Townhouse Shot, Johnson Apartment - Steve and Kayla enjoy cookies and kiss. He leaves, as he is leaving, Stephanie arrives. Steve has Black Patch business. Stephanie speaks of the woes of PR for Body & Soul, notably the sex of Alex and Joy which upsets her. Kayla heard from Seth what happened on set (e.g., her daughter having sex at work with a functional relative). She talks about Philip kissing her after their foul victory. But they're not dating. Really. Kayla frets about the criminal-adjacent Kiriakis family.

Square - Inattentive Alex and Philip slam into each other while on their phones. They blah blah about Titan, Xander, and Stephanie for a decade.

Police Station Establishing Shot - Jada in a white top walks into the office. Paulina is there, congratulates her for arresting Hattie Adams. Jada blames Rafe for Hattie's getting away. Actually just for getting a lawyer which really shouldn't be a problem, but somehow is. Paulina tells Jada this is her problem. They go round and round pointlessly, the upshot is that Paulina thinks Rafe could learn things at home that interfere with the investigation even though that's not what happened this time. Paulina wonders if they can offer Rafe more money to re-hire him. Jada says there's no room (as she has hired Shawn-D and offered JJ a job) and also he loves his job and didn't love being fired. Jada knows being a detective is important to Rafe. Paulina needs this straightened out and the poisoner arrested or she'll have to make another commissioner change.

DiMansion - Replay of EJ opening the door. EJ is angry to see "Hernandez?". Rafe? lets himself in. He's wearing a brown jacket. EJ throws a few barbs at him, he says he’s not Rafe. He's Arnold Feniger (CC spelling). EJ tells him he's supposed to be in Argentina, playing dead. Fenigar ran out of money. EJ and Stefano arranged the incident in the cell (because they knew how incompetent Bo Brady would be), and in lieu of a well-placed flashback. we are shown a newly-created re-enactment of the attack (two thugs in blue instead of four in orange). This sets up that the thugs work for DiMera, etc., and we see another hazy new flashback scene of Arnold being drugged. The jungle was hot. Feniger wants more money. Johnny enters, "Rafe?, what are you doing here?"

Pub - Rafe (wearing a black trenchcoat) has an update for Steve and a check from Leo. Steve thinks they'll get more if they get the real imposter. Rafe talks about how Jada is mad at him for apprehending Hattie. He thought Jada would be proud. They talk about who has the advantage and it seems (might just be my impression) that Rafe feels bad that he doesn't have to follow the same rules as a PI that Jada does as a cop. He is reconsidering his work. He and Steve discuss this idea. Steve needs a detective and Rafe needs a job; he offers to talk to Jada if needed. Rafe says that's not necessary, but he loves the job. Taking it out with Steve helped.

DiMansion - Feniger doesn’t recognize Johnny. (Johnny thinks it's Rafe.) EJ smooths things over. Feniger says he was perfecting his tough-guy PI persona. EJ claims he needs to hire some extra investigators but can't discuss specifics with Johnny.

Square - Alex and Philip are square, or fine, or whatever. Stephanie comes up. Alex leaves. Philip asks if she'd like to see where things go. He asks if she has plans on New Year's Eve, she doesn't, will join him.

Johnson Apartment - Steve returns and wants cookies. Kayla offers him kisses instead. Kayla does not update him about their daughter's love life because it will probably change by the time she arrives for Christmas dinner (Kayla's actual statement, no exaggeration). They discuss the Jada/Rafe quandary.

Hernandez House - Rafe is sorry. Jada is sorry. Rafe is sorry. Etc. Rafe asks how it went with the mayor, Jada defended Rafe because he did the right thing. How can they make this better? Figure it out as they go along. They love one another and seal it with smooches.

DiMansion - Johnny is glad EJ and "Rafe" are getting along. It's a Christmas miracle. Johnny leaves. EJ says this is the last withdrawal from the Bank of DiMera. Feniger doesn’t think so. He gets comfy and asks if EJ's redecorated. He's sticking around awhile. EJ fumes. END

Thank you Jason, I know it was not easy watching this episode, seemed to have been written by high school freshman students having fun as they try to write a script for a storyline they can't figure out how to begin, write a middle, or an end.

Yeah, Jada dresses like it is mid-summer, but at least puts on a coat. Meanwhile, guys are coming in from outside in suits, no jackets. Gee, Christmas week in Salem, near Chicago, no snow, wind, or even cold. Very unusual (too bad the writers and other crew keep forgetting Salem is in the midwest, not southern CA. lol)

Days really needs to have someone in charge of COMMON SENSE.

The Brady Pub has Christmas tablecloths.

ReRon is so nice. We get B&S and Fake Rafe for the holiday season.

When Paulina was talking to Jada about Rafe, I wondered if she was going to suggest Rafe and
Jade be co-commissioners.

Nice to see Stephanie with her parents. Too bad she didn't have a long scene with Steve.

Nice to hear Steve say Little Sweetness and Stephanie say Papa.

Johnny saw Fake Rafe and he didn't question if it was real Rafe since he was drinking. Maybe
people won't think he's Fake Rafe since he's supposed to be dead.

I enjoyed Steve and Rafe's conversation. Steve talks about the police playing with their
nightsticks and not looking for Hattie.
 
I know how the Salem PD can save some money so the Mayor doesn't have to throw more money at it. Turn down the heat if Jada is so warm that a nice sleeveless option is comfy. It's got to be 90 in there.

Also Paulina, after Rafe got off sick leave that was an on-the-job injury, you didn't give him his job back, you demoted him In Ron's world, the leaving this alone may make sense. In the real world, Paulina might be having the Salem attorney's office doing quite a battle.

