38 minutes. It's evening in Salem.

Stephanie and Jada are at the pub having dinner. They discuss Sarah's hit and run case. Jada says Brady's been released and she's going to talk to Rafe about going back to work. Jada asks about Stephanie, who says she slept with Alex again.

Alex opens his apartment door. Justin says trick or treat. Alex says he has no candy. Justin walks in with a pumpkin and a bag. He brought pumpkin so they could carve it like when Alex was a kid. Then Justin pulls out a six pack of beer if Alex didn't want to do that.

Bonnie in the K-Mansion den. She's practicing lines for work. Bonnie asks Henderson for a drink so she can see a friendly face. Nancy walks in.

Chanel's outside bakery talking to Johnny on the phone. She invites him to dinner. Johnny lies that he's at the studio (he's at Small Bar) and says Kate needs to him work late.

Nancy and Bonnie hug. Nancy said Henderson let her in. (why won't they hire someone else?) Nancy doesn't want to talk about herself. She asks Bonnie if she's a soap opera star? Bonnie does some lines. Nancy says she's there about the soap opera.

Chanel's still on the phone with Johnny and asks how long he'll be? He doesn't know, as he drinks a beer. She understands his working since she woke him up early for the bakery. Johnny tells her he stopped by the bakery when she wasn't there. She tells him she was running an errand. Johnny has flashback of Chanel talking to Alex at his apartment. She lies that she went to the pharmacy for medicine for her back. Then tells him her back seems better. They hang up. Johnny says pharmacy, my butt.

Alex and Justin are drinking beer on the couch, discussing how Xander found his mom trying to push Sarah down the stairs. Alex says what they do on the soap seems tame. Justin talks about how art imitates life. They talk about Bonnie and how she likes working with Alex. They discuss Chanel, and Alex says things got messy with another co-worker.

Stephanie says she and Alex agreed to be friends, but then started making out. She says they're trying to be friends, but can't keep their hands off each other. Jada says that it will probably happen again and asks what happens next? Stephanie doesn't know.

Bonnie tells Nancy it was Kate and Abe's idea to keep the soap opera alive. Nancy says she likes the divas. She read in a soap magazine they still need to cast. Bonnie asks if Nancy's interested in a part? Nancy says no. She wants her daughter to audition and she hopes Bonnie will help her.

Paulina meets Chanel in the square to have dinner. Chanel tells her mom that Johnny is working late. Paulina is surprised. Chanel's happy Johnny has the job. Paulina says Johnny should have dinner with his wife and not work so late.

A young woman sits next to Johnny at the bar. She complains to him she's been been traveling with her mom all day. Johnny's not interested. She asks him to get her a beer while she fixes her hair.

The woman comes back and finds a beer. She talks to Johnny how her travel went with her mom that was full of drama. Johnny's hardly listening. She continues to discuss her trip. After going through security, her mom made snide remarks about the other passengers. She asks Johnny if he's listening? He says no because other people have problems too. She gets up to leave. Johnny stops her. He says his name. She says her name is Joy.

Paulina and Chanel are eating dinner. Paulina asks how things going with her and Johnny after the fight in her apartment? Chanel says all is well especially tomorrow when she has Johnny's surprise party. Paulina wants to help. Chanel mentions her mom having Ricky Martin at her 5th birthday party, the says Alex is helping her.

Alex and Justin talk about Stephanie. Justin's happy they're friends again and realizes they're more than friends. Alex says sort of. Justin wants to know if they're get back together?

Jada asks if Stephanie and Alex talked? Stephanie says she woke up and ran out since she was disappointed. They agreed not do anything and just be friends. Jada asks if they're still friends? Stephanie says yes. Jada says it's ok to have occasional sex unless someone wants more than that.

Bonnie asks Nancy if she wants Chloe to try out for soap? Nancy says no since Chloe sings. She wants Joy to audition.

Joy sits back down at the bar. Johnny says he's sorry he's in a bad mood. He tells her his wife is cheating on him.

Nancy says Joy is a handful, she is stubborn and feisty. Bonnie says that sounds familiar. Nancy says she's like her mother and Joy gets into messy situations.

