Leo finally takes a day off!

Arnold is rocking out in a Kiss the Cook apron. Jada comes in and complains about the lack of sleep due to working so many cases. Arnold has made her breakfast. She goes to kiss him but they are gratefully interrupted by EJ knocking at the door.

Stephanie has received her Jada/Rafe wedding invitation. Her phone rings and she tells Philip to get lost. Philip thanks her for not telling Xander about the FORGED LETTER in case you'd forgotten. Stephanie calls him a jerk and says she did it for Sarah, not him.

Sarah is chatting with Victor's portrait and tells him it's his secret that got her in this mess. She has to keep the peace by stopping Xander from killing Philip and turning into Victor. She worries about Xander running Titan solo. The truth must never come out about THE LETTER but she feels guilty.

On cue, Xander pops in and wants to know what she feels guilty about? Sarah says she was telling Victor she feels bad about not being there for Justin. Xander comments that Victor would have loved making cracks about Bonnie getting shafted. Sarah can't believe it happened. Her heart goes out to Justin.

Alex embraces Justin. He has not seen Bonnie yet. He's preparing himself. Alex offers to go in with him.

Bonnie is in a darkened room attached to tubes and moaning. Justin looks sorrowful.

Justin tells her she will be fine. Bonnie whimpers incoherently. Alex translates that she has 60 pages of dialogue to learn. Justin tells her she has no responsibility to that derelict production and her days of playing Kassandra are done. Alex tells him not to over react. Justin has told Abe and Kate that Bonnie is never returning and thanks to their negligence she was almost killed. Bonnie squeaks some more.

Xander muses that one never knows what the world will throw at you. One minute Bonnie was on top of the world as a soap star and the next plummeting to her doom. Sarah notes Bonnie is lucky. Xander is lucky too, because he is married to her. Sarah hugs him while Victor glares at her.

Stephanie explains to Philip that Sarah is worried about Xander with absolute power. She wants someone to keep him in check, even if it's somebody as morally bankrupt as Philip. Philip thanks her for the vote of confidence. Stephanie says he has to live with tricking his own brother out of his birthright. Philip whines that Victor would have wanted him in charge. Stephanie is sick of listening to him justify his behavior; what he did was wrong. She uses the word egregiously and launches into a lecture about how she fought for him and almost got back with him. She wants him to stop calling her. She just hopes Xander never finds out for Sarah's sake and his. She hangs up and Philip remarks that went well.

EJ lies he wanted a Sloan update. Jada says he could have phoned. She heads to work and EJ tells her if Rafe was still in charge Rachel would be home by now (not likely). Jada gets defensive. She has the whole department on it. EJ threatens to sue the Salem PD. Jada calls him a bully. She goes to kiss Arnold but sees EJ's disapproving glare and departs. EJ lays into Arnold, what is going on with Jada? Arnold smirks and implies something about the night before while EJ blusters.

EJ wants to know where Arnold's shirt and pants are? He gets hot when he cooks but did not get hot with Jada as she was out looking for Rachel all night. They didn't share the bed at all. EJ says his task is to make Jada pay for costing him his job.

Xander wants to know if Sarah connected with Kayla yet about going back to work? She is going to track down Kayla and check on Justin. Xander says to give him and Bonnie his best. He says he has to go too, lots to do at Titan! Sarah says he almost sounds enthusiastic. Xander assures her things are going well since he adjusted his attitude. Sarah looks pleased. The partnership might actually work out.

Xander reminds her he promised Maggie to do his best to get along with Philip and it's nice to look forward to going to work instead of being filled with fury and dread. He has no choice anyway thanks to, you know, THE LETTER. He saunters out and Victor resumes glaring at Sarah.

Alex is aghast that Justin is suing B&S. Justin is going to grind the production and the miscreants who run it into dust. It will have to be rebranded as the Bonnie and the Beautiful. Alex tells him to take it easy. It was an accident. Bonnie squeaks. Justin is angry Alex is siding with his employers. Justin is going to make them pay. Alex thinks he sounds like Uncle Vic. Bonnie bleats in defense of Abe and Kate. Richard from wardrobe calls. Justin blames him for calling Bonnie to a last minute fitting. His text set this all in motion. But according to Richard he never sent a text. Bonnie makes more strangled noises.

Alex repeats that wardrobe never sent a text. Why would Richard lie? Alex says maybe Justin scared him. Justin checks her phone. He finds the text but it was not sent from Richard. Richard is innocent! Unknown number. Richard is saved as a contact so that makes no sense.

EJ uses the term turnabout is fair play. Arnold doesn't know what that means. EJ reminds himself he is dealing with someone with the IQ of a thumbtack as Arnold swills milk from the carton. EJ explains that he is going to do to Jada what she did to him. Arnold says you want to get her canned. EJ concurs. He is going to use him to do it. More milk swilling.

