Leo is on again

Titan offices. Philip is on the phone with unseen Kate. He's saying he's unsure if they got through to Sarah. Xander probably knows he's an heir pretender. He also knows how to aim a gun. So he's just waiting for him to come through the door and shoot him dead. And enter Xander, looking threatening.

Stephanie is reading a Spectator article about the Kiriakis brothers sharing Titan. She grouses that Philip has no right to it. Phone rings and unseen Abe updates her about Rafe going to Rochester. Stephanie wonders why Paulina is funding this since it's Leo's problem? He should spend some of his head writer salary on it.

Leo is still with Javi and the I love Rochester shirt looking for Rafe

Jada is still accusing EJ of doing something to Rafe. He refuses to go to the station with her. Arnold emerges from the tunnels and Jada loses it.

Arnold asks why Jada is here? She has been trying to reach him for days. And Steve says he did not send him on any undercover mission. She accuses EJ of being up to something with Rafe. She demands answers. Arnold splutters that its time to tell the truth. EJ looks anguished.

Philip tells Kate it was nice knowing her. He greets Xander cautiously. Xander says he has something for him and unzips his bag. Philip looks like he's unzipping his bowels. Xander pulls out a croissant from Sweet Bits. Philip asks if it's poisoned? Xander says it's a peace offering.

Sarah is now with Stephanie. She asks if Xander is thrilled to have his fortune back and/or is he plotting Philip's murder. Sarah says neither as she didn't tell him. She wanted to talk to Philip first. She recaps her encounter with Kate and Philip. She cites her own mental illness history and that she came around to their argument that Victor would have wanted this. She decided to keep the secret.

Kerry has run into Gabi. She notes he has no sweatshirt. They talk about the wedding planning. Gabi wishes Javi was as interested in his paying job. Kerry complains about Leo.

Leo asks Javi and the sweatshirt to let Rafe know he stopped by. He has new information on the Lady Whistleblower case. They figured out where she might be from. We pan to the stupid Rochester shirt again in case you have forgotten.

Arnold and his dog tags jingle out a confession. EJ warns him but Arnold says Steve didn't send him on a case. EJ blurts out he hired him. He then spins a story about wanting Sloan tracked down. It's an outrage she never paid for snagging Jude. Jada says Eric is the one who deserves justice. EJ has time on his hands and Sloan made a fool of him and blew up his life. So he hired Rafe. Jada asks Arnold why he would lie to her?

Speaking of lies, Stephanie is shocked that Sarah would lie to Xander. Sarah says it's a lie by omission. Stephanie points out it's a huge deal. Sarah says it's not just because she feels bad for Philip. She hates the idea of Xander having unchecked power. She recounts Philip stopping him from pursuing a hostile takeover of DiMera. Stephanie knows from experience that's a seriously bad idea. Sarah says Philip specifically didn't want Stephanie caught in the crossfire. Sarah says Philip isn't level headed but as it stands Xander has to go through him before he can make impulsive decisions and that can only be good for all.

Stephanie says so Philip is a roadblock. Sarah replies he's going to slow Xander down and speak to his better angels. She notes Stephanie wondered if Xander had murdered Philip yet. Sarah would not put it past him to lash out if he found out the truth. She says that the situation has been fraught since Xander found out about the will. She needs to know what Stephanie thinks. Will she keep the secret?

Philip regards the bag suspiciously. He wants to know why the peace offering? Xander tells him about his talk with Maggie. She made the argument that Victor would have wanted them to work together. Or he would not have written The Letter. He's decided to work in harmony with Philip and hopes he will do the same. He wonders why Philip was telling his mum about Xander wanting to kill him? When he walked in all the color drained out of his face. Philip looked like he was bracing for him to pull out a revolver rather than a croissant. What's up with that?

Philip says he was telling Kate about the DiMera deal he squashed. He says he has a right to be nervous given recent history. Xander says his emotions were running high that day and he regrets it but he's not going to fly into a psychotic rage over a business deal. He wants things to work. He needs it to. They are stuck together forever. He wasn't happy but Sarah thought he was right to block the DiMera deal. Sarah is his voice of reason. He trusts her instincts. Now is Philip on board to make this work? No more scheming or machinations? Xander wants a true 50/50 partnership. Philip says he wants to come clean. He's sorry they got off to a rocky start. But that's not what he's most sorry about. If the show thinks for a minute I'm supposed to believe he's going to fess up they truly do think their audience is stupid.

Sarah continues her weak arguments to keep things quiet. Stephanie says she will feel like a willing accomplice but she also doesn't want Philip in jail or pounded to a pulp by Xander. She will defer to Sarah as Xander's wife and keep the secret.

