Townhouse - Tate and Holly await their grade being posted. It's an 'A' which turns them on. She has to run off to buy presents before the stores close at 7. This will be the best Christmas ever. She leaves. Later, Aaron arrives, learns about the grade. Tate says he should thank Holly. Aaron has big news.

Horton House - JJ comes in as Julie is sitting on the couch. She's steamed at him, but not for missing Doug's funeral. For being involved with that nightmare Gabi, who once tried to throw her down a flight of stairs. They change the subject to Abby, and the memorial the family did for her. Julie thinks it was sweet. She laments the missing necklace. Enter Doug III. Julie introduces JJ to Doug. JJ offers to show Doug around Salem. Doug accepts, they'll do it right away, or right after JJ fumes a bit about the necklace.

Rafe's House - Gabi is cooking. Javi enters, on his phone, thinks Rafe is cooking. He's thrilled to see Gabi. Asks about the dead girl's bones. Later, he gets a recap at the table. Javi deduces that JJ cares for Gabi and knows Gabi cares for him since she dropped everything to fly across the country and into Canada on a whim. He figures out that she used to date JJ. Gabi admits it but points out their trip was totally platonic. Javi asks if she wanted something to happen with JJ? He wants to see a picture. Gabi has an old one, Javi thinks he looks great, what is holding her up? Gabi admits they made soft plans. Javi points out it's almost 2025 and Gabi can take control. He texts JJ for her.

Graveyard - Chad talks to the headstone. Cat arrives and tries to leave. Chad asks her about her mom. She tells him about Felicity, the sister she missed a lot. She recaps while bobbing her head up and down a lot. (It's distracting and she doesn't stop.) Mark's going to prison for 18 months so she's taking Aaron and Felicity to see their mother across international lines. Chad feels some sympathy for the Greenes and everything they've gone through. He knows their choices were limited. Cat still feels bad and wishes she could take it all back. (Update: Her head has stopped bobbing but her mouth won't close.) I think they're supposed to be having a moment. She starts bobbing again, says she'll see him around, leaves.

Square - Leo is shopping. Holly walks up to him and they chat. She tells him her name's origin, being born on Christmas Eve. His gifts are for himself since he doesn't really have friends. Her gifts are for many, including the awesome Tate. Leo will hide the present if needed, Holly says they're no longer secret. She talks about Sophia and how she didn't deserve what happened to her. They have an inappropriate recap, the upshot of which is Leo thinks after the star-crossed lovers unite, the real trouble begins.

Horton House - Julie recaps the Steven situation, and how he was spotted talking to local ne'er-do-well Leo Stark. JJ tells Doug that Leo stole Abigail's jewelry once upon a time, makes the connection that Steven was using Leo to fence the necklace. Doug III gets one shots throughout the scene. He wants to go for a walk, JJ will show him around tomorrow. Julie won't turn her brother in, and feels he's entitled to that necklace just as much as the rest of them are. JJ gets Gabi's text. He claims it's from work. He responds.

Townhouse - Aaron tells Tate he's going to Vancouver with his sisters to see their mom. He appreciates what a good friend Tate's been. They say goodbye.

Graveyard - Chad feels close to Abby here and plans to stay all night. He knows she wouldn't want that, so he leaves.

Pub Entrance - Cat has a flashback to telling Chad she cares for him. Aaron approaches her. They leave to get Felicity.

Rafe's House - Javi and Gabi await JJ's reply. "Sounds great, how about tonight?" Smiles and giggles from the cousins.

Salem Inn - Leo is admiring his shopping. There's a knock on the door. It's Doug, who confirms Leo's identity. Doug needs help selling a necklace.

Townhouse/Square - Tate and Holly talk on the phone. The scene accomplishes nothing. The call ends and there's a knock on the door. It's Sophia. She needs to talk to him, asks if he will invite her in. He does. She tells him she's pregnant. She looks upset. Guess Tate's emotion. END

Kind of a slow, inconsistent episode. Please add anything I missed as some scenes I didn't think there was anything important happening in as they ran in circles so we could cram in some cliff-hanger moments at the end.