Jada at hospital talking to unseen Shawn. He and JJ are on the Rachel case. She runs into Stephanie. She was up all night on the Rachel case and now she has to question Bonnie. Stephanie bugs her eyes. Paulina wants Jada on this personally. Stephanie is doing media control. They look at the taped off elevator and marvel at Bonnie's stupidity. Jada calls it a freak accident. Stephanie whines that ever since she took on B&S as a client it's like a constant game of whack a mole putting out crises. Jada is sympathetic as Stephanie is also going through a break up. She didn't tell Jada what happened. Why did she end things with Philip?

Xander comes into the office with a cheery good morning, brother! Philip wonders if MTV brought back Punked or was that a genuine friendly greeting. Xander notes that he came bearing a friendly croissant the day before. Philip says friendly coexistence is still something he's getting used to. Xander doesn't want to just coexist. He wants them to be a team. Equals. Partners. Working together to make Titan the best it can be. Philip wants that too. Xander says so does Victor. If not he would never have written THE LETTER.

Xander continues that both he and Philip have wanted this for so long, to carry on the Kiriakis legacy. He says they should do it for Victor. They need to make the old man proud. Philip mutters agreement. He wants to get coffee for Xander. Xander demurs. Much to do. And no more hostile DiMera takeover talk. He agrees it was a bad idea now. Philip says "or not". On reflection he is into it. If they are going to make their mark on Titan maybe this is how they do it. By accomplishing what Victor never could: taking control of Stefano's empire. Xander is interested.

Kayla is in her office when Sarah comes in. Kayla feels awful about the accident. Bonnie has terrible injuries. Kayla thanks Sarah for her research. She hopes it wasn't tedious. They talk about Stephanie and Philip and their break up. Kayla says she knows all. No secrets with Stephanie. Sarah is all so you know what Philip did??

Kayla does not know about THE LETTER. She got no specifics just Philip being dishonest about a business maneuver. Did she tell Sarah more? Sarah goes into a flashback of Stephanie telling her that THE LETTER is A FORGERY and makes guilty faces.

Xander is processing. When he brought up going after DiMera, Philip thought it was a terrible idea. What changed his mind? You know what we need? Yes you guessed it, another flashback. This one is Philip recalling Sarah telling him he has to work with Xander or the deal is off.

Philip says he has realized that if they are going to work together he has to compromise. Xander is surprised at the reversal. The other night he gave him a big speech about not wanting to operate that way anymore. Philip says in an ideal world yes but in the real world he has to be flexible. Xander recalls him being worried about putting his girlfriend Stephanie in danger. Philip advises him that she is no longer his girlfriend. Xander offers no sympathy just wonders what happened there.

Stephanie tells Jada she's her best friend and of course she will tell her all about her breakup. And we have to endure yet another flashback. This one is Stephanie telling Sarah she feels like an accomplice but wants to protect Philip from death by Xander. She tells Jada that Philip puts power over everything else. She can't deal with the way he does business. She can't separate the good Philip from the bad one. On the bright side she has free time to help with the wedding. Jada wants her to be maid of honor. Stephanie unhinged her jaw in glee.

Arnold does not know how he is supposed to get Jada fired. EJ wants her exposed as a dirty cop. Arnold isn't actually a PI. EJ says he will do the digging and Arnold will do the exposing. Arnold shovels in eggs.

Alex and Justin continue to puzzle out the mystery of the text while Bonnie makes guttural noises. Alex has had enough and gives them alone time. Justin thinks they need to involve the police. He assures Bonnie they will get to the bottom of this.

Jada tells Stephanie that Talia and her eyebrows can't make the wedding. Stephanie is like a sister to her. Stephanie is thrilled to accept the gig.

Philip tells Xander he and Stephanie didn't see eye to eye so she isn't a factor anymore. He may have been hasty standing in Xander's way in going after DiMera. A hostile takeover is a big move. They have to consider timing. Xander says the time is now with Stefan, EJ and Chad all out and Kristen distracted. Philip says with Rachel missing? Isn't that a bit ruthless? Xander scoffs. Did Philip go soft in the loony bin? Philip has lines he won't cross. So does Xander but this isn't one of them.

Philip clarifies that they want to profit off a missing child who also happens to be Brady's. Xander says for all they know Brady has Rachel stashed somewhere. Or Kristen does. He cites the eternal custody battle where poor Rachel is endlessly kidnapped by one of her own parents. Philip says this time she ran away. Xander is confident she will turn up safe and sound. In the meantime Kristen is off her game and they can strike now.

Philip recalls Kristen trying to blackmail Titan away from Xander using the serum. Philip remembers the two vials for some reason. Xander is disgusted that Kristen tried to barter for Sarah's future. He then drives home a point guaranteed to get Philip on board; he reminds him that Kristen did the same to Kate, using the orchid to barter for Kate's life.

Philip calls Kristen a snake. Xander says she's a monster. He asked Kristen what she even wanted with Titan and all she said was merging two big competitors would make her unstoppable. Philip notes she wasn't wrong. Xander says nor is he which is his pitch to Philip. Kristen had no problem taking advantage of him when he was at his most vulnerable. She had no sympathy, no compassion, she just saw an opportunity to take it all and didn't hesitate. Now the shoe is on the other foot why should they?