Joy talks to Johnny about his wife cheating on him. Johnny can't believe he said it. Joy says that's ok since they probably don't know anyone in common (that's not true). Joy says she has a lifetime experience assuming the worst and she asks if he jumping to conclusions? (that's a fact) Johnny says he walked in on them (not really), then says that he knows the man and his wife works with him. He adds that the guy slept with his wife before they were married. Joy asks if he's ok with them working together? Johnny says she swore that was in the past.

Chanel tells Paulina that Alex was an ally. After first bedroom scene is done, everything will be fine and Johnny won't see Alex as a threat. The love scene will be tomorrow.

Alex says he and Stephanie aren't getting back together. He reminds Justin both of them are just out of relationships. Justin says Everett and Theresa are both gone.

Stephanie tells Jada that she and Alex don't want more than friendship now. Jada says with lovemaking? Stephanie says no one's in love. Jada feels something is going on.

Nancy shows Bonnie a picture of Joy. Bonnie says she's beautiful. Nancy says she knows it, and Joy's a drama queen. She brought Joy so she can bring it to the screen. Nancy says Joy's adrift and if she gets part on soap opera she'll find her purpose.

Joy asks about confronting his wife? Johnny says he wanted to and beat guy up, but he went numb. (too bad he didn't do anything that day. It's Salem). Johnny hoped Chanel would confess and say it was a mistake. He hoped to work past it. She didn't act like anything happened and lied to him. He says she snuck out and saw him the next day (won't he be surprised?) He saw her there and made the person promise not say anything. He says he doesn't know who she is anymore. Johnny says he hasn't talked to her because when he does it will become real. (not this time)

Chanel wants to do the love scene then surprise Johnny with a party. She hopes with Alex helping, that Johnny can see what kind of person he is and they'll all be friends. She hopes after doing love scene everything will be better moving forward. Chanel says after tomorrow it will be smooth sailing.

Alex tells Justin how Stephanie kept him steady after what happened. He remembers what happened before and he hurt her badly. Alex knows they should just be friends. Justin says they are sort of more than friends. Alex said she ran out like the apartment was on fire, saying it was a mistake. Justin asks if he agrees that it was?

Stephanie tells Jada she thought about getting back together, but it was terrible the last time. She doesn't want to risk their friendship and Alex doesn't feel the same way. Jada asks Stephanie if she asked him?

Stephanie says she hasn't talked to Alex if he has feelings. She would be embarrassed if he doesn't. She says old Alex was a player and a bad boyfriend. Stephanie knows he's changed, but by how much? She's confused about her feelings and says they'll just friends and no more sex.

Alex asks Justin if he even has a knife to cut the pumpkin? Justin knows Alex is avoiding his question. Alex knows Stephanie's not interested in him like that, and wants to carve the pumpkin. Justin tells Alex that he's doing gut duty on the pumpkin and getting his fingers all sticky.

Bonnie and Nancy hug. Nancy congratulates her on being a diva. Bonnie will put in a good word for Nancy's daughter and throw her weight around and get Joy an audition.

Joy asks Johnny what's he going to do? He says it's getting old staying in the bar except for her company. Joy says he can't let his wife cheat on him.

Chanel wants to pay for dinner. Paulina says she's paying. She tells Chanel she's a wonderful wife, an entrepreneur, and actress. Chanel says her mom has good marriage and is the mayor. Chanel gets up to leave. She wants to be rested for her scenes and the big surprise. (she'll get a surprise too).

Johnny agrees he has to confront his wife sooner than later. Joy asks tonight? Johnny says not tonight. They stare at each other. Then Johnny smiles.

Thanks, Kat! You got sort of a dud today, but it was good to see Nancy. She looked fabulous!

I posted the sad emoji, because I already don't see Joy being in Salem as a good thing. She is trouble! She is anything BUT her name.

At least Johnny admitted he was married, which I don't think will mean anything to Joy. Since neither she nor Johnny mentioned Body & Soul, we know what will happen, no need to say it, and only afterwards will it get awkward when she auditions for the show. Ouch!

Liked the scenes with Justin and Alex, and Alex calling him Dad. We need more of that.

Stephanie and Alex could have been good together in the beginning, if only he didn't do what he did with her phone. He really fell for her hard, and she was starting to feel the same. But as Stephanie herself said, they just were not meant to be. He has grown some, not a player like he was. But they are probably better at being friends and watching movies together. Period.

I wonder if Chloe will return with Philip?

