Sarah is saying goodnight to a gurgling baby monitor. Stephanie comes in with head shots for Bonnie to sign. Apparently it's still New Year’s Day in Salem. Stephanie comments on the Victoria noises. Sarah had hoped to keep her awake for her daddy to say goodnight. Stephanie wonders where Xander is? Sarah hoped he would take the night off but he's getting a jump start on the new year. Stephanie quips that that's exactly what Philip said.

Xander is at his desk when Philip enters. Xander says he's surprised to see him. Philip retorts that he's been there all day. He tells Xander to get the heck out of his chair.

Replay of Brady and Kristen conversation from yesterday. I'll pick up at the Rachel revelation. Brady is flabbergasted. Kristen tells him how she figured it out. Brady wants to know if Rachel admitted it? Then he tells Kristen this is all her fault.

Replay of Sophia and Tate. He was too afraid to tell Holly. Now he has no idea where she is.

Replay of Holly finding Doug. He says no police.

Holly is confused. Doug wants no cops, no hospital. He tells her to leave. She refuses.

Sophia is sorry for assuming Tate told Holly about the non abortion. Tate says it wouldn't matter who told her. Holly thinks things will never be the same for them. And he guesses she's right.

Kristen is shocked and appalled that Brady blames her for Rachel's eviling. She slags off Ava as a mob princess. Brady says she's an ex mob princess. He wonders where Rachel learned about threats and intimidation. He watched her drive Chloe out of town and he's not letting it happen again. Kristen turns it around. He's been dating Ava for two minutes. If it's anybody's fault, it's his fault.

Sarah wants to know if Stephanie and Philip are official? Stephanie says they are seeing a lot of each other. Sarah hopes he plays nice with Xander. There's a lot of water, and blood, under that bridge. Stephanie grimaces. She hopes Philip cares more about his father's company than he does about one upping Xander. Sarah hopes so too.

Xander has set up Philip with his own office with its own chair. He even left him a welcome succulent. Philip whines that this is the CEO office. Xander notes that he's CEO. Philip corrects co-CEO. He used to visit his father here. It's important that the employees view him as the man in charge. A man in charge, corrects Xander, loosely speaking. Philip says he already had his turn. It's his turn now. Xander asks if he is really going to be this petty? Philip says Xander can just go if he thinks he's petty. Xander asks what he proposes? Drawing straws? Maybe a duel? Philip chuckles then says why not? Xander is all sexy blue eyed fury. I've missed him.

Stephanie hopes she's not being too optimistic about the K-Brothers working together. She feels partially responsible for the situation. Sarah says she was just hired to do a PR campaign. It all boiled down to the letter. And as upset as Xander was, he does respect Victor's wishes. Stephanie says he didn't seem to at first. Sarah tells her that when Philip showed up with the letter it was the worst possible time. Xander was devastated by her accident and saw Philip as standing in his way to the cure. But maybe that was a good thing. If Philip hadn't shown up then Kristen would be running Titan.

Sarah says Xander has been through so much. He was deprived of the relationship he should have had with his father. Then Theresa tried to cheat him out of his inheritance. She says one can understand why he was skeptical of the letter. Stephanie gets that. Sarah continues that part of her thinks this is how things are meant to work out. Maybe it's good for Xander to have Philip as a co-CEO. Stephanie doesn't look so sure.

Back with the boys. Philip has moved his desk next to Xander's. Xander apparently suggested it as an alternative to a duel. Philip says until Xander starts muttering over a game of Wordly while he's trying to close a multi national deal. Xander calmly says it's more likely the other way around. He has actually been spending the entire day working on a hostile takeover to start the year off with a bang. Philip wants to know what company? Xander says DiMera Enterprises. That gets Philip's attention.

Brady calls Kristen deluded. She says he's in denial. He should focus on being a parent instead of going from one 5 minute failed relationship to the next his kids wouldn't be so messed up. Has it ever occurred to him that Tate's legal troubles are just a cry for attention? And that's what Rachel wants too. She wants to feel as important as the endless rotation of shiny objects on his arm.