Alex reports Bonnie's broken jaw and limbs to Jada and Stephanie. Jada goes to question her. Good luck with that. Stephanie and Alex leer at each other.

Arnold is going over the plan. With EJ's dirt Paulina will have no option and will have to toss Jada out on her behind. Arnold makes a lewd comment about said behind. EJ gets a migraine and warns Arnold no more of that talk. Arnold wants to know who would replace Jada? EJ splutters. Idiot Arnold will replace her as Rafe. Arnold gets it. Sort of. What does EJ get out of it? EJ explains once Rafe explains Jada's corruption to Paulina she will have to hire him back. Arnold doesn't think so.

Jada enters the room and Bonnie makes noises like cats with their tails stepped on. Justin tells her he suspects foul play.

End scenes:

Kayla is pleased that Sarah is cleared by a physical therapist. She would love her back full-time at the hospital. She is glad that she was there for Stephanie. She thinks she dodged a bullet. She talks about Philip almost getting Stephanie killed and the business with framing Brady. She worries there is something broken in Philip that can't be fixed. She isn't sure if he was born that way or if it's because of what Victor put him through. She thinks it's just a matter of time before he hurts Stephanie or someone else. Sarah is wondering if putting Philip in charge of containing Xander's worst impulses was perhaps not a great one.

Stephanie and Alex talk about the text. She is also excited to be maid of honor. She tells Alex about breaking up with Philip when he asks if he will be catching the garter.

Philip is convinced. Kristen never cared about kicking them when they were down and would do it again. Stefano was the definition of ruthless. Xander points out so was their father. Xander is thrilled. Are the Kiriakis brothers really going after the DiMeras? Philip says game on. Kristen and the rest of the losers won't know what hits them. Xander smiles a pleased smile.

EJ tells Arnold the wedding goes as planned. And if his plan works it will be an affair to remember.

Jada wonders if someone from wardrobe could have sent the text? Justin says what if it's more nefarious. Bonnie squeals. Justin cites the cupcakes and says whoever did that might have tried to kill Bonnie.

In the park, a hat and gloved clad person with a giant Bonnie picture crosses her face out with a sharpie.

Thank you brisbydog for the summary. Lots of recapping things that happened recently but Xander and Philip getting along? Is Philip playing Xander? Saying he is all for this only to back out at a crucial point? Humm, he is crazy enough to do so.

Park person, really, how silly was that? Someone going after the cast and crew of B&S.

I love that Sarah thought she was putting a responsible person in charge of Xander but instead she has basically unleashed them to team up to do their worst. Xander citing Kristen using the orchid as bait for Kate's life was a master stroke of manipulation.

Good episode though. Bonnie got on my nerves as did the frequent flashbacks padding out part 2

EJ's thinly veiled patience with Arnold is a hoot.

Sarah’s inexperience with blackmail showed when Xander asked Philip why he’d changed his tune. He flashed back to his conversation with Sarah, which implied that what he took from their talk was that he had to play ball with Xander, or Sarah would spill everything.

Arnold shovels in eggs.
Well, kudos, I guess ---?--- that they remembered Arnold's key trait is he eats food.

I like the Philip/Xander stuff. I'm hoping they eventually settle on 49/49 with someone else holding the deciding vote if the brothers don't agree. As long as the story keeps today's pace and integrity, it can take its time.

I'm wondering if we know the BS stalker or if it's a nobody. I am partially wondering if it will be a walk-on for Re-Ron himself (à la Paul Rauch on Santa Barbara).

It happened at the end of yesterday's episode.
Bonnie's on the phone with Justin. She tells him about working with Hattie. She'll be home soon. She got a text from wardrobe to do a fitting, and hangs up. Bonnie pushes the elevator button while looking at her phone. She steps into the elevator shaft as Alex comes around the corner. Bonnie screams and you hear a splat.

Thanks, brisbydog.

It's a new day in Salem.

Hopefully, Arnold will be found out before the wedding and EJ goes to jail before his plan starts.

Poor Bonnie. I'm glad Justin figured out something was amiss with the text.

Xander and Philip are going after DiMera. Will they succeed?

Rachel is missing. Where or where can she be?

The line of the day goes to EJ when he said to Arnold "has the IQ of a thumbtack"

Arnold can cook? Who knew? It’s a good thing for him that Jada doesn’t have a thing for huevos rancheros instead of scrambled eggs. A Hernandez who couldn’t prepare Mexican-style meals would raise suspicions.

What’s with Justin? Why isn’t he investigating the possibility of suing somebody over Bonnie’s injuries? The fact that she was able to fall down an elevator shaft smells like negligence on somebody’s part.

Finally, Sarah is placing too much faith in the unethical Shaggy’s ability to soothe the savage Xander, She should be looking for a second Charlie Dale whom Xander could help with his social life. When the original Charlie worked at Titan the mighty X-Man was on his best behavior.