Leo and Javi continue their boring conversation. Javi is appalled at how mean Lady W is about Leo and hopes someone murders her in print.

Gabi and Kerry bond over their mutual Leo dislike. Kerry tells her that Javi and Leo are friendly again. He says Leo has a reputation for jumping on anything that moves so he's probably already making a move on Javi. Gabi says over her dead body.

Arnold tells Jada he's sorry but EJ told him to keep things on the down low because she's the police. He keeps going with a lame recounting of the story. He has to prove himself (to Steve and John). He wants to wait until he has a solid lead. EJ tries to help by pointing out how sneaky Sloan is. Jada asks why he's looking for her in the secret room? He hasn't come home since New year's. Why is he hiding out here?

Arnold says he was out of town chasing a lead and was giving EJ a report and he used the tunnels so nobody saw him use the front door. He says he is charging EJ a small fortune, which will come in handy for his wedding gift to her. He needs to treat her like the queen she is. EJ is starting to feel like a third wheel. Arnold hopes Jada believes him.

Oh look, it's I Love Rochester again. Javi thinks Leo should write a guest column once he outs the fake Lady Whistleblower. The fantasy of that keeps Leo going. And caffeine. Javi goes to get more coffee. He flashes the sweatshirt just as Leo checks his phone. Abe hates his Faith exit story. Javi returns with coffee. Javi says Kerry rolls out of bed just on herbal tea. Leo is glad he has someone. The shirt still remains a mystery to him as Javi is front facing once more.

Xander wants to know what Philip is sorry about? What did he do? Philip says it's not what he did, it's what his father did. He corrects: our father. He's sorry he kept the truth from him for all those years. Xander notes that's hardly his fault. Philip knows Victor abused Xander. He treated him like something on the bottom of his shoe while Xander probably thought Philip had the perfect childhood. He tells Xander that Victor had a stroke and wasn't there when he was small, then went overboard as the ultimate helicopter parent. He was a control freak who tried to mold him into his image. But he was a huge disappointment.

Xander tells him to get in line. Philip says Victor treated him the way he did because Xander was the most like him. He saw that. As for Philip, he died before he could get his act together. But he feels him watching. This is his last chance to prove himself. Xander says same. Philip wonders how different things would be if they'd known they were brothers from the start. So does Xander. They share a beat, wondering this.

Philip feels he should be worried about how uncharacteristically understanding Xander is being. Xander is trying his best. He promised Maggie and Sarah. Philip appreciates the peace offering and says they should share. Xander breaks it in two and tells Philip he gave him the bigger piece. Philip gobbles it like a toddler.

Sarah thanks Stephanie who hopes she has thought this through. She's cheating Xander out of half his inheritance. Sarah thinks this is the right thing to do. Stephanie asks what if the truth comes out? Sarah says that's a gamble she is having to take.

Jada believes this garbage. Next time he's not to scare her. He's sorry. EJ concurs he's sorry. Jada asks about the weird text (with XOXO). Arnold says he was overcome with love as EJ rolls his eyes. Next time he will send a heart emoji. Jada has to go to the station. Arnold is staying so EJ can write him a check. He calls her Honey Bear and says XOXO. Jada departs. EJ says that was way too close.

Jada is telling Kerry about Arianna and her gay dads. Leo almost broke them up too. She will never forgive him. Kerry says guess no Leo sleepovers Chez Hernandez. She says it would give her the chance to smother him in his sleep. Kerry jokes that would be daring with Jada down the hall. He's her man for a cover up. They are glad they ran into each other. They toast to Leo staying out of their lives.

Leo has to go write his show. As he leaves he finally sees the shirt. Javi says he hopes he can unmask Lady Whistleblower.

Sarah finds Philip alone. She tells him she didn't say anything and Stephanie is keeping quiet too. There is one caveat. It's a huge deal for her to stay quiet and Philip has to work with Xander. He can't be a constant thorn in his side or the deal is off. Philip understands. He knows he does not deserve this. He owes her big time. Xander, entering: owes her for what?

Concluding scenes:

Sarah kisses Xander and tells him she was encouraging him to get along with Philip. She believes this can work. So does Xander. Philip does too.

Stephanie tells Jada that she and Philip are over and she will be attending the wedding solo. Jada tells her she tracked down Rafe and wedding plans are full steam ahead.

Arnold nearly gave EJ a heart attack. Arnold says he did good. He's not a total idiot. He wants that check. EJ says he's decided Arnold may be useful to him as Rafe after all. Arnold makes gross remarks about sweet Jada. EJ says he is not allowed to lay any body parts on Jada and he has an idea of how to make it all work.

