Horton House - Julie is sitting in the dark in the living room. Chad comes in, turns on the light. She is afraid to go upstairs. Julie feels Doug's absence every minute. She laments that she didn't see Doug was failing in his final days, worries that she could have done something more. (She never says Doug died, just uses euphemisms like "when Jack couldn’t wake him up" "without him" etc.) Chad talks about losing his most precious wife, and also second-guessing her final days. This comforts Julie. (Julie does fantastic work in these scenes, looking into the middle distance, letting her eyes glaze a bit, etc. A dynamo.)

K-Mansion Bedroom - Holly asks shirtless Doug-3 why she wasn't allowed to call the police? Doug-3 claims he was afraid since he recently had a run-in with the law. Holly doesn't buy it. He fesses up instantly that he borrowed money and didn't pay it all back, and only had the money he had from "doing something awful" and illegal for the money he did scrape up. He stole the necklace and fenced it.

K-Mansion Living Room - Xander recaps his first day with Sarah. They recap the plot point about the letter. He tells her about his plan to overtake DiMera using questionable means. Sarah doesn't want the law broken. Xander says it's what Kristen would do. Sarah thinks that's a really low bar. She's worried about his going to prison and being away from her and Victoria. Xander doesn't want that. They smooch.

Office Establishing Shot - Titan Offices - Replay of Philip recapping how the letter is a fake and nobody knows it, bwa ha ha, as Stephanie enters and overhears. He ends the call with Kate as Stephanie dips out. She reenters and lowers the boom. She won't let him lie. He quickly blames Vivian. Stephanie points out Victor didn’t really want Philip to have Titan, or he would have found a way to write it. He’s a total fraud. She’s been roped in to his scheme, as has Belle. Philip continues his delusions that Victor would have left him the company. Stephanie continues to point out this isn't based on facts, terminates their professional and personal relationship. Stephanie points out this "do anything for Titan" attitude almost got her killed before. Philip thinks she was looking for an excuse to dump him for Alex, whom she dreamed about this morning. Stephanie stomps off.

Horton House - Julie has lots of support. She is worried about all he's been through with Cat Greene pretending to be Abigail. Chad tells her Cat Greene is gone.

Square - Cat Greene walks up to Marlena and they recap her impersonation of Abigail at Clyde’s orders. She wants to talk about her husband. Or to her husband. (Cat's acting choices are questionable. I am annoyed.) John is away, Cat can talk to her. Cat wants to tell the tale of what really happened decades ago in Greece.

Horton House - Julie asks Chad about Cat's mom, who's still in custody in Vancouver. Julie is glad Cat is gone forever. Chad defends Cat, who was under duress from Clyde. He hasn't forgiven her but understands her actions. Nothing will ever happen between Cat and Chad. They have helped each other. Chad says Marlena helped him after Abby. Julie will think about it. Chad leaves.

Square - Elizabeth, Cat’s grandmother, was trapped in an abusive marriage to Konstantin. Victor sent John to rescue Elizabeth and he helped fake Katerina's death, saving her life. John is a hero. This makes everyone happy. Cat is not returning to Vancouver, but Aaron is because he is an overachiever who has enough credits to graduate. She's staying here with Felicity and needs a job. Marlena needs an assistant. Cat will come to interview at the hospital tomorrow (and needs Dr Johnson's approval).

K-Mansion Bedroom - Holly is aghast at Doug-3’s actions. He had misgivings especially after how kind Julie has been. Holly advises him to come clean. He can't hurt Julie that way. He needs to raise the money and his debtors aren't patient while he looks for a job. Holly offers to ask her Grandma for a loan. She'll figure out a way. Doug-3 is surprised since they barely know each other. She admits this is true, but has appreciated his friendship and doesn't want him dead. They seal the deal with a handshake and she goes to wash his shirt.

Horton House Living Room/Entryway - It's dark. Julie goes to the stairs and starts climbing. She gets three steps up from the landing and freezes. "No, not tonight." She takes a blanket and lays on the couch.

Square - Cat is talking to "Mrs. Brown" who is helping with Felicity. She ends the call, gets up, and runs into Chad.

Pub Entry Area - Marlena leaves a message asking someone to get John in touch with her.

K-Mansion Portrait Area - Xander has a laptop and is working on a new plan. Thanks to that Damn Letter.

Philip's Office - Philip, an idiot, leaves a voicemail for Stephanie about not blabbing about the forged letter. (Yes, he confesses his crime on a recording.)

Hospital - Sarah and Stephanie run into each other. Stephanie fought with Philip. Sarah doesn't think the co-CEO thing will work. Stephanie admits it won't, because Philip has no business being CEO in the first place. END

A really good episode. I'm actually invested in Doug-3 and Holly and all their actions make sense. I can believe now that Doug-3 is conflicted. He did a good job today. (Although in a rare twist, he should have kept his shirt on.)

I love Stephanie not taking guff. This is Kayla and Patch's daughter. I hope this moves forward and Xander gives Philip a piece of the company or something. I also think Philip was more subdued today, and his face/acting matched the mood/scene.

