38 minutes. It's soap opera day and a new day in Salem.

Leo walks out of the Salem Inn mumbling to himself about ideas for the soap. Hattie walks up to him and calls him Judas for losing her job.

Kate and Abe find a basket of fruit to the producers of soap. It's not signed, but Bonnie pops in and says it's from her. She hugs them and says thanks for saving her life.

Outside shot of the hospital. Kayla walks up to a fake nurses' station. Seth walks up and tells her how fun and exciting things are going. Kayla says she knew it would be good for the hospital to shoot scenes there. Seth says he's the one having fun and he's been bitten by the acting bug.

Chanel and Johnny are in bed. He apologizes to Chanel about being jealous about Alex. Alex says something. He's in the doorway wearing shorts and no top. He walks over to bed. Chanel is smiling at him. Alex climbs into bed and starts kissing Chanel. Johnny yells stop it. Then he wakes up.

Stephanie's on the phone with Jada. Rafe is at home. Stephanie says no news about Alex and she didn't see him yesterday. There's a knock on the door. It's Alex. He's wearing shorts and no shirt. He has a towel around his neck and holds a coffee cup.

Stephanie tells Jada that Alex is at the door and she hangs up. Alex walks in and gives her the cup. It's a pumpkin spice latte. He's sweaty since he went to the gym, says he's nervous about the love scene with Chanel.

Chanel brings Johnny a glass of water. Johnny tells her his dream. Chanel is sorry about his dream. Johnny says he keeps seeing images of her and Alex together. Chanel reminds him that she and Alex have no feelings for each other. What they did with Allie is in the past. They are co-workers and friends. Johnny looks shocked and says friends.

Hattie talks to Leo about him being her friend. She mentions the drag race show. Leo tries to explain he didn't write her off. It was the producers. He is upset he won't write for Charlemagne anymore. Leo says he wanted to tell her she was going to be written off, but he couldn't tell her ahead of time because Abe and Kate thought she would leave before her scenes were finished.

Bonnie finally stops hugging Abe and Kate. She's giddy that she was saved. Then says actually her character Kassandra. Bonnie goes on and on how Kassandra was sick and her son brought the miracle cure. Bonnie then talks about how Kassandra should get all of Charlemagne's stuff, her clothes, house and husband. Abe and Kate look at each other.

Kate tells Bonnie that Kassandra won't be getting any of that stuff. She reminds her the soap is an ensemble production and when Hattie didn't respect that they sent her to soap opera heaven. Kate says maybe Kassandra can join her there. Abe tells Bonnie that the soap has no stars and they all work together in harmony. Bonnie asks about a raise? Abe and Kate look at the floor. Bonnie finally leaves.

Seth talks to Kayla that he was written a new scene. He thinks the producers loved his acting, and tells Kayla if she has any influence he would like his character have a love interest.

Alex explains to Stephanie that they talked to Kate about rewriting the love scene and was told too many actors are asking for rewrites. Kate didn't want to bother Leo. Alex tells Stephanie that he and Chanel called a truce and want to start fresh since they are working on the show. Stephanie calls him mature, then she mentions Johnny.

Johnny is upset that Chanel called Alex a friend. She tells him that she and Alex agreed to get along since they're working together. Johnny says they need to get going. Chanel is going to meet Alex and run their scene at the hospital. Johnny is surprised. Chanel says Arrow and Faith use the bed after Kassandra (yuk). Johnny leaves to film Charlemagne's death scene.

Hattie is still talking to Leo about her dying. She thought Bonnie was going to be killed off. Leo said it was for shock value and ratings. Hattie says she wasn't on a week and she won't get nominated for a Daytime Emmy (again). Leo tries to make her feel better and quotes Roman "it's called show business, not show family". Leo still wants to be friends. Hattie says no and she will end him if she sees him, then walks away.

Alex tells Stephanie he suggested to Johnny to use another director, but Johnny disagreed. Alex leaves to take a shower. Stephanie says she'll drive him to the set. Alex leaves and Stephanie says to herself that she needs a cold shower too.

Leo arrives at the soap office. Kate tells him they can't afford a shark tank and asks about a goldfish bowl. Leo is upset. He tells Kate that Hattie is mad at him. He won't watch her death scene on the monitor in the office since he's upset.

At the nurses' station, Abe is wearing headphones and Seth is there. Johnny arrives to start filming the scene. Seth and Bonnie are ready to film. Hattie can't be found.

Kayla finds Chanel on a bench with a hurt back. Chanel said she bent down to tie her shoe and her back started hurting. Kayla thinks she pulled a muscle. Chanel says she has a big scene with Alex. She stands up and is in pain. Kayla tells her to rest a bit.

In the hallway at the hospital room set, Stephanie and Alex arrive. Alex is upset since Chanel's running late and he wanted to run through their lines. Stephanie agrees to run lines with him. Seth opens the door to the hallway and asks if they have seen Hattie? They say no.

