I agree with this. I always thought she needed to be a bit more like Maggie. I would like Xander to bend some too though. At some point he should snap out of it and realize she's right and that he could end up in jail and leave his wife and kid. And honestly I think it's because his inability to drop it makes him seem a little dumb. I don't think his initial reaction is unusual but dragging it out will be too much.

I hate the Chanel/Alex/whoever stuff. No couple can just be happy at all. Angst just for the sake of it is lazy and boring.

I agree. It would be better if she kinda stunk as an actress and/or he stunk as a director. Professional struggles would be better at this stage, especially given what the Devil did.

I just realized that the only reason it's good Eric is around is because it means once again he's left Nicole to her own devices. He really can't stay in a home with her for more than a month without finding a reason to fly away.

Well, the actress is suing the show, and they are getting back at her. It's a mess, and they don't seem to have thought it all completely through. Story, I mean.

I'm generally opposed to recasts but they have two options:

1. Recast Nicole

2. Write a good reason for her to be without her "twu wuv" Eric for 2 months - like she went into a BioDome or something.

Or just pretend she's in Salem, but always upstairs, having coffee with someone, taking Jude to gymboree, visiting with Abe, etc.

Yes, that would be a viable 3rd option. In fact that should be the 2nd, and the one I listed 2nd should be 1st, because a recast Nicole is a bad idea with the filming delay.

They could also show him talking, texting, and video chatting with her often. I am no longer a fan of the couple, but if they're supposed to have this great connection, she should be frequently mentioned.

An "only on Days" option would be for Nicole to be wearing a Gwen suit for some reason. Or some other character, she was just the first to pop into my head.

I don't think Eric needed to come back for this at all. Holly could have found out the truth without them and just screamed at them on the phone. There's really no need for EJ to rub it in Eric's face if Eric is leaving again in a minute. I think Brady would understand that his brother who drove drunk and killed someone might not want to leave his new child. That could have been done on the phone too. "No need to come, Eric. At least I didn't kill anyone." Maybe this was a contract situation.

It was a contract thing. He had to be rested for going over his guarantee then returned to see out the rest. The actor said so in a podcast a few months back.

Johnny & Chanel’s storyline is so dumb. I blame B&S. I am liking Alex and Stephanie this time around, though.

Sarah’s new dynamic is interesting with Xander, although I’m not quite sure I’d say I like it. I just want the truth to come out. Brady makes stupid mistakes constantly but he doesn’t deserve this.

I like Brady’s dynamic with Eric but am confused as to why Eric is still around and even involved with this plot.

I imagine that when Drake became so ill, and wasn't able to come to work, they had to scramble to shift story, dialogue, etc. to other characters

I find them less skin-crawling this time, although I'm still not OK with it.

And at the same time they had Eric floating back for no reason to finish out a contractual agreement with the actor. So instead of making sense, Eric becomes a private eye.
