First of all, my doctor is a specialist. Chronic pneumonia goes hand in hand with my other health problems. He gives me IVs in his office (a University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Community Health site) when he deems it necessary.
Secondly, the hospital is the worst place for me to be unless I'm on death's doorstep. My doctor doesn't even allow me to visit anyone in the hospital because I pick up every nasty thing in there.
Thirdly, my doctor has never allowed me to sit in his waiting room because of the germs. I'm to call when I leave the house (5 minutes from his office), park in the back, and ring the employees' doorbell. They bring me in the back hall, and put me directly in an exam room or his office.
Fourthly, I always wear a mask when I have to go to an outpatient center for tests.
