Deidre Hall (Marlena), Wayne Northrop (Roman), Susan Seaforth Hayes (Julie), Bill Hayes (Doug) and a few other soap stars (Kim Zimmer/Reva from GL is one) on Oprah within the TMZ article.

I’m so sorry to hear of Wayne’s passing. I only worked with him briefly, but I remember him as being super funny & whip smart. Having lost my Mom to Alzheimer’s, I know the complicated grief that comes with a loss like this. Praying for peace and healing for those close to him.

Sending much love to @TheLynnHerring and the whole Northrup family today. My first scenes as Sami were with Wayne - I remember him helping me understand how to pretend to break into the Brady house with a bobby-pin. He was a wonderful, kind man, a talented, generous actor and a beloved member of the Days family. I learned so much from working with Wayne and will treasure the memories with him. Rest in peace, Wayne.

I agree.

In the same way, I view Kyle Lowder as the real Brady Black and Eric Winter as the real Rex Brady even though I obviously like Kyle Lowder. And I like Josh Taylor as Roman, but Wayne Northrop was the first Roman I saw.

I still think of Wayne Northrop's Roman Brady when I hear the name Roman Reigns (Samoan wrestler) or any other person called Roman. On a related note, I've always thought retired pro wrestler Bret Hart resembled Wayne Northrop.
