Good morning. A bright, sunny, chilly morning here. It was 40* when I went outside at sunup to feed the birds and take in the freshness that's in the air. The ground was wet and rains will return tomorrow but there will be a lot of sunshine today.

I'm going down to the church in a little while for an open-to-the-community free lunch. This is the season for sowing wheat but the tractors and grain drills are sitting still in the fields, due to the recent rains. Nobody's complaining about it and maybe there will be some folks with free time on their hands to drop in for a sandwich.

Hope all of you have calm weather and a good day.

Good afternoon everyone. Everyone else's rain finally arrived here early this morning. Right now a cold rainy mist is coming down. YUCK!

Even though it was raining, I had a nice drive to one of my favorite schools in the middle of nowhere in my southern county. Will be going back tomorrow.

OC, enjoy your lunch at the church.

robinsnest, sounds like another busy day for you.

WW, Thank you for the lovely picture. Those colors feel so peaceful to me.

Now I need to go to another meeting about my retirement. Same thing over and over.

Our cloudy skies look like they are trying to clear up........we'll see. Be nice to have a nicer day for a change. However, winter is definitely on it's way up here. Management evidently came sometime yesterday, and cut down all the mum plants, which had turned fall colors, and were now withering. Guess I did not notice as.....yep, all the blinds were closed. LOL, Glad it's done.

Nice day here....keeping an close watch on our November hurricane. They say the fronts that are rolling in will steer it away from my location, but you never know.

Got gas for $2.34 a gallon this morning.

The sun is out today and it's in the mid 60s. When I got home from Bible study, I put my
geranium outside for sun. Maybe it will survive longer than the one I had last year.

No big plans this afternoon, but doing other studies.

OC, I hope you had a nice lunch.

robin, I'm glad you could sleep in this morning.

Wilde Woman, I hope you get the rain you need.

rs, I'm glad you got to one of your favorite schools.

Poirot, sad to hear about the mums. Hopefully, they will come back next year. Mine does
and it's still blooming since we haven't a killer frost yet.

Wishing everyone the best rest of the day possible.

US$5.52/gallon equates to CAD$2.02/litre. Mrs clean, you're in Edmonton right? Like only 3 hours north of Calgary, right? That's crazy!!! Calgary is around CAD$1.48/litre which equates to US $4.02/gallon. How is there that much of a difference?

I'm in Winnipeg right now and gas is cheaper here in Manitoba at CAD $1.22/L (US $3.31/Gallon. I don't get it. Alberta produces oil and gas and we are higher priced than Manitoba.

We had $1.34 a litre in Ottawa Sunday night when I drove home from Montreal. We have not gone up to $2 since midway through the pandemic

Yes, I'm in Edmonton Muzzaman. Maybe I'm doing my math wrong (wouldn't surprise me;)1.38/litre x 3.79 = to 1 gallon.
My post above was calculated at 1.38×4.
So still high at 5.22/gal. Where did I go so wrong?

My mind fades out when I look at all those calculations. I don't even know what gas costs around me. At the one gas station in my tiny community the owner pumps my gas and sends me a bill at the end of the month. One of the many reasons I love living here.

I don't spend so much on gas anymore and yesterday I found out the reason why. While I was in town I went to get my oil changed, as it had been a little over a year. I've gone to the same place for years, a small place in my Walmart town. The guy who runs it was a bit intimidating to me when I first started going there. He's a big man, head shaved, looks like someone you'd expect to see on a motorcycle, if not in a wrestling ring. He used to be a bail bondsman. I don't know if he still is or not. Inside the tiny business area of his business he keeps three extremely large dogs. I can't think what kind they are but they look like they could eat you alive if they wanted to. This situation proved how deceiving appearances can be. The man is so very kind and respectful. He's gone out of his way to do things for me that aren't exactly associated with oil changes. (One time he cleaned a rat's nest out of my a/c system, when I couldn't get any mechanics to do it). Also, those dogs are super friendly. The scariest thing about them is that they get so excited when someone comes in, I'm afraid they will bump into me and knock me over as they bustle around trying to greet me!

But to get to the point of the story, the man went out and looked at the sticker on my car, from my last oil change. He came back inside and told me I still had 2400 miles left before needing my oil changed! That seemed hard to believe but even though it's a long way for me to go to town, I really don't go all that frequently anymore. I can tell it by my gas bill as well. Sometimes I only have one fill up in a month. That will go up when we start feeding cows for the winter. My work truck is a gas guzzler.

Robin, it's good seeing you out being your busy self again.
Wilde Woman, "brush fires in Brooklyn." Now there's an image I had never imagined.
Squirrel, I hope you aren't burnt out on retirement before it even gets there!
Poirot, I know from experience a lot can be missed when keeping the blinds closed.
Sexton, I'm glad the hurricane will be steered away from you but please tell it not to go to Florida. My son's family will be there before too long.
Kat, wishing you happy studies. I hope you are learning a lot.
I hope you people in Canada don't have to buy a lot of gas either. Your prices sound dreadful, even though I can't do the comparisons.

I enjoyed the lunch. It was just sandwiches but the fun part was getting to visit with people in the middle of the week. Another fun thing happened when I started out to go to the church. As I started down my driveway two turtles appeared in the middle of the road. One big one and one little one. When they saw my car they stopped and weren't about to move. There wasn't room to drive around them on either side or to straddle them. Finally I got out of the car and walked up behind them shouting, "Shoo." They ran as fast as their legs could carry them. First time I'd ever tried to herd turtles!

LOL, loved the turtle story.
Also find a gas fill lasts me about a month, same reason as you, O.C. And the oil changes. I do it every 6 ,mos. needed or not. Heck, my car is 3 years old, and I only put 3000 miles on it. Oil breaks down and even if not driving much, it can deteriorate, thus not lubricating properly ..................which could eventually lead to complete engine breakdown. Better safe than sorry. -
