Police Station establishing shot. Paulina enters Jada’s office and Jada pitches the idea of replacing EJ as DA. Paulina is surprised and asks if she has anyone in mind? Jada says Belle Black.

In the main police station area, Shawn walks in and is surprised to see Belle. He asks if she had a client in holding, she says no she had a meeting with Jada. She starts fidgeting, which Shawn notes she only does when she’s anxious. She tells him about Jada’s offer.

DiMansion living room: replay of Friday’s conversation about Arnold/Fake Rafe leaving Salem. EJ answers the door to find Rafe, who says he’s there on behalf of Ava Vitali.

Horton Town Square: Ava is looking at the text message on her phone and gets tapped on the shoulder. She spins around thinking it’s Kristen, but it’s not. She apologizes saying she thought she was someone else. The woman introduces herself as Amy Choi, Sophia’s mother. She met Ava before Sophia’s interview at the Bistro. She asks if she might be able to give Sophia her retainer that she forgot to pack for her college visit trip with her friend that she’s supposed to leave for right after her shift. Ava says normally she’d be fine with helping, but Sophia isn't working today.

Black-Evans Townhouse: replay of Tate and Sophia’s conversation before exiting. They open the door and Holly catches them, asking what is going on? She spouts off that she was worried about whether Tate would be jealous of her going to a concert with a new guy in town when clearly he’s heading off on some pleasure trip with Sophia.

DiMansion: Arnold puts a cup up to the door to hear the conversation at the door. Rafe tells EJ that Ava hired Black Patch to look into the harassing texts she’s received. EJ assures him he hasn’t given Ava a millisecond of thought and for him to go bark up another tree. Rafe explains that Steve pinpointed the location of the texts to the mansion.

Police Station: Belle tells Shawn to keep quiet so no one hears. Shawn asks if this is because Jada is tired of Belle beating EJ in court? She says something like that, then explains that Jada said she would only bring up the subject to Mayor Price if she knew she had a replacement, so Belle committed to taking the job if it all happens. Shawn says he can only imagine EJ’s reaction, especially given their history. Belle snaps back that yet again, he’s throwing her affair with EJ in her face, though Shawn says that’s not what he meant.

Jada’s office: a less-than-thrilled Paulina lets Jada explain herself. Jada admits she may be working a little outside her lane, but she’s concerned that EJ isn’t bringing the criminals they’re arresting to justice. She mentions Hattie Adams walking because EJ began questioning her before she had a lawyer present, which gave Belle an opportunity to stop him. Paulina agrees that Belle may be the better lawyer. Jada is also concerned that due to the DiMera’s connections to organized crimes, EJ sometimes has ulterior motives to not prosecuting certain criminals.

DiMansion: Rafe stops EJ’s protesting and says not everything is about him. They have reason to believe the texts were from Kristen and asks if she’s home? EJ says she’s at work, so trot on over to DiMera Enterprises to question her. He will, but while he’s there, he has some questions about another matter. Fake Rafe continues listening on the other side of the door.

Town Square: Amy asks if her daughter was lying to her about working? Ava thinks she got herself confused with another employee who asked for the next couple of days off, so she’ll gladly give the retainer to Sophia. Amy then asks if she’s noticed Sophia acting any differently lately? She seems distant the past couple of weeks and when asked about her friends, she says she doesn’t really talk to them anymore. Ava says she understands if she’s talking about Holly Jonas and Tate Black.
Amy thinks what Tate did leading Sophia on was wrong. Ava agrees that’s probably why she’s been upset the past couple of weeks. But Amy doesn’t understand that since prom was back in the spring. Ava quickly covers saying that Holly and Tate just got back together so those old feelings must be coming back. Amy says you weren’t talking about prom, though. Has my daughter been seeing that boy behind my back?

Black-Evans Townhouse: Tate says it’s not what you think. Holly continues grilling them as Tate awkwardly looks trying to avoid saying anything. Sophia finally says so I’m the one who has to say something? We’re not going to Disneyland, we’re going to get an abortion.

Town Square: Ava tries to cover for Sophia but Amy isn’t having it. She pleads, mother to mother, for Ava to tell her what’s going on with Sophia and Tate.

Townhouse: Tate asks Sophia if he can have a few moments alone with Holly? Sophia leaves the townhouse as Tate begins to explain that he doesn’t know how this happened since they were careful and he was shocked. He’s only known for a couple of days, and he was trying to protect Holly by not telling her. She understands but wishes he would have told her. He tells her that Sophia doesn’t want to have the baby but she can’t do anything in this state because she needs parental consent, which she knows she wouldn’t have. Holly agrees as she knows Sophia’s parents. So they found a clinic out of state and were going to quickly take care of it so no one would ever find out. Holly says, especially me.