Sophia hopes that things aren't over for Holly and Tate. Tate tells her about the house meeting with her mom. Sophia braces herself. Tate tells her Amy wanted to plan their wedding. Sophia is appalled. Tate says Brady backed up that there would be no wedding but that they would be there financially and Sophia would not be going through this alone. He smiles at her with his eyes. I really like them together.

Doug and his gross mouth say he's ok. But he can't get up. Holly won't leave him. She has an idea of someone who can help him. She helps him out of the park.

Brady says his kids know they are the most important things in his life. Kristen snarls that Rachel doesn't see it. Brady counters with Kristen's draconian custody restrictions. She says she wanted him to see her more. Brady retorts until he said that he didn't want to be with Kristen. Kristen says he misled her. He says she blackmailed him. Brady asks what happened to burying the hatchet? Going at each other is just going to hurt Rachel more. She's a hot mess right now and yes it's his fault. And her fault. Kristen agrees. Brady asks her to repeat that.

They both agree Rachel needs them to be better parents. How do they prove to Rachel that she is the most important thing to them and her happiness takes precedence? He's teary-eyed now.

Philip repeats DiMera? Run by Kristen? Who did Xander a major solid by giving Sarah the serum? Xander scoffs that Kristen did not give it up out of the kindness of her heart. She used it to blackmail him. If Brady had not intervened then Sarah would still be in a wheelchair. Philip thinks this is payback. Xander says no he wants DiMera because it is a major competitor and acquiring it would give them huge market advantage. With the current DiMera infighting all it would take is strategic pay offs to the right board members. They can undermine Kristen’s already shaky authority. And from there it is just a quick jump to seizing the company. Philip thinks this would be a huge mistake.

Stephanie is surprised Sarah thinks that the co CEO thing could be positive. She says she clearly has a lot of issues with Philip. Sarah says he's done a lot of shady stuff. But so has Xander. Maybe the brothers working together can keep their worst instincts in check? Stephanie contemplates this. She finally says that maybe they will team up and destroy the world. Sarah laughs. Stephanie isn't as optimistic as her. She's just hoping for no bloodshed. On cue, Holly drags in bleeding Doug. Stephanie unhinges her jaw.

Sophia jokes that her forced pregnancy is like something out of the Handmaid's Tale. Tate laughs. Sophia says that he must think her mom is a loon, but she loves her. She just has very strong beliefs that are very different from her own. Tate gets that. Sophia points out that they tried to be responsible. She just wants to get on with her life. Tate cautiously asks if she's thought about putting the baby up for adoption?

Xander is not shocked Philip objects to his plan. Philip starts citing bribery as a bad thing but Xander stops him. Since when did Philip care about breaking the law? Didn't he use Titan to launder mob money last time he was CEO? Philip says he was under duress from Ava. Xander mocks that as an excuse. Philip concedes it was a pathetic reason and he let his father down. Xander tersely corrects, OUR father and Philip actually amends. Philip has a second chance now and he wants to do things differently.

Xander is baffled. Philip wants to prove to Victor's memory that he is moral and ethical? Victor. Who must have bribed thousands of people in his lifetime. Victor who would be salivating at the opportunity to take over Stefano's company. Especially with DiMera uniquely vulnerable with EJ and Chad and Stefan all out.

Philip worries about Kristen, the biggest viper of all. Xander dismisses her as a lunatic. Philip isn't keen to mess with her. He agrees she's a lunatic but she's also savvy spiteful and treacherous. He also recalls the last time the DiMeras and the Kiriaki tangled he was right in the middle of it and Stephanie almost got killed. He will never let that happen again.

Doug is lowered into a chair while Stephanie contorts her face. Holly lies that they called the police. She tops that up with Doug having no insurance. Stephanie is sent for Sarah's medical bag. Sarah can't guarantee his rib isn't broken. She checks his vitals. She has to stitch him up without anesthetic. Holly grabs his hand.

