COOKIES MOM

My plans were all set and decided on for safety during the terrible storm coming to my area. My daughter and I had planned for her to come to my home and ride out the storm. Alas I live in a mobile home which is quite old, and the county in which I reside has issued a mandatory evacuation order for my area.
They have made a statement that after tomorrow at noon, no first responders will be allowed to travel to mobile home communities. It is a very fair ruling since they would be taking their own lives at stake for the few people who did not obey orders from both our county authorities, but also our governor. When I woke up this morning my son who lives 2 hours south of me said he and his 17 year old son were coming to get me and my dog, Cookie. I very politely told him I would be fine.
He was not happy with me, but I reminded him I am a lot older and a lot more stubborn and he will be in the path of the storm at his home too. That is when he mentioned to me that he had a brick house, with generators, and he had a separate box freezer for my food.
Ok now is were this story get wonderful. An hour after my last conversation with him, my sweet 8 year old granddaughter Lila called me. She mentioned adorably but with a note of certainty in her voice that her grandpa who was one of her heros died only 6 months ago. She then coyly asked me if I would please get ready to be picked up, because she will not take a chance on losing grandma too due to her being a stubborn lady who needs to listen to my Lila. Of course since that very minute I have been packing up and getting ready. My daughter is actually on board as this means she gets to stay home with her own daughter and her own dog.
Sorry this is so long people, but I wanted you all to have the facts as they stand. I am likely not going to be able to be here in Salem Spectator until I get home her after the storm, and have electricity restored. (I live in the boonies, and our electric in my community goes out if a bird burps in the tree).
Stay safe, I love you all
