When an actor leaves a role, having played it a long time, and enjoyed by viewers who are not all that happy the role is being recast.........we have to remember it is the actor's choice, decision. The actor decided to move on, so was not willing to sign another contract. Or perhaps the actor was having medical issues. The fact remains it was the actor's choice, not the fault of the show. We cannot get mad, and badger the show to bring the actor back........it was the personal decision of the actor.
However, when an actor is actually let go, for whatever reason, we don't know behind the scenes. Perhaps the actor did not quite fit the character's personality, maybe the actor has a problem with other actors on the set, the directors, drugs, ..............or perhaps the suits feel the actions of the actor outside the show itself do not reflect well on the show, or the demands of the actor are not viable, and just don't work with the way the show operates. Who knows? Yes, at times it seems unfair, but WE truly never hear the whole story.....not from either side. There is always more, way more, than we hear about. So....when there are changes, actors suddenly leaving, recasts.........
I always remember Bette Davis's famous line...........Fasten your seat belts it's gonna be a bumpy ride.

Congrats to the happy couple. True O’Brien (Paige) had her character written out by being strangled by Ben, but another cast member became her future husband. That’s a pretty good trade-off.
Boy, when he left, I didn't think anyone else could ever portray Chad. Was I wrong.

It took me a while to warm up to Billy Flynn playing Chad, but I've come to really appreciate him in the role.