I'm in favor of the Greenes. (Justice for Mark - Bring Back Aaron! Etc.) The show needs new blood and Cat can work as a wacky secretary. She's clearly a rom-com actress and she and Chad almost work. I won't hate that.

Why can't Marlena call John? Why must they torture us?

I am glad Cat is staying in Salem.

Thank God they didn’t make Caterina or Cat John’s daughter. John doesn’t need any more kids in Salem. Glad John rescued Elizabeth and Caterina from Konstantin by faking her death. John went out a hero after all.

So happy Stephanie heard and is doing something about it. Did Philip really think she wouldn't tell anyone? He was lame bringing up Alex for why she was ending it. No it's because you're a - well I can't say it, but we all know.

Julie breaks my heart because I know she's going through it in real life too.

I really like the actress for Cat so I hope she sticks around but, wow, Marlena offering her a job? But after what Cat told her about John, the real story, I see why. I bet Cat & Chad will get together. I mean he loved her when he thought she was Abby.

I can't believe Dougie confessed. Where will this lead now that Holly is involved?

The rewrite of John going to Greece to fake Catharina's death doesn't really make sense since John was eaten alive with guilt over killing her. Unless he still thought he killed her and Victor, Elizabeth and Catharina actually faked the death without John's knowledge.

John wouldn't remember anything anyway as he was the Pawn. I imagine they staged both Elizabeth and Catharina's deaths to get them away from Konstantin. It's the kind of thing Victor would enjoy doing and keeping secret. I do think he could be Cat's grandfather.

Even Victoria would know better than to leave a recording.
Well, if she were ever awake she'd know.

I am confused by the entire Catharina story now. Is this the correct order of things?

Elizabeth was married to Konstantin, they had a daughter Catharina the First
Kon was a cruel man. Okay, this part is understood and not confusing
Catharina the First was believed by John and Steve to have been shot and killed by John while he was the pawn working for Victor
John is consumed by guilt over the killing of a young woman
John goes to Greece to put flowers on Catharina the First's gravesite before turning himself in to police for a murder
John ends up in the same room Clyde kept Catharina the Second (Cat Greene) in

NOW
We find out the shooting of Catharina the First was a ploy to allow Elizabeth and Catharina the First to escape to America

Had we heard about Elizabeth before today and I just didn't pay attention? Why would the Konstantin have let her go?

I'm confused.

Yes. Steve and John went looking for Elizabeth to try to prove Konstantin was scamming Maggie. The conclusion was she had vanished after the death of Catharina. They surmised that Konstantin had murdered her.

The rest of your timeline is correct

I guess Doug III is replacing Chad as the automaton. Chad was very good with poor Julie. It is really sad for her to do this as Julie when you know Susan Seahforth Hayes (Julie) is really hurting.

Holly was much more mature with Doug than she is with Tate.

The actress playing Cat (ugh) has a tougher look, so I hope they don't turn her into a helpless female.

Thanks for the summary. This does sound like a pretty good show, although the Cat-related stuff is definitely confusing.

I'm not sure how I feel about the idea of Cat and Chad together. I think if it happens, maybe it could work if it is a very, very slow build. But who am I kidding myself? The writers would never do that! I'm glad that she's looking for work, though, and spoke with Marlena.

Chad's scenes with Julie were wonderful, albeit heartbreaking. This storyline is very good. I love Chad's relationship with Julie, even if I'm not a Julie fan.

Holly and Dougie work well together. I wouldn't mind them giving it a try. I'm glad he told her the truth now about the necklace.

Poor Marlena. John being exonerated is of course good news. But given that we all know what's coming, it just makes this entire plot heartbreaking.

Edited to add: Stephanie better tell everyone the truth! Her and Philip as a pair never should have happened again unless he had seriously changed, but I’m glad they know he was nothing but a rebound.

Thanks, Jason.

Why, oh why, does Aaron have to be gone? I hope he pops back to Salem one day.

Good points Stephanie brought up about her and Belle would be accused of fraud too if Philip is.
What will Philip do? Resign as co-CEO? Let Xander do what he wants?

Will Maggie give Holly the money to save Dougie? Maybe Holly can ask for more and get Julie's
necklace back.

What a nice surprise for Marlena that John was an actual hero saving Cat's mom and grandma.

Poor Julie. It's sad to watch what's happening since it's happening to Susan Seaforth Hayes (Julie) in real life.
I'm glad she talked to Chad. Will she go see Marlena?

It’s time for the oily Shaggy Phil to ooze on down the road — his secret is out and he’s lost his only supporter. Salem history shows that it won’t be long before everyone — even the bar flies at the Pub — will know the ugly truth. All Xander has to do is keep his cool and all will be well. And it’s time for Vivian to realize that her children just don’t have what it takes to successfully pull off a scam.

Little Dougie’s secret is also out, but his prospects are brighter than Shaggy’s. There’s a big difference between having no judgment and being scammer.

Finally, I just can’t get interested in the adventures of Cat and her mane. I find furry, four-legged cats more interesting than Cat (meow).
