DiMansion Entryway - EJ, in a sweater, is talking to his mother on the phone. He wishes her a happy Turkey Day and Roger, too. The bell rings. It's Gabi. Gabi's here to collect some things and her key didn't work. EJ had the locks changed to keep out the riff-raff. EJ wants an apology before she gets her things. Two actually, one for accusing him of breaking up their marriage and one for the slap when he asked the first time. They argue about who destroyed whose marriage first.

Pub Entry - The Pub is closed for a "Private Family Event". Javi looks dismayed, calls Rafe to discuss a replacement. Rafe sends him to the Salem Inn since he thinks they use the same supplier. Javi will try. Leo walks by as he hangs up. Leo apologizes again but Javi's still not interested. Leo thinks they had a real connection before his mistake. Javi doesn't like how Leo treated him and doesn't tolerate that from anyone.

Price-Carver Townhouse - Chanel drops by to give Paulina a chocolate turkey, which is a tradition Big Momma started. Abe is resting but doing better. Paulina is still angry at Johnny. Chanel says it's in the past but Paulina's having a hard time letting it go. Chanel points out Paulina's past advice to her and reminds her that nothing more than a few ill words in front of coworkers occurred. Nothing at all. So therefore they are happy and Paulina wants that, right? Right. Chanel has to rush to the DiMansion but will be back for dessert. Lani, Eli, and the twins are en route.

Square - Joy is arguing on the phone with Nancy. She's okay with being alone on the holiday, has lots of work and even turned down an invitation from the Bradys. OF COURSE she's staying away from married me. Johnny walks by. Instead of walking away like a person with a brain, he sits down for a recap of his talking-in-his-sleep blunder. Joy tells him she told Alex. They quibble about this tersely as Chanel comes up. There's a tense moment that evaporates quickly. Chanel talks about Talia's poisoning for some reason, then they have to scoot to DiMansion because EJ demands punctuality. Joy wants to be alone but Chanel (her mother's daughter) won't hear of this. This scene goes on for 10 years.

Pub Entryway - Leo is sullen. Alex leaves the Pub. They discuss his awkward time in there with Stephanie. Alex is processing that Stephanie and Philip his cousin used to be engaged. Leo is feeling hopeless. They commiserate a bit, Leo recaps (off-screen), and Alex advises him to uncover the new Lady Whistleblower. Leo has tried reaching out to Chad (the new Whistleblower works for The Spectator) but hasn't heard back. Alex knows Leo is sneaky enough to root out the snitch (which threatens the entire show's security). Justin texts Alex, asking him to return to the dinner. Alex invites Leo, who declines so he can investigate.

Rafe's House - Javi arrives with the rolls Gabi wanted. Rafe's been cooking a lot including mama's candied sweet potatoes (camote enmielado -Galen Gering's (Rafe) Spanish has improved). Javi wants Rafe to help him eating too much of the sweet stuff. Javi recaps his run-in with Leo and his resolve to avoid him in the future. Jada arrives, she would never miss this. She has no leads on the cupcake poisonings. She likes the yams. Rafe tells her he got a job today at Black Patch. Javi cracks a joke as he telegraphs future storylines. Javi talks about a telenovela that parallels Jada and Rafe, which allows him some ham time, and Rafe and Jada some fun reactions. Jada and Rafe stay positive about their future.

DiMansion - Gabi has some things and EJ tells her never to come back as she stops out. Johnny enters with Chanel and Joy behind him. Chanel and Johnny go get more things from the car. EJ offers Joy a drink, they move to the study. EJ gives Joy a drink and tells her it's time to go. He clarifies that he wants her to leave Salem. He'll buy her out of her contract to keep her away from Salem and his son.

Rafe's House - Gabi arrives. They're about to eat. There's a knock on the door. It's Leo, who's here to hire Black Patch's new detective, Rafe.

DiMansion - Chanel and Johnny return, dinner is ready. Chanel and Johnny exit. EJ encourages Joy to take the deal. END

Thank you Jason for sparing me the 5 hours it would take to watch this.

