Not sure which is worse...

Why do I get the impression, that someone higher up loves porn, but doesn't want to get into going to adult movie houses, or whatever or wherever one can view that sort of stuff, and so insists that Days pair up unlikely duos and go at it. Or something. Or is someone of the firm belief that "sex sells" thus all the flashbacks, plus seeing some couples only between the sheets (Abby/Ben, Chad/Jordan, Kate/Clyde... we have even seen via a memory flashback Serena & Eric. We have had Theresa/Brady, Daniel & Kristen "almost", probably won't be long before we find Melanie on some sofa.

As repulsed as I am by Eve and JJ, I'd watch their sex flashbacks on a loop any day over watching Sami and EJ's romps.

I'm with you.

At least EJ and Sami were both adults........JJ is still a kid. This JJ/Eve "relationship" makes me want to barf.
JJ is also an adult--he's 19 years old. Don't get me wrong, it's nasty, but still...
Neither EJ or Sami acted like an adult either.

I don't think we had as many flashbacks of the grief sex as we have with JJ and Eve. I actually turned away during the initial airing but I've still seen the vile scenes because they are shown in flashbacks at least twice a week.

And yes unfortunately JJ is a consenting adult. The issue is that Eve is old enough to be his very young grandmother. That's a stretch but it's possible given the ages of the actors (and yes I know Eve is supposed younger than her portrayer).

Back in the early 1990s, Julie and Doug were divorced and Julie was a regular and Doug was offscreen. She took up with a young doctor named Chip Lakin played by Jay Pickett. It was a similar type of age difference that JJ and Eve have. But we never saw sex scenes, just them dating and having a brief relationship. So it was done in a classier way and the actors had chemistry. JJ and Eve do not have romantic or emotional chemistry. That is the other issue here.

I'm honestly surprised that Kassie Depaiva (Eve) agreed to film these scenes the way they were filmed. Taking off the top is one thing but they didn't need to show JJ pulling off her pants too. Based on her interviews and twitter feed, she seems a bit religious in real life. I know there are many actors out there who refuse certain types of wardrobe or scenes. Most notable is Candace Cameron Bure (DJ from Full House).

You know, when I took a class in classic literature, the teacher made a point about how when novels weren't allowed to be sexually explicit, alluding to sex instead of showing it sometimes made scenes more powerful or poignant. I think the same is true of DAYS.

I've seen the clip of Eve's first experience as a prostitute, and they showed almost nothing of what actually what happened (I'll look for it later.) It was an incredibly powerful, poignant moment. Now JJ/Eve is not great storytelling to begin with in my opinion, but the fact that its so explicit dilutes anything that might have been worthwhile, at least to me.

I totally agree with that, HM. I remember when Victor & Maggie made love for the first time, they didn't show it (perhaps for obvious reasons), but it was hinted at. I thought that was romantic and sweet enough. Wish they would do more of that on Days instead of showing cheap, nasty scenes. The second JJ-Eve romp was very crude, with his mouth near her breasts and all that part. If someone wants to see that, they should watch porn instead of soaps.

Sony produced a show that is on Showtime all about sex, so no surprise there.