What a completely stupid show for any day, let alone Christmas week when folks might be home watching with other people. This wouldn't entice anyone to start watching. A super missed opportunity, again.

We have no real snow. It has mostly melted what we had. We are to have temps in the upper 40's and 50's. Next week, who knows!!! (0 miles sw of Chicago.) However, no one is wearing sleeveless blouses. One more thought, I loved fake Rafe poking EJ's dimple. I bet it was an ad lib.
That should say 90 miles from Chicago.

Can't stand Fake Rafe. Are we all thinking that he will try to get cozy with Jada? Since Fake Rafe is supposed to be dead, Rafe would not have mentioned him to her, so she is completely clueless as to his existence. Is she that good of a detective to figure out he isn't Rafe should she encounter him?

Looks like Stephanie is ready to rock with Philip, even though she is obviously still interested in Alex.

DiMansion did look beautiful. Too bad several ugly (soul) people live there.

Overall, a blah episode but did enjoy Steve and Kayla and Steve and Rafe.

He could've told her about the experience, though, as in "hey, several years ago, the DiMeras gave some flunky major plastic surgery to be my double, just to break up my marriage to Sami, and planned to kill me in the process, but I escaped and Arnold was killed in his jail cell."
 
I wish they had characters celebrate today that more than likely won't be on tomorrow. Like they could have done Rafe, Jada, Gabi and Javier, and they could have done EJ, Kristen, Johnny, Chad and the kids.

They could have chosen to pick up the fake Rafe storyline after Christmas.

The Johnson family scenes were nice. Otherwise, what a blah episode. I'm not thrilled about FakeRafe being alive, let alone back in Salem. This better blow up in EJ's face, and fast. I don't want this storyline dragging for as long as the original one did.

Paulina continues to be annoying. I don't get why Jada keeps working for her when Paulina always lambasts her and threatens to fire her for the silliest of reasons. I'd rather she quits and goes to work with Black Patch too. Or she and Rafe can set up their own similar organization.

The love triangle with Alex, Stephanie, and Philip is so ridiculous mostly because it's based on an equally-stupid lie. I like Stephanie with Alex; it makes no sense for her to even think about reuniting with Philip, who is insane and hasn't been with her in many years anyway!

I watch regularly, and I had to search out the show, again. They should be promoting it instead of their silly movie acquisitions and NBC's shows that are rerunning here. (Or in addition to, but apparently, there's limited space.)

I really wish they'd brought John Paul Lavoisier on as Joseph or Victor II instead of as Philip. They could have basically the same story aside from boinking Stephanie, although I'm sure the fact that they were adopted would make re-Ron give it a go anyway. They would have made more compelling mates for Joy perhaps? I believe they were still young when Philip was aged.
 
Glad I wasn’t writing the summary for this one because I don’t remember a lick of the Fake Rafe storyline. Must have been a time when I was “casually” watching. I remember it was a story and that Sami was involved somehow but that’s about it. Might need someone to create a thread and give us a recap on who this guy is and why we should care that he’s in town. Lol
 
Biggest thing to remember is that EJ put Arnold into Sami's bed to essentially rape her. He told Stefano and they literally laughed about it. The whole point of Fake Rafe was to break up Sami and Rafe because Johnny adored Rafe, which EJ obviously hated. He figured if Rafe was gone, then Johnny would love him (EJ) more. Remember little Johnny and the FBI jacket that Rafe gave him?

At first, they kept Rafe locked in a jail cell in the DiMansion basement. Then he was moved to a sanitarium and given drugs to wipe his memories with the eventual plan to kill him. He escaped and made his way back to Salem where he regained his memory at some point. I think he had flashes of memory, then when he saw Sami, all of his memories came flooding back.

Fake Rafe also terrorized little Allie. At one point, Stefano was going to have Allie kidnapped and removed from Salem. EJ actually had a bit of heart and told Kate (on the down low) to have Lucas come and take Allie to Hong Kong with him, so Stefano couldn't have her kidnapped. Once Fake Rafe was arrested and then killed, Allie came home to Salem. Sami and Rafe had to sit down and explain to her about the two Rafes and how the bad man who was pretending to be Rafe was gone forever and could never hurt her again.

Oh, and Arnold caused the death of Nicole's mother, Fay Walker. She overheard EJ, Stefano and Fake Rafe discussing their plan and tried to run upstairs to tell Nicole. Fake Rafe went after her, they struggled on the steps in the DiMansion, then he threw her down the staircase. She was clinging to life and taken to the hospital. Fay tried to tell Nicole and Taylor, but was too weak, all she managed to say was that EJ had a secret. Later, Fake Rafe slipped into her hospital room, smothered her with a pillow and killed her.

It was after the truth about Fake Rafe came out that Sami basically blackmailed EJ into signing over full custody of Johnny and Sydney to her.
 
Here's the summary of the day Stefano was going to have Allie kidnapped and removed from Salem, which EJ ultimately didn't agree with. So he told Kate to have Lucas bring Allie to Hong Kong, immediately.

Rafe 1 is asleep on his cot, dreaming of Rafe 2 beating him up (like we need to see that again!) as Stefano pounds and shakes the cell bars to wake him up. Stefano has heard of Rafe 1’s little adventure yesterday. Rafe replies he just needed some air. Stefano remarks it is too bad little Allie is going to have to pay, chuckling as Rafe begs him to leave Allie alone, but Stefano departs.

Over at the hospital, Sami is watching over Johnny with Lexie, wondering why EJ is not there, seeing as Johnny has had the surgery. But EJ is hooking up with Rafe 2 in the...
