Why oh why does Doug have to die on Thanksgiving?
Seriously - why couldn't it have been just before or just after? I suppose it will make it easier for the writers to remember when he died.

I'd have preferred they have Julie getting ready for the holiday in early November when it happens, but perhaps they wanted the returns close to when it happened on-screen.

Since Thanksgiving is not a fixed date
If this is in response to my comment, I meant that the writers can bring Doug up every year at Thanksgiving time, because it will be easy to remember. It is a fixed point on the calendar, so the date will be close (closer in fact than most Salem dates usually are) although my thinking was more the holiday itself will be when the show annually remembers that Doug passed.

I'm probably going to miss the Doug stuff because my black Friday deal from last year expires this Thursday. Sadly I don't plan to sign up again without another deal because I fast forward through a good chunk of the show. I could keep it to watch Homicide reruns but I don't even get around to watching stuff on my DVR that I swore I wanted to watch.

I'm guessing they are hoping that folks coming home for the holiday will all gather around the TV to watch "Grandma's" show and get hooked and purchase Peacock. I remember loving the holidays so I could watch Grandma Dottie's shows with her, she'd catch us up as we prepared the meals. Precious memories for me. That could be what they are going for.

OR

They know viewership drops off during the holidays and this is a way to get people to watch so they aren't "spoiled". The heartless approach.