I also didn't look up the date of the flashback because Cat's head-bobbing made me dizzy.

The conversation between Leo and Holly was kind of funny when she talked about how she and Tater Tot broke up, but got back together. Leo makes a comment about enjoying it while it lasts, which upsets Holly. Then Leo says he's sure they'll be fine, look at Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez (who broke up in 2004 and got married in 2022). That comment aged like milk since Ben and Jen filed for divorce since that scene was taped. Oooops.

So it appears Jack and Jennifer left all of the Horton keepsakes in the time capsule before adding theirs and burying it at Abby's grave. Geez, hope they at least took pictures of everything for all the other family members to enjoy before burying it.

Thanks Jason. I really wanted more sibling scenes showing family, not just random meet and greets at the town square. But the Javi and Gabi sibling show got on my last nerve. Javi needs to take it down a notch. And how much longer before I accept that Tate is a teenager??? He still seems so wildly misplaced in the teen scene. The ick/creep factor is just too high.

Seems I have the pleasure of writing up what Tate's first response will be tomorrow. Oh goody.

Oh yeah I had that in but it seemed like it required its own explainer, so I removed it. Thanks JS!

Cousin show?

If I remember correctly, the actor who plays Tate is approximately the same age that Peter Reckell was when he began playing Bo, who was an adult at the time.

Bo wasn't portrayed as a teenager in high school when he started on the show. He had already graduated and been in the Merchant Marines for a while before he returned to Salem and met 17 year old Hope, who still was in high school. Doug wasn't happy at all that Hope was playing footsie with an older guy.

So far, not fond of Javi. I know the show was having behind the scene problems, but I swear, it seems they are showing up in front. Maybe it's just me. All these new, young characters, who don't seem to really have any place, any story.........but guess perhaps the writers knew these would air during the holidays, so thought they would just let them all sort of float around .......or something. figuring no one would be following much.

I actually don't mind Cat in any capacity except paired with Chad. Her acting would be fine in another place or if her character were a wacky new reporter or something. It's going for "parody of a Hallmark rom-com" in my opinion and WAY overshooting the mark.

Like Tate, I think it would work great elsewhere, I'm just not loving it the way they're using it.

Dull episode, but here are a few comments. Annoying Javi is a waste of space. Once he proved unsuitable for Leo he had no reason to exist. The last thing poor Rafe needs is another dysfunctional relative. As for Cat, she can take her mane and move on down the road. She should just be glad that she hasn’t ended up like that other great Salem imposter, Fake Rafe. Finally, what were Jack and Jenny thinking? Did Alice preserve the family keepsakes just so they could eventually molder in the ground? Didn’t it ever occur to them that future generations of Hortons might want to see them? Go figure.

Thanks, Jason.

It was rather a slow show.

Cat had to tell Chad and Aaron told Tate goodbye before they left to go to Canada.

So, it's Julie's fault Dougie went to see Leo about selling the necklace.

I laughed when Julie asked Dougie if he was warm enough wearing the jacket he had on. She offered
Doug's coat and scarf.

Julie brought up a good point that Steven is Alice's grandson and he deserved the necklace too.

So, Sophia is pregnant. Is it Tate's? Is she lying? Stay tuned.

The actor playing Leo amazes me. All that dialogue he just spits out when the average person couldn't even remember it.

I feel like "Aaron" tries too hard to act like a teen.

JJ and Tate could pass for peers.

I already voiced my opinion of the treasure box. It should have stayed the Horton house.

Anyone think Dougie will hang around?

I wish we'd have seen some internal struggle with him stealing the necklace and then going to Leo to fence it. But nope, in all 6-7 combined minutes we've seen of him, he doesn't seem to give two squats about Julie, her pain, or stealing the family heirloom.