Back at the nurses' station, everyone is wondering where Hattie is. Seth runs up wearing a doctor's coat and says no one has seen Hattie. Hattie finally arrives and says she got lost. She has her script in hand. Bonnie tries to talk to Hattie, but she won't listen.

Kate tells Leo the scenes he wrote were well written. He tells her the got the idea from "LA Law" when they wrote off a character.

At the nurses' station, Johnny calls action. Seth is walking with Bonnie who's holding an IV pole (is it Rafe's?). They stop at the elevator. Hattie comes around corner. She still has the script in her hand (oops). Hattie tells Bonnie that's she's happy she survived. She wants to wipe the slate clean. Bonnie puts her hand out and says truce. They shake hands. Johnny has to remind Hattie to press the elevator button.

Leo says the character Rosalind Shays turned towards elevator and fell in (on LA Law).

The elevator opens on the set. There are only wires, no cab. Bonnie and Hattie are still holding hands. Johnny tells Hattie to turn and step in.

Kayla asks Chanel if she's feeling better? Chanel needs to get to the set. Kayla says she's going to the ER. They get up.

Alex and Stephanie are now in the hospital room set. They start doing the scene. Alex gets to one part then starts kissing Stephanie. They part and start kissing again. Alex turns Stephanie to the bed.

Johnny goes to Hattie and tells her to get on the elevator. Hattie doesn't want to. Abe says there's an air mattress. Hattie doesn't want to die.

Kate and Leo are still talking about the scene. Leo says there was 90s sitcom that did it too. The actor knew his character was going to die and he didn't want to go in.

Johnny tells Hattie she can do it since she's a professional actor. Hattie says yes. Johnny wants to redo the scene after they shake hands. He says action. Hattie goes off script and wants either Seth or Bonnie to take elevator. The elevator door opens. Hattie won't go in. She says she won't help them get rid of her character and walks off.

Leo and Bonnie see each other in the square. Leo asks if Hattie took the plunge? Bonnie said she didn't do it and stormed off the set.

Kate talks to Abe about Hattie storming off the set. Hattie walks in. Kate says Hattie won't get paid. Hattie doesn't care and plans to leave Salem. She says everything with this production is cursed (I agree). She talks about Pineview going up in flames and walks out (is she going to start a fire?)

Kayla is with Chanel. Chanel's in pain and talks about the day of shooting is cursed. Kayla's going to call Kate and Abe to let them know she can't work. She's going to give Chanel something and will feel better tomorrow.

Johnny walks to the hospital room door. Seth tells him not to go in. He says Arrow and Faith got carried away (uh oh) Seth found them in a real love scene, then he leaves.

Inside the hospital room, Stephanie and Alex are doing their own love scene. There's a sheet over them. Johnny opens the door. He can't see anything except Alex. He doesn't know who's underneath him (oh my). Johnny keeps staring.

Leo mentioned a sitcom where an actor was fired. He was probably talking about Friends when Joey lost his role on Days. I found a video from Good Times where a character died, but that show was before the 90s.

I got confused. I thought Johnny was filming the scene to keep, but Hattie held on to her script the whole time. Unsure if it was not noticed when filming or it was supposed to be filmed that way.

Does Seth know Chanel? Does he think Stephanie is Chanel or the actress playing Faith?

He was definitely talking about Friends when they killed off Joey's character Dr. Drake Ramoray. Roark Critchlow (Mike Horton) is in the scene. Joey had ticked off the headwriter (played by Days' real life headwriter, Jim Reilly) by saying he wrote his own lines, so he killed off Drake.

Great job, Kat, and thanks for posting those videos. I remember that scene.

Thanks, Just Samantha! I really remember that!

I always look where I'm going and make sure the elevator is there before I get on!

Sidebar: Matt LeBlanc was in a very good show called Episodes, ran from 2011-2017, initially on Showtime. It might be available on other streaming services now. He played a satirical version of himself, working with two British TV show writers. I recommend it to anyone who can stream it on one of these channels:
  • fuboTV
  • Paramount+
  • Showtime
  • Spectrum On Demand
  • Amazon Prime
  • Hulu
  • Vudu
  • FuboTV

But I digress. I believe that Seth just had knowledge of Faith and Arrow rehearsing, but I don't think he does know it is Chanel and Alex. To anyone walking into that room, only Alex was visible. Had Johnny called out Chanel's name, Stephanie would have shown her face. Therefore, avoiding a battle royale between Chanel and Johnny. We don't want to see yet another fight between these two, but duh plot, duh plot!

Kayla can vouch for Chanel's injury and whereabouts, but I'm sure that won't happen until after the fight begins. Chanel will be angry that Johnny does not believe her and does not trust her. She will move out to Paulina's for a while.

I think the show is cursed already. Maybe it will be SO cursed that it will not even see the light of day. If only!

Bonnie was as annoying as ever.

I kind of side with Hattie a bit, as she really was blindsided. I don't blame her for walking out. Will they get Marlena to play that elevator scene?