I'm guessing EJ in his spare time is also a producer of several shows and will prop Miss Joy's career elsewhere.

Points to all who guessed Rafe would end up at Black Patch.

Happy Dinner Prep Day, Drive to Grandma's Day or just sit around watching Days.

Thanks for the summary. The show was sort of blah.

Paulina needs to stop meddling in her daughter's life and marriage. I get that she'd be concerned after what happened, but she's an adult and can handle things on her own, or ask for backup when she needs it.

Ditto EJ. I can't believe he hasn't learned his lesson about meddling in other people's business. And he, of all people, has no right to be offering his "advice" to Joy. This is going to backfire on him badly. And it probably means we'll have even more scenes of shouty Paulina reaming him out and threatening his job.

Rafe being in Black Patch is great! But it's sad and awkward that his first case will be for Leo. This is the equivalent of his old flame, Carrie, rescuing cats. I'm disappointed that so many adult characters/vets are being used as props for lame storylines involving the younger crowd.

They were just talking. She's not really meddling. If she keeps persisting, that would be meddling, but today was nothing more than a funny-faces recap. Sorry if that wasn't clear in the summary.
And it probably means we'll have even more scenes of shouty Paulina reaming him out and threatening his job.
I hadn't thought of that. I liked these scenes because they were pure EJ/DiMera and his idiot son wants Chanel and Joy could be a threat to that. He doesn't have much else for story at the moment, so this makes sense. I agree however I don't want this to carry over into the mayor/DA relationship.

I too thought of Carrie and the lost cat and the terrible ice cube when Rafe mentioned his PI history.

Thanks, Jason.

Paulina was her usual self when she told Chanel she was happy Johnny got sick since he treated Chanel bad.

It was a waste of time EJ and Gabi rehashing what was said before about apologizing to each other.

Goodness, Rafe just got hired and he already has a case. Will he find the new Lady Whistleblower? Is it someone
in Salem? Is it someone that works at B&S?

Will Jada find the cupcake poisoner?

Is the poisoner the same person who is Lady Whistleblower? Will this cause problems with Jada and Rafe?

Will Joy leave town?

Paulina once again being super annoying. It's Chanel's marriage. If she forgives her husband that is it, and none of your business.

I never thought about Rafe working for Black Patch. I like that.

I agree with EJ. Joy needs to go. And Chanel needs to stop being obsessed with her. Let the woman be alone if she wants.

Pity poor Leo, he just can’t make any headway with heartless Javi. Maybe, after Javier realizes how slim the pickings are in Salem and when his trolling for men at the West Salem Mall repeatedly fails, he’ll give poor Leo a chance.

It’s good news about Rafe joining Black Patch. He should do well, especially without lost-cat Carrie panting after him. Hopefully, he’ll have some real, high-paying cases, and isn’t just shown gossiping at the Pub or sitting in Mami’s kitchen listening to the woes of Gabi and Javi.

EJ can be a real overbearing jerk, but I’m with him about getting Joy(less) out of town. Her continued presence parents the danger of Little Johnny’s cheap, one-night stand being revealed, leading to unwelcome histrionics by Chanel and high-volume commentary by an angry Mayor Foghorn. Joy could be replaced by Chloe who just might distract foolish Shaggy Phil from his fraudulent scheme to cheat fan-favorite Xander out of his rightful inheritance.

It didn't occur to me that the Lady W stuff was posted through the Spectator. I guess I assumed it was that someone had posted a separate blog. So doesn't Stephanie still do PR for the paper. She does PR for everyone because every single place, person, thing needs a PR person in Salem. A position I don't think was covered by anyone else in all these years. So why not ask her? Or any other person at the paper?

Let the woman be alone if she wants!!
This is a particular bug of mine, too. Some people want to be alone on holidays! People who grew up in abusive situations, people who don't handle anxiety/gatherings, etc. When I worked retail I loved nothing more than just not doing anything one day of the year. I hated being forced to go to someone's house and awkwardly mill for hours - and I hadn't even slept with any attendees' husbands.