Sophia would love to give the baby to people who actually want to raise it, but her parents would hate the idea. Tate says what about being pro life and Sophia going to medical school? Sophia says her mother is a control freak and she wouldn't want the baby raised by strangers. She looks sad. Tate registers this. He'd find that weird too. But they aren't ready to be parents. It's maybe the best option for them both. And Holly? Asks Sophia. But she agrees. It's the best option for them all.

Kristen agrees that they aren't helping Rachel with their bickering. She tells Brady she took away her phone and shut off the wifi. Brady says the problem is that Rachel is clever. She will find a way. She's also defiant and has no problem disobeying anyone. She's a minor but right now her transgressions are small. But when she grows up it will be a problem. Kristen wants to know what he wants to do. Brady thinks Rachel needs professional help. Kristen laughs in his face and says no way.

Brady asks what her problem is? The stigma of therapy? Because he thinks they could all use family therapy. Kristen snaps except they aren't a family. She thinks he wants to get Granny Mar Mar to ride to the rescue and turn Rachel against her. Brady says Marlena would never take her own granddaughter as a patient. Kristen says then she would just recommend a biased friend. Brady just wants to help their daughter. Her life has been a mess since day one. And it's their fault. Kristen says it's not their fault she was switched with Sarah's baby. Brady says everything after that was though. They need to fix things now or Rachel will end up like them. He wants better for her.

Stephanie is getting the genealogy update from Doug. Sarah wants him to lie down and take pain killers. They have a ton of rooms. Holly will wash the blood out of his shirt. She helps him upstairs. Sarah laughs at the odd interruption to their conversation. Stephanie is glad she was able to help him. She has to get going for a dinner date with Philip. She can't wait to hear about his day at the office.

Xander asks if this is all really about Stephanie? Philip says it partly is. They are seeing each other again. Xander isn't shocked. Philip refuses to let her get caught in the crossfire again. Xander suggests he just preemptively break up with her as that's where things are going anyway, knowing Philip. Philip yells at him to shut up. It's not just about Stephanie. He wants Titan to be legit and he doesn't want a war with the DiMeras. Xander disagrees. Philip points out he can disagree all he wants but he only controls 50% he can't make a move without him. His plan isn't happening. Xander stalks out muttering he knew this would be a disaster. Philip smirks.

Tate offers Sophia his jacket. He wants to bring up the adoption idea to Sophia's parents. She says not yet. They have 9 months to bring it up. She has a doctor's appointment to check on the baby. Would he go with her? She's freaked out. Of course Tate will go. Sophia can't imagine going through this without him.

Doug is impressed with the mansion. He tries to remove the shirt but needs help. It comes off. He looks at Holly suggestively.

Kristen agrees to therapy. Brady is glad they are on the same page. They need to be going forward. He wants to see Rachel. She asks if they can talk to her together? He agrees and they head upstairs.

Sophia has to get home before her mom tries to track her down. Tate calls Holly. She rejects the call. He looks sad. Holly wants to know the truth about why Doug didn't want the police called?

Xander arrives home. Sarah leaps up to greet him with a kiss. He looks for Victoria but alas she is in her natural state of sleep. Sarah asks how his day was? Xander slams his briefcase on the table. It was that good says Sarah. Xander said it started off well then turned into a nightmare thanks to his brother.

Philip is talking to unseen Kate on the phone assuring her all is well. Xander and he are off to a rocky start but no worse than he expected. He squashed one of Xander's big plans and now he's furious. But since he controls half the company he won't prevail. He tells Kate she does not need to remind him. There is no way he is going to find out that the letter Victor supposedly wrote was a forgery. So don't worry. And at that, Stephanie rounds the corner and, from her eye popping, has heard that last bit.

Yes, Kristen it is absolutely your fault that Rachel is the way she is. How much arm candy has Brady had? Very little. Get over your obsession.

