I'm wondering if Ben has a violent streak, just like his Dad, Clyde??? He certainly seems to get worked up easily, and is ready to make it physical quickly! Or am I over reacting to his protective responses for Abigail?

Ben has admitted he has a temper, but it seems to me he is using it to be protective (even if he jumps to conclusions at times).

Oh, Ben has a temper all right, but he also possesses remarkable restraint, which is a rare trait in Salem. If he didn't, creepy Clyde, and now Jeremiah, would be heading back to Poplar Bluff straight from a stay in the University Hospital E.R. The same goes for the newly-odious Chad. If Ben had pushed the issue, learned the full truth about Chad's vicious treatment of Abigail, and then gave into his temper, Mr. McNasty wouldn't have been able to wander around the DiMansion living room today, dripping water on Stefano's expensive carpets. In fact, he might not to be able to walk at all without assistance.

I agree with what everyone is saying. He acknowledges his temper, and uses it to protect those he cares about, but also shows restraint.
