Only 32 minutes today. It's Body & Soul adjacent.

Apartment 23 (Stephanie's) - Alex knocks on the door. Stephanie answers, ready for bed. He wants to thank her for her work at the photo shoot. The photos are great, especially the super sexy one of Alex & Chanel. Stephanie wonders how Johnny will react and how he will direct these two hot lovers without becoming jealous? I'm not sure if these scenes are going for meta-aware or punching-down spoof. He worries that if he and Chanel stop hating each other, they'll lose the chemistry that made professional producer Abe cast them. Alex is also nervous that he's not as cool as everyone thinks. Stephanie invites him to watch an episode of Ted with her before bed.

DiMera Mansion, Johnny's Room - Chanel and Johnny look at Eric's fantastic photos. We are forced to see some of them again. Johnny experiences a human emotion known as jealousy. Johnny has been impressed by Chanel's acting ability. Everyone agrees that it's too early for "Faith" and "Arrow" to sleep together but Leo won't change it. Johnny also asked, which enrages Chanel. He reminds her he has the right as the director. Chanel doesn't feel he had the right and this scene goes on too long because Chanel thinks he's jealous.

Kmansion, Sarah's Bedroom - Fiona stops by after checking on the adorable sleeping Victoria. She's looking for Xander. Sarah knows about Brady and Fiona. Fiona is appalled by all of Brady's horrible actions. Sarah thanks Fiona for stopping the baseball bat incident. Sarah tells Fiona she prevented some more vigilante justice by sending the police to Brady's by claiming she remembered seeing Brady behind the wheel.

Townhouse, Brady's Bedroom - Replay of Xander planning to kill Brady and regretting that Brady won't feel much pain. Jada knocks, lets herself into Brady's bedroom, tells the surprised Xander that Sarah gave her a hot tip. Jada sees how "wasted" Brady is. Sarah told Jada that Brady was behind the wheel. Brady is still slurring his speech as Jada tries to arrest him over his protests that he doesn't drink.

Police Station Establishing Shot, Police Workroom - Eric rushes in and asks Jada about what happened at the townhouse? (Marlena told him a neighbor saw Jada go in.) She arrested him for Brady's hit-and-run.

Kmansion, Sarah's Bedroom - Xander rushes in with news. Sarah tells him she remembered Brady and called the police. He asks Fiona to check on Victoria (even though she was there moments ago). Sarah is relieved that Jada arrived in time to save Brady. He asks if she really remembered Brady? She admits she did not, but she had no choice but to stop Xander from killing Brady.

This is where MacDonald Carey would say, "Stay tuned for the second half of Days of Our Lives after these messages."

Part 2 commences!

Chanel is furious that Johnny is implying that she wants to have sex with Alex because she was civil to him at a photo shoot. Johnny says she was against the sex scene but had no problem putting her hands all over Alex in the pictures. He says it wouldn't be the first time and once she got her hands on Alex she thought it wouldn't be so bad to simulate sex. Chanel says that doesn't deserve a response and that she and Alex were going to speak to Kate in the morning. She tells Johnny he's making it worse.

Alex is admiring the Ted show. How talented those actors are to interact with a CGI bear. He wants to do another episode. Stephanie is having a dream about doing a photo shoot with Alex. He's groping her and saying he wants to be with her like a peacock. Stephanie wakes up abruptly at that. She blathers to Alex and they name drop Peacock. He wants to know about her dream.

Xander thought it was a coincidence that Sarah remembered just in time to send the cops, but is surprised she could bring herself to lie, especially since she already refused when he suggested it. Sarah points out that he left her no choice. Was he expecting her to just go home and go to sleep after he told her his plan to kill Brady and make it look like a suicide? Xander says it was the only way to get justice.

Sarah counters apparently not as she found a solution. Once she realized he was not going to stop until Brady was punished she knew that fake remembering would get Brady arrested, save Xander from prison, and give Xander the justice he's desperate for. Only way she could save them both. Now she has to live with the lie. Which is so much better than living without Xander.

Brady is swilling coffee in the interrogation room. Eric comes in. He doesn't understand how Brady could drink again. Brady denies. He went straight home. He suddenly remembers running into Brian from AA. He didn't recognize him but that wasn't unusual. He tells Eric about the sharp ring then going home to Tate and feeling out of it. Then he remembers Jada. And that she was talking to someone. He's pretty sure it was Xander.

