I'm confused. How is Xander greedy? He is just doing what EJ was planning to do to Titan when he was CEO last year. It's just business.
EJ was planning to go the legal route—buying up shares instead of bribing board members. But seriously, is Xander even capable of doing anything without breaking the law? Brushing off Philip's concerns about the likely fallout from a new Kiriakis-DiMera war is especially shortsighted, considering he’s the one with a wife and child to think about.

I wonder, tho, if perhaps Sophia is not even pregnant???
She asked him to come to her first doctor's appointment. I don't think she'd do that if she was faking being pregnant, since the doctor would be able to tell.
Yes, I guess I wasn't clear, I did think for a bit she might not be pregnant, but subequently, it was obvious she is..........

I don't think using EJ as an example of a law abiding citizen is a good one, considering he's currently holding Rafe prisoner in his basement.

And Kristen dangled a serum to cure Sarah's paralysis in front of him and demanded his family legacy in return. He wants to remind her that he can hurt her the same.

As for Philip. He's also a criminal and has done his fair share of bad things motivated by greed. I assume he will come around and then they can each be CEOs once they acquire DiMera. I say go Xander.

So that doesn't make him greedy???? If I covet my neighbor's property and someone else covets it, too, it's still greed or a sin.
I suppose they could just show Xander and Philip sitting at their desks playing Monopoly or Jenga.

The Kiriakis and DiMera families have been going after each other's business and assets for decades. This is nothing new.

Thanks for the write-up. A decent show with some decent interactions. Although I think Rachel needs military school rather than therapy.

I know that Tate and Holly are probably endgame, but wouldn't mind Tate with Sophia for now. Although I don't think either of them are ready for a baby at this point. I also like the idea of Holly with Dougie, if she can handle the truth about him when it does come out.

Titan taking over DiMera would be a nice shift of events. A resumption of the feud between the two families would make much better TV than the constant scheming for control over DiMera between EJ, Stefan, Gabi, and Kristen that we've been seeing for years.

I'm happy Stephanie knows the truth about Philip. Naturally, it probably won't come out for weeks.

Thanks brisbydog for the summary. It was a decent day. Victoria's sleeping habits not withstanding.

Is it still New Year’s Day?

What people would show up in accounting? To open the books? Weird.

Guess the makeup department was very proud of their work  or they didn't know what order the scenes would be taped.

Xander continues to prove Victor made the right choice to continue his legacy. Victor would absolutely have gone after a vulnerable DiMera. And this is way more fun than revolving CEOs if he accomplishes it. EJ's head will explode. Then I'll get the Xander vs EJ war I've always wanted. They are the true heirs of Victor and Stefano.

The point I was trying to make is that Xander comes across as someone who commits crimes willy-nilly. Salem is full of criminals, but he takes it to a whole new level. If Days ever did a character-centric episode like Y&R, following Xander, we’d probably see him walking out of a grocery store without paying because the line was too long or dangling someone out of a window to force them into signing a business deal. It doesn’t help that he has a habit of being fully transparent about his crimes—and apparently, his New Year’s resolution was to start telling people about the crimes he’s planning to commit!
The guy wants to oust you from the company—you don’t need to give him any leverage.

And that's what Rachel wants too. She wants to feel as important as the endless rotation of shiny objects on his arm.
Can we kill Kristen, soon? For good this time? She intentionally withheld Rachel from Brady multiple times, including when he started talking to Ava.
Didn't he use Titan to launder mob money last time he was CEO? Philip says he was under duress from Ava.
I can't believe it took this long to get here.
I have a theory that the baby isn't Tate's
Gosh I hope you're wrong. Even re-Ron's not that cheap. But with what's been spoiled, you could be right.
Didn't want to forget that I laughed when Philip mispronounced the NY Times game, Wordle
I don't think it was a mispronunciation. I think they're avoiding a copyright issue. The same way they use "Ewe Search" and say "Flix (pre Peacock)" instead of "Netflix".

What Xander is doing is highly ethical compared to Victor’s old plan to get control of DiMera Enterprises years ago. Back in the day, Victor kidnapped Stefano and withheld his essential meds until he signed away his company. Somehow, the scheme failed, but it shows how low Maggie’s late husband would go to get his way. In any case, Shaggy deserves to go down. Hopefully Stephanie will tell Sarah what she’s learned about Shaggy’s “letter” and doesn’t keep quiet out of loyalty to her oily, bronzed friend.

If psychological help is sought for super brat Rachel, whoever gets the case will be in for quite a shock when he/see sees Brady and Kritter Kristen in action. When this person gets home at the end of the day a very stiff drink will be in order.

Pity the poor Tot. Brady should run down to St. Luke’s and light a candle and pray that the Tot really isn’t the father. Could Tot’s condoms really have been that defective?

What Xander's trying to do is pretty innocent compared to what Victor or Deimos did— poisoning Maggie and offering Victor the cure in exchange for his fortune and Titan, or Brady kidnapping Vivian, stranding her on a deserted island, and threatening to let her starve unless she signed over Titan. The big difference, though, is that none of them were in a relationship with someone like Sarah (Victor's stunt happened before he got with Maggie).

Sarah was cool with him almost shooting Philip cause Philip put the gun in his hand and goaded him. She also found a loophole to getting him out of killing Brady but it wasn't a deal breaker for her.

Similarly, Maggie laughed off Victor strangling Ben with a necktie (as did I) and was obviously in on Victor's plotting to kill Deimos as she told Xander that blackmailing him using that was a non starter.

Thanks for this. It just shows that there is a double standard in Salem — one for Xander and one for everyone else. It’s pure xanderphobia. Actually a Xander takeover of DiMera would be a plus. No company should be controlled by Salem’s “mother” of the year, the unspeakable Kritter Kristen.

Thanks, brisbydog

I think it's still New Year's Day since both Philip and Xander went to work when they could have stayed at home.

It's nice to see people in Salem agreeing with each other.

Tate and Sophia finally brought up adoption and agree that's something they want to do.

Brady and Kristen finally realized they need to stop bickering with each other and agree they need to think
about Rachel. Brady brought up Chloe and something should have been done with Rachel at that time. Will Brady
find someone Rachel can talk to? Will Kristen make sure Rachel goes to appointments? I'm surprised Rachel
wasn't listening the whole time.

Of course in Salem, you have others who can't agree with anyone. Even not growing up together, Xander and
Philip act like brothers who can't agree what team they're for.

Did Stephanie hear all of Philip's conversation with Kate? What will she do if she finds out the letter is fake?

Dougie looked like a vampire with all the blood on his face.

I really liked Tate and Sophia today and I really wish that this show wrote for some long term stuff. I'd love to see them have the baby and just come together naturally during the process. I've long assumed that they were going to make Sophia the bad guy here so I keep looking to see if they give us any signs that she's up to something but nothing yet that I've noticed.

The only thing I care about in the Brady/Kristen/Rachel stuff is that Ava grab a clue and just back away from any relationship with Brady. I don't care if the kid is a brat, she's a kid and no one should willingly get into this mess.

They could actually do some business instead of always trying to do someone else in.
