old soaps

It appears you can watch Coronation Street online for free on Tubi, Pluto or Amazon's Freevee:

I was addicted to Santa Barbara in 1987 and 1988, and good timing too as Steve and Kayla were stuck in the Jack years and I found them too sad for words through that rape story. Having said that, as soon as the Dobsons were fired from SB I pretty much quit that show. I hung around for Justin Deas but once he left so did I. Fortunately he turned up on Guiding Light a few years later.

If I'm remembering correctly, the CBS lineup in the 50's was As the World Turns - 30 min
Secret Storm, Love of Life, Guiding Light and Search for Tomorrow - all 15 min
Then Edge of Night - 30 min
My mother kept the TV on CBS all day

I think my unmarried sister was in love with A Marinez (Cruz) from Santa Barbara. She was never out of way, but she lived and died with Cruz and Eden. She was actually in A's home. Legally!!

Oh, my gosh, I remember those, cuz when home sick, all one had was radio. I remember One Man's Family, (just the title, nothing about it), wasn't there one called Ma Perkins?

I never watched Search for Tomorrow, but when they announced their final episode, I purposely tuned in........Matt Ashford (Jack on Days) was on it. Always liked him, no idea why Days doesn't use him more.......guess cuz Melissa Reeves (Jennifer) moved to Tennessee and wanted out completely.
Poirot, I checked on “Ma Perkins” and found that it was a long-running radio soap in which Ma, who ran the local lumberyard, dispensed romantic advice to the lovelorn locals. (Shouldn’t Salem have a lumberyard?) It was sponsored by the detergent Oxydol, which, according to Wikipedia, is still around somewhere.
