Paulina's Office - Replay of Paulina firing EJ and EJ telling her Melinda left town. Paulina will find her. She'll find someone else because he blackmailed her into rehiring him. EJ plays the family card; Paulina worries that the evidence Stefan has will prevent her protecting him if it comes to that. EJ threatens to reform the CCS that will work to recall Paulina. EJ can handle Stefan.

Cardboard Li's Apartment - Jada and an officer knock at Connie's apartment door with no answer. Once again the door opens when Jada barely touches the door handle. They see blood, begin looking about the apartment. Replay of Jada opening the bedroom door to find something shocking - Cardboard Li. Both she and the officer channel Roman, "What the hell?" Jada notices the ropes and they glove up to search. Jada finds Melinda's bag and wallet with her ID. They wonder where she is now.

Pub - Stefan tells Ava that he hopes Gabi rots.

DiMansion - Replay of Connie telling Gabi she stabbed Rafe because Bobby (whom Gabi refers to as "the alter") wanted Jada, and Rafe was in the way. As Connie rants, Gabi fiddles with something in her pocket. Bobby pressured Connie because he knew she killed Li Shin. Gabi didn't want Li dead even though she hated him. Connie reveals how she framed Gabi and her "reasons". For some reason they do this without flashbacks even though this story has spanned months. Connie places the blame on Gabi for ruining Li. Connie stabs but misses, losing her balance. Gabi grabs the knife and flees.

Rafe's Hospital Room - Replay of Roman arriving at Rafe's room and talking about Gabi's dangerous new assistant. Rafe recaps the phony suicide and disconnects his monitors to go find Gabi. Roman has to restrain him. Rafe is very worried about what Connie will do. Roman will track her down.

Pub - Stefan continues to fume. Gabi calls and he ignores it. He makes another offer to manage the Bistro. She'll make more money and not have to be on her feet all day. She laughs and gives her tables to Andrea, then doffs her apron and they leave.

Cardboard Li & Connie's Apartment - Jada puts out an APB for Connie Vininski and for Melinda Trask. Jada suspects that Connie has had Melinda the whole time since her alleged leave of absence.

Bistro - Stefan and Ava have some mimosas without orange juice and toast to new beginnings. Stefan affirms that Gabi is as good as dead to him. This goes in a circle until EJ comes in and calls it a premature celebration. EJ and Stefan start to bluster about Gabi coming to EJ's bedroom.

DiMansion Entry - Roman pounds on the door. (Shot from the inside so his voice is muffled, nice touch.) He opens the door as he calls out to Gabi. He enters and walks to the living room where he keeps shouting Gabi's name. Roman does this for two scenes before walking out as the camera zooms down to a bloody poker behind the open door.

Rafe's Hospital Room - Jada arrives and recaps Cardboard Li. Rafe is surprised by this development. She also recaps her suspicions about Connie's hostage.

DiMansion Wine Cellar - Gabi is unconscious somehow. Connie says she brought a companion. We see Melinda tied up, head bandaged, and gagged. Connie ungags Melinda and is surprised she doesn't recognize this crime scene. Melinda realizes they're in the DiMansion secret room; Connie plans to kill them together.

Rafe's Hospital Room - Jada is on the phone telling the officers to cover every inch of the offending apartment. Roman arrives and says nobody was at the mansion, not even Harold. (Per Rafe this is not unheard of.) Roman doesn't think Gabi is at the mansion.

Eric and Tripp's Murder and Mayhem Apartment - Paulina is surveying the scene for some reason with the officer from earlier. The officer discusses what they found and that they hope to find Melinda alive as CSU is working to determine if the blood found was Melinda's. Later, the officer takes her into the bedroom and shows her Cardboard Li.

DiMansion Wine Cellar - Melinda argues with Connie, who couldn't sully her home with Li with murder. Connie plans to finish them off. Melinda has a flashback and another flashback.

Rafe's Hospital Room - Jada has called someone and tells Rafe that Gabi didn't go in to work today. Rafe thinks she's playing hooky with her husband. Jada updates Rafe on Gabi's marriage.

Bistro - EJ denies sleeping with Gabi this morning, Stefan doesn't believe him. EJ has a flashback that wasn't needed of not sleeping with Gabi. He looks solemnly at Stefan as Ava watches.

