That's a definite turn off.
From the article, I took it as this is the first time a show or soap is showcasing black families as living in extreme luxury, as opposed to being working class (like Good Times, for example). But I think of The Jeffersons or Fresh Prince of Bel Air, they were wealthy. So I don't see how this is different, unless they mean it's different for a daytime soap only.[I'm guessing because I couldn’t glean from the article what was 'never before done'.]
