Leaked audition video

Well, that's interesting. If this is legit, doesn't surprise me, since they immediately butted heads when he discovered her alive. You know when two characters don't get along, it means they'll end up "in love".

Well, I don't know what to make of that.

But if Dario is in danger of deportation just how did Rafe get a job with the Feds?
An answer outside the bizarro world of Salem could be that Mami, who was not a U.S. citizen, gave birth to Rafe in the U.S. (which makes him a U.S. citizen), but had later had Dario while living again in Mexico.

As for a Dario-Abigail marriage, that would be a fine joke on Jenny and JJ. They were concerned about poor Chad because he was a DiMera, but in this scenario, the former Ms. Perfect is planning to marry a real criminal.

It might have been interesting if the interviewer had responded to Dario's statement about running his business by asking just what he did. Dario: "Oh, my Dad and I traffic in counterfeit goods and steal microchips from other countries."

The audition tape was downloaded (or uploaded, whatever the term) on Nov. 2, 2016.

So, wasn't Eduardo an American citizen? Doesn't matter where you were born if a parent is American citizen. That entire family was living in the U.S. when Eduardo left them all. And they all remained in the U.S. after he was gone.

Seems to me that when Dario left the U.S. to go work in Venezuela for Titan, he would have had to have an American passport, and you cannot get one of those if you cannot prove your citizenship.

I'm pretty clueless about how these things work. So why would either of those actors be auditioning? The Dario guy has been around for a long while. Would it have been for the new actress who is playing Abigail? But with the way they film so far ahead, I think she's been on board a good bit longer than November 2.

Yes......the thing is, sometimes, for auditions, they use fake scripts, but sometimes one close to story???? So, I guess everyone was discussing possible story....rather than the cop who was auditioning.

I thought citizenship is based on where you were born. I know in the rare case where a baby is born on an airline, they usually get dual citizenship from where the plane is registered and where it is.

Anyway, I get that Chad and Abby need angst and whether this is a hoax or not, this is just lazy and crappy writing. A repeat of yet another previous Dena story. The leaked video we saw of Tripp a while back turned out to be true so no reason to believe this isn't either.

I think I'm out once Belle and Shawn leave for good.

My exact first thought as well.

And this was my exact "real-world logic" second thought.

You are right, at least where the mother is concerned. I have a friend whose father was a GI and he (my friend) had to be naturalised.

Please, oh, please, oh PLEASE let this be the case!

Absolutely. This plot is not only lazy, it's very dated. I have had friends who were married (for the right reasons) to non-citizens and they still had to be naturalised. And I'm not just talking about Daphne Moon-Crane on Frasier.

According to information posted at the Department of State website, if Mami was not a U.S. citizen and gave birth to the future slimeball in Mexico, and her assassin husband was a U.S. citizen at the time, the rule is as follows:

Birth Abroad to One Citizen and One Alien Parent in Wedlock
A child born abroad to one U.S. citizen parent and one alien parent acquires U.S. citizenship at birth under Section 301(g) of the INA provided the U.S. citizen parent was physically present in the United States or one of its outlying possessions for the time period required by the law applicable at the time of the child's birth. (For birth on or after November 14, 1986, a period of five years physical presence, two after the age of fourteen, is required. For birth between December 24, 1952 and November 13, 1986, a period of ten years, five after the age of fourteen, is required for physical presence in the United States or one of its outlying possessions to transmit U.S. citizenship to the child.) The U.S. citizen parent must be the genetic or the gestational parent and the legal parent of the child under local law at the time and place of the child’s birth to transmit U.S. citizenship

Regardless of what it says at this website, Days viewers shouldn't hold their breath waiting for the writers to get the legal niceties straight.

I'm wondering if my friend's father was 18 when he shipped out, which would be plausible. Thanks DBF.