Per Co-Pilot: Chloe Lane and Joy Wesley are about 15 years apart. Chloe was born on August 23, 1984, while Joy was born on March 7, 2003. But calculations prove that they are more than 15 years apart if the years are correct. That would make Chloe 40, and Joy would be 21. More like 19 years apart. They look like they could certainly be those ages.

Wait til the surprise party happens, if it does. Johnny will have so much egg on his face, he will become a breakfast item on the menu at Brady Pub.

For me, that they grew up as cousins gives me the ick. It's not like they didn't know one another. Same as Stephanie and her legal uncle, Max Brady. Granted, Max is now with Chelsea, his legal niece, but they didn't grow up together and didn't meet until Chelsea was a young woman.

Per Co-Pilot: Chloe Lane and Joy Wesley are about 15 years apart.
EJ was born after Will, yet returned to Salem as a full adult, older than Sami, then later became teenage Will's stepfather. Ages can be taken with a grain of salt on all soaps.

I thought "Nancy" was, hmmm. You could tell me that she is the same actress that just played the psycho formerly known as Gabi's assistant, and I'd believe you. Like, put a black wig on her and change up the makeup, and boom, same person It's crazy to me how much they look alike. Am I going crazy? Haha! I mean, maybe I am. I need a nap. Because after watching the show, I can definitely tell it's not the same person, I just thought "oh, she's back" when I first glanced at that thumbnail.

Henderson let her in
I wonder if "Henderson" is a name like Dread Pirate Roberts from the book and movie The Princess Bride, where a year before retirement the person picks his replacement, trains him then retires. The folks living in those houses never see the staff so "Henderson" could actually be someone different and they'd never know.
She talks to Johnny how her travel went with her mom that was full of drama
I'd really like a teen introduction that DOESN'T include full on bashing of one's parent. Is Joy old enough to have an adult beverage and old enough to do adult bed activity, without involving law enforcement? Is that why she told Johnny (who I'd call dumber than rocks but don't want to insult rocks) to order her a beer because she wouldn't pass the show-your-ID check?

I did like the attempt at friendship conversations. Jada and Stephanie, Bonnie and Nancy, Justin and Alex. Not necessarily the conversations but the attempts of friendships.

Thanks kat for the summary.

Joy was born in March of 2003, so she's 21 in real life years. She might be in her mid-20's by Salem time.

Henderson and Harold
I just checked. Ron Leath (Henderson, the K-Mansion butler) last appeared on 2/3/2017, but he's been mentioned many times after.

Julian Barnes (Harold, the DiMansion butler) was last seen 9/27/2018, and he's also been mentioned many times since then.

I used IMDB to check this. If they appeared after those dates and weren't logged on their IMDB pages, Jason47 would know the last time each one appeared on Days.

I sometimes get Patrika Darbo (Nancy Wesley) mixed up with Edie McClurg (non-Nancy). While watching today's episode, I was briefly thinking that I saw Patrika Darbo a couple of weeks ago while watching Elvira: Mistress of the Dark. Except that was Edie McClurg.

Exactly, tomorrow they could tell us Joy is 10 years older than Chloe, and we'd have to "go with it".
Is Joy old enough to have an adult beverage and old enough to do adult bed activity, without involving law enforcement?
Chronologically, yes; also, she was mentioned as being in graduate school about 18 months ago (?).
Not necessarily the conversations but the attempts of friendships.
Seconded.

I have no problems with Joy. But after this episode I want Johnny to learn how he was conceived, get drunk, and drive a Porsche into DiMansion, killing him and all extant DiMera.

Oh, that's right, Just Samantha, forgot about the cousins part. And, yes, ages really are not a factor on this show. They have taken SORASing to a new level and forget about history.

DaysLady: I agree that Julie Dove (Connie) and Patrika Darbo (Nancy) have passing resemblances to each other despite the age difference.

Patrika Darbo (Nancy) had a funny turn on Roseanne, when Roseanne thought Dan was cheating on her with her character who worked in a hardware store. The episode is "Dream Lover" from 1990. Here is a short clip. Patrika makes her entrance at 0:45. Watch the whole clip. Enjoy!

Stephanie and Alex could have been good together in the beginning, if only he didn't do what he did with her phone.
Referencing an earlier post, what did Alex do to Stephanie's phone?
