I remember when I first moved here a lot of years ago. Such a shock when winter arrived.........being used to Chicago winters, sure got an education that first year. Blizzards that kept one inside, causing drifts so thick and high, sealing any attempt to open the garage door, heck, even to get out the house door to try and shovel! Had to wait for plows to come in, tho not pleaant to find snow piled up at the mail box, or blocking the turn around (a way to come down the road, and not have to back up to turn the car around to drive out........Plow drivers loved it..........LOL. but , such a long winter, with 95 inches of snow. !!! thru the years.......egads. Fishing opener is first Saturday in May....some years, lakes still frozen!!Other years had just opened up but ice still floating around. And now, this year seems to be copying last year, with hardly any snow on the ground, thus no snomobiling, which is a disaster for the winter business. We had a really good winter business usually, which helps survive the winter and pay bills, but then......yes, mild winters are great usually, but hurts winter business, of course. Tho, there ARE those who come anyway, just nice to get away. Made me laugh to see the snowmen created with just the few inches of snow on the ground at times.....Gonna have fun, make fun, no matter what. LOL
