In order to serve DUH PLOT, many Salemites must be terrible at their jobs.

Marlena's skills as a psychiatrist, Kayla's skills as a doctor, and Rafe's skills as a detective depend on how quickly the writers will come up with their next idea. (Swap out other doctors and detectives as needed.)

EJ, Justin, Carrie, and Mickey are famously bad at the law - because following the law wouldn't serve the alleged interest of the viewers.

Will was a terrible writer. Philip was an awful CEO of Titan, as was Sonny.

So, who are some Salemites who are good at their jobs?

Sonny was awful at being CEO of Titan but was a terrific barista when he ran the coffee shop. He even improved the coffee at the hospital.

Paul was great at being a ball player till he was hurt and he's terrific at doing whatever he does now.

Both Harold and Henderson must be doing something great as they've both been working at their respective employers for decades.

Maggie......whose job appears to be listening to others' troubles..........she is very good at it. Listening, I mean.
She's also great at baking lemon bars.

Sarah's been shown to be a good doctor realistically (not like her alleged wonderdoc alleged brother).

Clyde is great at being a drug-runner.

Jordan was a good physical therapist.

I think it is even worse, he [Seth Burns] is the hospital administrator, so he is in charge of all the staff and making sure the hospital avoids lawsuits. He appears at times in a white coat with a stethoscope, so maybe a doctor?? Assuredly an idiot. That's never been in doubt.
Add Seth to the list of Salemites whom DUH PLOT requires be terrible at their jobs.

And speaking of hospital employees, let's add still-probably-dead Abigail to the "bad" list. When she worked in HR - or was it PR - for the hospital solely to be fired by Sami.

But let's add to the good list Anne Milbauer, whose tendency to call out in-crowd hiring and inappropriate workplace behaviour earned her a one-way ticket on the Neil Curtis expressway to another floor.