DiMansion Wine Cellar - Connie tells Melinda she's going to kill her and her body will never be found. It will be incinerated along with everything else in this house. Melinda gets a close-up one-shot with a look of terror. END
 
Is there ANYONE in Salem who doesn't know about the DiMera tunnels and secret rooms, besides Roman?

Horrible use of flashbacks in this episode, I really didn't need to see Connie feeding Melinda over and over.

Roman's investigating skills have weakened over time. Not that he was the sharpest detective in the drawer, but nice to show him doing something besides running the pub.

And yet another woman (Gabi) that had the opportunity to knock out Connie, and didn't. Just decided to run and not run outside! So surprised Roman didn't remember the secret room. Did love though how he just walked in and all around the mansion with no problem at all. So the DiMansion has no security?
 
For the DiMansion and K-Mansion being the homes of billionaires, the lack of security at both of them is appalling. At times they mention guards on the estate grounds, but usually anybody, including the Salem High marching band, could waltz through without anyone batting an eye.

So how did Connie schlep Melinda to DiMansion? Just how far is it from her apartment? And just like when Abe was dragged to the piers, no one saw anything?

I was thinking that the door in Connie's apartment sure has seen some action. First, Ava and Stefan started their romp up against it, and now Melinda's head was bashed on it.

Melinda has good makeup. It looked pretty good after how much time out of commission?

So is Connie going to blow up DiMansion? It will take less than a week to rebuild, since Horton House didn't take long to rebuild after the fire. Maybe they can call in Tim Allen for a special reboot of Home Improvement.

Stefan won't ever believe that EJ turned down Gabi for a bedroom encore.

Glad that Connie failed to hide Melinda's bag, so at least Jada knows who was being held hostage.

I, too, though that Roman made a few goofs. He didn't look around on the floor, behind doors, and he didn't go to the cellars.

Poor Rafe. He wants to get up but really can't and should not try. At least Jada was using the Salem Brain.
 
Good lord, they like to drag stuff out. Replay a lot from yesterday before getting today started.

Oh Stefan should have answered Gabi's call. I am betting after all this they will reconcile. He did not mean Gabi is dead to me. I hope EJ doesn't say he and Gabi had sex again. But why did we have to see replay of him turning her down? Already a short show.

You'd think Connie would be better at knifing someone but Gabi got away. No idea how she got captured. I thought she got away and was fully expecting her to fly into Bistro and catch Stefan with Ava. But nope, crazy Connie still has her. But is Gabi really unconscious?
 
Melinda sits there in a days-old pantsuit!! Roman has to know about the tunnel, Bo and even Alice were down there. Probably other family members. Funny she didn't knife Gabi when she had every advantage. If I never see grinning cardboard Li again it will be too soon. I FF most of Paulina and EJ. Another thing, how in the name of God do they get people across town with no visible means? Connie dragging Melinda down the street would be an awesome sight!!

Gabi didn't do herself a favor by lying to Stefan that she slept with EJ again since he didn't answer the phone.

Are the directions to the tunnels and safe room on the dark web?

I think the last time the secret room was used someone mentioned it wasn't really a secret anymore.
And why, oh why, doesn't anyone remember to look there first?

What happened to the DiMera staff?

Roman should have been more observant since he didn't see the bloody poker on the floor.

I like the officer that was with Jada. He was the one who noticed the blood on the floor first.

Hopefully, the DiMera mansion has a sprinkler system to put out fires.

It was nice, but I was disappointed with result.

It reminded me of "Casey at the Bat" (100+ year old baseball poem that has been adapted as a cartoon and performed as a radio play by Jackie Gleason and others). Here comes our hero to save the day. He strikes out. No joy in Salem today.
 
It was a big day for batty Connie with a cameo appearance by cardboard Li. As others have noted, we are expected to believe that clumsy Connie managed to overpower the quicker Gabi and haul her and Melinda to a DiMansion secret room without anyone noticing? Such an absurd scenario deserves an equally bizarre resolution: Harold descends into the DiMansion depths for a bottle of fine wine, discovers Connie and her captives, and overpowers her with the martial arts skills that all DiMera employees are now required to have.

Ava appears to be enjoying sitting back and watching the DiMera family follies: EJ vs. Stefan Zero. She may not care much about who wins, but the contest is worth the price of admission. In contrast, Stefano’s portrait must regard with disgust his sons fighting over an unworthy woman like Gabi.