Xander thought just for a second when Jada burst in that Sarah had ratted him out. She couldn't do that. He's her husband and the father of her child. She just hoped Jada would get there in time. Xander asks what if Jada had caught him putting the gun in Brady's hand? That was a risk Sarah had to take.

Alex remarks on how Stephanie got a bigger and bigger smile in her dream. He wants details. She says it was about her childhood bear. She lies that in her dream she was about to take her toy bear to bed.

Johnny is sorry. He's an idiot. Chanel agrees. He couldn't help thinking about how she slept with Alex in the past. Chanel elucidates that her photo shoot was a performance and not real. Her being ticked off at him now, that is real.

They are now in bed. Johnny tries to kiss her but she turns her back on him. She has an early call.

Alex has to go. First day of shooting awaits in the morning. Stephanie will be there. She shows him out.

Even though Xander didn't give her an option, Sarah does not feel good about lying to the police. Fiona is now at the door listening. As much as she hates Brady being arrested on false presences she has no doubt that he's guilty. Xander is sorry she had to do things like this. Sarah says it's not like she's framing an innocent man. Xander says no, Brady knows he did it, he confessed. Sarah says now Brady will pay so Xander can stop his crusade to get her justice. That's all Xander wanted, for the person who hurt her to get what they deserve. He kisses her. Fiona looks concerned.

Brady mopes in interrogation. Eric asks Jada if Xander was there when she arrested him? Jada says that Xander told her he came to talk to Brady and found him out cold. She goes to take a call. Eric says aloud "Why were you really there, Xander?"

You may have noticed my level of detail waned for those Alex scenes.

I really like Sarah's choice here. I always thought for this relationship to survive she had to become more gray. A few months back he was scared to tell her he killed Konstantin by choice rather than necessity, but had no problem telling Maggie. Now I think he'd tell her. I love them as this generation's Maggie and Victor.

Eric will huff and puff and be right but have no proof.

The few people I still follow on "Soap Twitter" love anything Eric and Brady do. It's ridiculous. I think they just like the actors and don't care if the story makes sense or is interesting or if Eric/Brady have any reason for feeling the way they do. Purely reactive. (I suspect you are right about Eric. How long is he back anyway?)

I don't want to speak for anyone else, but the reason I like Brady and Eric is that they aren't one-dimensional characters. They make mistakes, but what makes them stand out is that their actions have real consequences, even if it’s not always jail time. We see them deal with the fallout of their choices, which adds depth and complexity to their characters. That's what makes them so compelling to me.

However, while some level of hypocrisy is inevitable, under Ron's regime, it has reached an absurd level with characters like Ben, Ava, Xander, and EJ. They seem to escape the consequences of their crimes scot-free, yet still manage to hold moral authority, which feels unrealistic and undermines their character development.

Alright, getting off my soapbox now.

Well, this has been a rough week to be a Xander and Sarah fan, but I will say the clown story was far worse for me. I loathed every minute of it, from the idiocy of the kidnapping to the gas-lighting of Sarah to the inclusion of vile Gwen, so this one is an upgrade for me. Obviously not thrilled that Xander went right from maiming to murder, but that is clearly exactly what Victor would have done, and they are, as Xander said, cut from the same cloth.

I actually love the Sarah part in this. I have always thought that for them to survive as a couple he had to become less dark and she had to become less light. By being able to lie for him, she has taken that step to saving him from his worse impulses, much like Maggie did for Victor. I'm not saying this is a good thing, clearly it is not, but it makes Sarah far more interesting as a character. I also really like how honest Xander is being with her throughout this. He is not hiding his true self, and she is not running from it. That is a massive shift in their dynamic.

The truth will obviously come out, Eric is already suspicious of what Xander was up to, and John will take that a step further once he learns of Brady's arrest. I think the far more interesting part of this story will be when Xander finds out that it was Fiona. What will he do then? She is literally everything he warned Sarah that she would be, but he has the fantasy version of her in front of him now.

In Fiona's defense, I think she does feel awful guilt and she is trying to make up for it by being useful to them, but if she had just called for help on the night this mess would never have happened. Half of Xander's rage is about Sarah being left in the street to die, not the accident itself.

