I expected diamonds, a map or a microchip(s) to be inside the elephant. Serena probably put the diamonds inside of Eric's elephant before they left Africa. Thinking security wouldn't check him. His elephant has been in storage, but they didn't say how long. But it's been enough time to get the diamonds back and sell them to the highest bidder.

What bothers me, is that since the elephant had a secret compartment, why did she even bother to try to switch it with the other elephant to begin with. All she ever needed was about 30 seconds alone with the statue to remove that little baggie. But then again why should this plot make any more sense than usual?
