C'mon...let's rant...

Oh I agree with all of the above but that first one takes the cake.. UGH Like Kristen's body has been prepared for that already and ready to go...STUPID! Even surrogates take shots get prepared etc..

Give Rory a last name please, he has been on screen for what a year or two? and still has no last name.

Some back story on Paige father would be nice. In my opinion it would help fill in the blanks story wise.

The continuing of dumbing down Jennifer. She should never be paired with Dan Tanna again. In my opinion it does not work. Burn the bridge they are awful. They are turning her into a stalking shrew.

Don't insert certain characters into every story (yeah Dan I'm looking at you) just because you don't know what to do with them.

I would also like to see Rory have a last name...and some more involvement like, say, his own story line. Maybe next summer with the kids out of school? I like his character very much.

I totally agree with the wardrobe/season thing also. And how convenient that JJ got a bit chilly walking around in the woods in his shirt sleeves so that random girls could "warm him up" creating yet another photo op for 'incriminating' evidence to be sent to Princess Paige. Gah. The whole JJ/Paige/Eve story line makes me want to break stuff.

Also, I would like to see Nicole a bit more often. She's such a dynamic character and I've loved her for years. It's about time she was allowed to stop running around town providing shoulders and hugs for idiot Brady and dummy Dan and got a real story line. Eric's treatment of her is absolutely insane also. Nicole deserves waaay better.

The last episode of The Big Bang Theory had Sheldon telling Amy he loved her. It was the sweetest and most weirdly romantic thing I've seen on TV in awhile. Even though The Big Bang Theory is a "silly comedy", they showed more romance in that little scene than Days has shown in years.

I saw that, and agree, JS. It was so HUGE for Sheldon, so unexpected for Amy, (and the audience). Well done.
Same as the episode where Sheldon and Amy kissed (on the train). While it was odd and awkward, when Sheldon very subtly leaned into the kiss, that was 1000 times more romantic than any Days hookups lately.

I'd have to say the most romantic thing I've seen on Days in a long time was when Aiden and Hope were talking and the camera panned down to show their pinky fingers were hooked together.

Wow...I'll second every single thing said so far. And I'll expand on the newbies idea. It's tragic that these writers don't care to write for those we want to see, and when they do bother to write them a story, it's stupid (Kristen stealing Jeannie T's embryo, John trying to bed Kristen, Nick going psycho×2, etc) and out of character. But it's a dag-blasted shame that the writers don't even bother to write compelling material for even their own characters (Ben, Jordan, Clyde, Paige) and those they've brought back on their own (Eve, Kayla).

I mean, these are characters that they presumably wanted to write for? A great example: Eve. Favourite character from the 1980s, and obviously they NEEDED EVE, because they accepted a recast. But this Eve, aside from her squabbling with Jennifer, is practically a new character. And they made otherwise-unconnected Paige her daughter. But not subtly - suddenly. It was cheap.

An even better example: Jordan. ('Nuff said.)

It's like the head honchos think showing someone every day will make them our favourite character. I suspect this is how they will proceed with Paul.

Second to that, it's the cheap telegraphic writing that bugs me. Were there even .4 seconds of doubt that Jordan and Rafe would become a couple? Or Aiden and Hope? No, because they were completely isolated in stories away from the rest of reality, save a few recurring/extras. DUMB. And when they had an opportunity to really be clever and slowly craft clues in (Paige being Eve's daughter, which I suspect was a change from their original direction) about one of their characters, they instead chose to reveal it over the course of two episodes immediately before Eve showed up. SILLY. (And even if they DID change direction, there's really no reason they couldn't have recorded a few lines of dialogue here & there and peppered them in to some already-finished episodes, to give us some clues.)

I'm in the minority here, always have been. I've spent the last 15-20 years of my life trying to advance my spiritual core in ways that nurture the "whole me." And it really took hold when I read Eckhart Tolle's A New Earth in 2009. I practice NOT ranting.

I do wish Days had a better grasp on what the audience wants.

I would hire talented writers. Writing is hard. No doubt about it. But writers need to know the history; they need to do their homework, and the Days' writers, for a number of years, seem to be writing from an agenda whispered from thin air.

There's very little to add to the incisive comments made by other posters. In addition to being straight out of science fiction, the Kristen-Theresa plot is simply repulsive. Similarly, the JJ-Eve encounter was utterly tasteless in and of itself, but the writers made it worse by portraying it in a manner that would be better suited to a soft-core porn movie. Finally, as many others have said, not making more use of older, better developed characters is a real failure by the writers. Rafe, who's supposed to be an ace detective, is reduced to aimlessly wandering Salem, engaging in pointless conversations. Similarly, Lucas or Nicole simply having have a cup of coffee at the Pub is infinitely more interesting than the combined doings of Ben, Abigail, and the unbearable Jordan (her cat, Arthur, probably has more charisma).

Jason: I agree about Paige. It would have been much more believable if she had been sent to Salem to live with Caroline or Jeannie Theresa even. Even if they were changing direction on the character, she should have been seen interacting with the Bradys as soon as they decided to make her Eve's daughter. Isolating her and Eve from the Brady family doesn't make the audience care about either character.

And on that note, I also hate the way they seem to have combined Eve and Jeannie Theresa's apartment into one. We haven't seen Jeannie Theresa's set (the one where she overdosed) in quite some time now. Instead she keeps entering Eve's apartment with or without Eve there.

She was just in her apartment when she evidently took the pregnancy test. She did that "smirk" and went off to see John. That is when Brady then overheard John say that he knew it was Theresa who whomped him with the poker.

I agree that those two apartments are so identical, it is ridiculous. And then, yes, why would Paige be staying with some cousin Joan from her dad's side. I think it was decided LATER to make her Eve's daughter. When you think of it, though, Shane is not a Brady, nor was Eve's mother, so perhaps that is why paige was given this invisible relative. Heck, the writers have not even decided who her father is. Just like it took them over a year and a half to decide why Jordan took Ben and ran off.

Poirot: That looked like Eve's apartment when she took the test. I could be mistaken but I remember thinking it was odd that she was in Eve's apartment.

Her own apartment has a similar layout but is also much smaller than Eve's. To me it looks more like Daniel's. At least the entryway does.

I believe Jason47 said Eve's apartment and Jeannie T's apartment are the same set, only dressed differently.

And I'm pretty sure the apartments are just tweaked versions of the apartment Sami was living in with the children after she left Rafe (in the building EJ bought).

I wish they would go back to being more serious about the show and not so campy at least not all the time. A little campy goes a long way. When its overly campy it's hard to take death, love, drama (when they have it) seriously.

In re: the saying of last names....which is very annoying. However, I think it is done for the same reason character will call each other brother, sister, cousin(bro, sis, cuz) and it is for new viewers so they can understand the relationships, who the characters are.

i.e. When I was in the hospital once for about 8 days, the little small town hospital here only carried local channels, and so, there were only all these soaps (remember when we had tons of them?). So I would be watching, not having a clue who anyone was, if they were related, exes, neighbors, co-workers, etc. etc. Needless to say, I did not get invested in any of them, despite watching daily. LOL.

So, while we who watch all the time, or have for years, know and understand the relationships, etc. there ARE those who flounder around a bit. However, I will agree that people do NOT go around talking of anyone and constantly saying their last name along with the first name.

I don't even know what to add.

My biggest pet peeve is changing vets' personalities!!! Sami and Jen used to be my favorite characters. Jen is annoying as all get out and Sami was a shell of her former self when she left. I'm still hoping Sami comes back for the 50th and it's revealed that she was a DiMera pawn for the last 3 years and not the true Sami Brady!