Kerry calls Javi. He just loves his borrowed sweatshirt. Do you get it viewers?? It's Kerry's shirt. Kerry hopes Javi is not wearing it next time they meet. Wink Wink

Flustered Leo's on phone refusing to rewrite anything (Faith's exit). He doesn't need Rafe to go to Rochester anymore. He knows who Lady Whistleblower is. And that's our dramatic conclusion. I know we are all so very excited.

Philip says he treated him the way he did because Xander was the most like him. He saw that. As for Philip, he died before he could get his act together. But he feels him watching. This is his last chance to prove himself.
Does this stuff have a different writer? Also, it should have happened MONTHS ago.

So does Leo think it's Javi again? Or does he know Kerry is from Rochester or the shirt is Kerry’s?

April 24 @Poirot

I'm offended at the Sarah stuff. I do not believe for a moment she could keep something this huge from Xander. Victor's validation means everything to him. She is robbing him of that. But I don't hate Sarah. I hate Ron. This is the clown story just reversed. I loathed that too.

I hate Leo thinking it is Javi. How about him saying, "Oh, cute sweatshirt, did you visit Rochester?" Never assume!

I hope Kerry does not try to hurt nor get rid of Leo. I want him found out.

Arnold truly faked out Jada, despite her eyeballing him thoroughly. How long can this go on? Will he be the one to marry Jada?

It won't be long before "breaking the croissant" will not matter, Xander and Philip will not be getting along soon enough.

Because this time she is lying to her husband and denying him his true birthright. With Brady they were both utterly honest with each other. This is a betrayal that Xander will not easily forgive.
While full transparency is important, it doesn't address the recurring issue in their marriage: Xander's homicidal urges. Just like with booze and Maggie, Sarah is removing the temptation, making a unilateral decision, much like Xander has done repeatedly.

I blame Ron. Under the strike writers, Sarah was mature and anchored Xander. He was a man who would never risk doing anything to be away from her again. As soon as Ron returned he threw all that away. Xander with the baseball bat I was fine with. Plotting Brady's death nope. Pulling the trigger on Philip with his child in the house, ridiculous. The one good thing was he kept his marriage vow to be utterly honest. Sarah suddenly being the liar seems like Ron thinking it was fun to swap them around this time as Xander is always the one with the secret. But I don't buy it. Is it April yet??

If Ron's writing leaves us on April 30th, then 105 more days to go.

I hope we see more and more of the other writers stories starting to take hold and they start and end with a cohesive middle in the lifetime of the average fruit fly. Not Ronny's start-meander-end, when no one remembers what started this story as it's changed a bit.

I did like one part of today and that was the brothers Kiriaki. They have so much shared Victor trauma. For the first time Xander seemed to realize that Philip had a terrible time growing up with Victor trying to mold him. And Philip acknowledged how awful Victor was to Xander and why.

My favorite moment was when they almost wistfully wondered what it would have been like to have each other growing up. These two brothers were likely born around the same time. Imagine if Victor had brought Xander home instead of leaving him to be neglected by Fiona? They could have forged a life long bond.

Victor's validation means everything to him. She is robbing him of that. But I don't hate Sarah. I hate Ron. This is the clown story just reversed.
Agreed, I hate the Sarah angle too. I'll add this to the pile of proof that re-Ron hates Xander so he’s writing him a trash story.
but it's more soapdumb
I will laugh at this joke when I stop crying over the tragedy that has befallen the show, and, indeed, the genre.
I second everything you say here. Characters switching long-held beliefs on a dime is pure soap drivel from a bored writer. Douglas Marland is spinning in his grave. More proof for my re-Ron "burn book".

Because this time she is lying to her husband and denying him his true birthright. With Brady they were both utterly honest with each other. This is a betrayal that Xander will not easily forgive.
It's Philip's birthright, also. I guess being mentally ill denies you of any future benefits. I'll take Philip over Xander any day and I never cared for Philip. If these old men had lived more moral lives and not had kids with half a dozen women, they wouldn't have all these problems. Yes, it's a soap, but they could come up with better stories.

It wasn't about being mentally ill. He tanked as CEO more than once while completely sane. I do think Victor's plan was always for his two sons to inherit together, going back to when he pushed the co CEO thing 5 years back.

At least Victor only had 4 kids. I've lost count of Stefano's.

Stefano has/had 12 kids (for now):

1. Tony (legal) - alive
2. Andre (bio) - dead
3. Renee (bio) - dead
4. Megan (bio) - alive
5. Kristen (legal) - alive
6. Peter (legal) - alive
7. Lexie (bio) - dead
8. Benjy (bio) - dead
9. EJ (bio) - alive
10. Chad (bio) -alive
11. Stefan (bio) - alive
12. Jake (bio) - dead