And when Sarah learns or remembers it is Fiona, how does she feel, knowing she insisted on bringing Fiona back into Xander's life despite his misgivings? For all the wealth and power her introduction brought to him, he was far happier poor and living in their tiny apartment. If Sarah had not pushed him to find his mother, they would have got married at the double wedding and the accident would never have happened, and Theresa would be enjoying spending Alex's millions.

It is a complicated story, and messy for all involved. I know Sarah will apologize to Brady when this is all over, I hope Xander does as well. All three of them are convinced of his guilt and are operating on this misinformation. I am really enjoying the complexity of it though, and I doubt Ron wrote it.

As for the Ron stuff, Stephanie and Alex were a snore as usual and Johnny was being an idiot (but he does have the right to question a sex scene on day one as it is crap writing) and Chanel has every right to be annoyed at him, but I don't really care.

Jada is smart, but for all she knows Xander was just there to confront Brady again and found him drunk. He was not attacking Brady when she came in, and I doubt they will test Brady's blood for alcohol. She doesn't know Xander's murderous tendencies, or his intentions on this night. She was doing her job and as usual she was good at it. I will hate when Rafe is back.

Short show.

Did not like Chanel & Johnny fighting so much. Yes Chanel, Johnny is director so he can talk to the writer. Didn't like him bringing up her and Alex's threesome though.

Stephanie & Alex were cute. Should get back together.

So what happens now when Sarah actually remembers Fiona was driving? She can be in trouble for lying.

Wow, what a Friday cliffhanger.

Nice job, Jason, thank you!

Short show, indeed. I wish the Connie and Body & Soul shows would be short!

Chanel is really getting her anger on. I think that she is taking it too far, though. Johnny apologized as much as he could, but I think Chanel is mad at herself for possibly still being attracted to Alex despite loving Johnny, but she can't admit that. So she is lashing out.

Stephanie is fighting against her attraction to Alex so hard, she will explode. Will they or won't they?

Personally, I did not care for the first Ted movie, and now there is a series. I don't get the appeal, but to each their own. Shameless plugging of Peacock.

I understand why Sarah did what she did, but now she might be condemning Brady to a prison sentence for an accident she is not sure he caused. For a while, I thought she was playing Fiona to see how far Fiona would let it go, but since she admitted to Xander that she lied to Jada, she really does not know who was driving. Will Brady be saved in time?

Will Brady have his hand analyzed? He was not even given a blood alcohol test, or whatever you call it. If there is a mark on his palm which looks like something other than a ring scratch, it needs to be analyzed. He must bring it up and not ignore it. But, at the same time, if a blood test only reveals a high alcohol level and not a drug in his system because it is hidden, that is still bad news and does not prove he was NOT drinking.

Yes he could have just been injected with pure alcohol, like Philip did to him a few years back. It was probably a drug though, and he won't be tested because everybody assumes he is loaded again.
Also, Jaida said "it isn't about tonight".

I will not watch Ted before bed,
Not even if Ted was red,
I will not watch Ted in a sled.
I couldn’t agree more. Ted is unbearable.

Almost as bad as Ted is nasty Chanel who was all over Johnny for daring to seek changes in the script. What a witch. Imagine what she’ll be like when the thrill of romance with Johnny fades.

Also hard to watch was Xander turning back into a violent thug. Thanks writers. Sarah’s saving the day by lying about poor Brady was effective in the short run, but will she stick to her lie if Brady actually is going on trial. Would she commit perjury? If she does, it could get ugly. Aggressive cross-examination might just cause Sarah to collapse like a house of cards.

Thanks, Jason and brisbydog. It worked out nicely both of you working on the summary.

Wow, Sarah lied to Jada about seeing Brady driving the car to save Xander. I'm glad she told Xander the
truth that she lied.

What's going to happen now? Will Brady have a fair trial? Holly and EJ are going to be overjoyed with this news.

Will Eric figure out something about Xander? It's odd Xander just happened to be there when Jada arrived.

Will someone be smart and check the cameras in the square and see the man Brady talked to?

Johnny was a jerk talking to Leo for Chanel.

Chanel and Alex are smart to wait and talk to Kate the next day about the love scene.

FYI, I won't watch Ted. It doesn't seem like a good show for me.

Does Peacock give Days something when it's mentioned on the show? Maybe bonus money? :)