I am glad Dougie got beat up. Don't know how he'll explain it to Julie. Isn't he way too old for Holly? I don't even want to see that.

Thank goodness Stephanie heard. Or at least she better have. This Philip nonsense can end.

Stephanie is more than likely going to keep her mouth shut out of her lust for Philip.

This will make her an accessory to the crime along with Kreepy Kate. Can't help but wonder Roman's reaction to Kate's crime?

Thumbs up to the make-up people. But seriously, Sarah or Holly couldn't give the man a washcloth?
I'm guessing they figured he'd use a bathroom upstairs to wash the blood from his face, hands, etc.
Isn't he [Dougie] way too old for Holly?
Holly turned 18 on Christmas Eve. Dougie III looks to be about 20 or maybe a few years older than that, so they're old enough to play in the same sandbox.

Thank you, brisbydog!

I will comment more later, but didn't want to forget that I laughed when Philip mispronounced the NY Times game, Wordle (pronounced like curdle), "Wordly." However, being Philip, the comical version, he mispronounced it on purpose, I am sure.

Regarding the washcloth, it's not in the budget.

Really good show today actually. I very much enjoy Sophia and Tate. I like that she's not written like a villain. It's a nice change. Doug and Holly could have potential too. He is improving.

Brady and Kristen was the best I'd ever seen them. Amazing to see them talk like adults and put their kid first.

Love the idea of Titan taking DiMera. A switch up from the revolving CEO stories. The Xander and Philip scenes were interesting too. I like the idea of them evolving as brothers

And the ending puts a twist on things. Stephanie and Sarah being introduced as new friends seems like it will be a factor.

Amazing how much I like the show when Leo, Rafe and Johnny aren't on.

I wonder how long the positive co-parenting will last between Brady and Kristen? I hope she alters her unfair custody/visitation agreement.

I hope we get to see the discussion between Brady, Kristen, and Rachel.

Why can't Brady and Kristen ALWAYS be like this? Duh plot, yep, duh plot. Kristen was so faking it.

At one time, didn't the office Xander was in have another desk by the window, not where Philip sat?

So I assume Xander and Philip can fence? This should be good (not).

I wonder if Stephanie will not tell Philip she heard him talk about the fake letter? It would still be he said/she said unless she recorded it, which she did not.

I agree about chemistry between Tate/Sophia and Holly/Doug III.

We know that Amy Choi will NOT allow the baby to be put up for adoption. She wants to punish Sophia for her "sins." But if she wants her daughter to go to college and have a good career, that would be the best thing to do and would not go against her wishes as far as the baby being born. If Tate and Sophia were actually a couple, they might have considered marriage, but they are NOT a couple. Therein lies the rub.

She's apparently 17 since she and Tate said she couldn't get an abortion in whatever state Salem, USA is in, because Sophia's underage. That's why they were driving to a neighboring state to get the procedure, where she didn't need parental permission.

I don't understand why Sophia can't just go get her abortion now--out of state. Instead of sitting there in the square, continue with your plan. It doesn't make sense. I get that she's used to letting her mother run her life, but there's no reason for her to be doing this. I have a theory that the baby isn't Tate's, and that initially, she just wanted to punish him a little by making him think it was his. She was just going to have the abortion and make him feel bad. But now she's stuck having the baby and stuck in her lie. The question is whether they end up making her the villain, trapping Tate in a relationship.

I like that Tate said they were in this together, he was not going to ignore his responsibility. I wonder, tho, if perhaps Sophia is not even pregnant??? Initially that is.....as I was thinking perhaps she wanted to get Tate to marry her, then would come a convenient miscarriage perhaps?? However, Sophia now seems too worried, concerned about her mother's controlling the entire situation.

However, it does seem Tate & Sophia could just drive to wherever they intended to go, with no one knowing, and still get everything done they wanted to. Guess not.....as there has to be "drama"......of course.