Police Station: Shawn repeatedly says the wrong thing unintentionally about EJ and Belle. He’s just trying to protect her since he knows how vindictive EJ can be. Belle understands that and admits that she wasn’t even sure if she wanted to stay in Salem. Shawn asks why she is then? Jada convinced her that EJ has been ineffective as DA and has been using the department to selectively prosecute his friends and enemies, and part of that is on her having successfully defended people who may or may not be guilty of committing crimes. She thinks maybe it’s time to be on the right side of the law and to work from a place of integrity. She feels that she’s not really needed anymore with Claire in South Africa and that maybe she is needed in Salem. Shawn agrees she would be a massive improvement over EJ as District Attorney.

Jada’s office: Paulina is skeptical that EJ is intentionally throwing cases, but Jada has been looking into his record and has found a connection with defendants who are affiliated with the DiMera family. Paulina agrees it may be time to remove EJ, but reminds Jada that she did replace him for about a minute with Melinda Trask, only to reappoint him after he blackmailed her. She says she shouldn’t have let him get away with it but that it’s complicated due to her daughter being married to his son. She doesn’t want to cause any more drama in that family.

DiMansion: Rafe notices EJ is antsy and trying to get him to leave and asks if he really wants him to come back again tomorrow? EJ says fine, ask your questions. He has a client who is trying to find the identity of the new Lady Whistleblower that has been leaking “Body & Soul” stories. EJ chuckles as he tells Rafe that while he’s happy for his son’s TV directing career, he’s not a fan of soap operas, so rest assured he is not a gossip columnist. Rafe again tells him it’s not about him, that he’s come to question Johnny and Chanel to see if they can provide any info about the leaks. They’re also not home, so he can leave. Fake Rafe is eating a pastry with his ear up to the glass on the door and the glass falls to the ground shattering.

Rafe asks what that was? EJ plays cool saying whatever it was, Harold will take care of it. He says just the other day, Rachel broke a vase practicing karate and he told her not to worry about it because things are just things. Rafe isn’t buying it. He says when he first arrived, EJ was antsy and now he’s cool as a cucumber. His spidey sense is getting tingly. What are you hiding?

Jada’s office: Now Paulina doesn’t want to look like she’s playing the family card. She acknowledges she can be a tough boss, but she trusts Jada. She agrees EJ needs to go, but not until they know for sure they have someone who can replace him. Jada confesses that she already spoke to Belle who agreed to take the position if offered. She talks her up and Paulina agrees to offer her the position. Now EJ, on the other hand, he’s going to come after her, but she says bring it!

Station: Belle tells Shawn that she appreciates his vote of confidence and reminds him that if she takes the job, not only will they both be in Salem, but they’ll be working together. Is he ok with that? Shawn thinks they’ve been doing an ok job so far of being civil, so he says yes, do it.

Townhouse: Tate continues to apologize, saying it doesn’t have to change anything between them. Holly understands that Sophia has her whole future mapped out and that doesn’t include having a kid before she graduates high school. Tate asks if Holly is ok with him taking Sophia since he’s her ride? She says I guess I have to be.

Square: Amy continues to grill Ava about Sophia and Tate, just as Sophia comes up behind her asking what’s going on? Amy says she was just having a very interesting conversation with her boss and wants to know what she’s been hiding. Sophia and Ava exchange glances at which point she realizes that Ava didn’t say anything so she “confesses” that when she was studying at Tate’s a few weeks ago he kissed her. Since Tate and Holly are back together, she doesn’t have to worry about kissing. Mama Choi isn’t buying it and thinks Sophia is lying to her. Sophia says fine, you’re right, you shouldn’t believe me. Tate and I have done a lot more than kissing.

Ava suggests they move the conversation inside. Sophia confesses she had sex with Tate. Amy chastises her, telling her boys her age are only interested in one thing, and now he’s moved on with Holly. She says you could get a disease or be pregnant and they need to go see a doctor now. Sophia says too late for that and runs to the trash can to throw up.

Townhouse: Holly knows how strict Sophia’s parents are and they could never find out. That’s why Tate thinks they need to get this taken care of as quickly as possible. He again says this shouldn’t change anything about their relationship. Holly thinks this might be the universe’s way of saying they aren’t meant to be together. Tate says screw the universe, that he loves her.

DiMansion: EJ tells Rafe he has no right to come searching in his house without a search warrant. Oh right, you’re not on the force anymore and they don’t give those to you. He ushers him out the door. Fake Rafe is still listening at the door with a new glass. EJ comes in asking what happened? He tells him about eavesdropping and the glass falling while he was eating a croissant. EJ says then you know that was Rafe at the door and it would have been a disaster if they had come face-to face. He gets a phone call from Paulina who tells him he needs to come to Commissioner Hunter’s office right away. He tells Fake Rafe to clean up the glass and go hide in the west wing like he did last night and that when he returns, they’ll finish their conversation about him going back to Argentina.

As EJ exits the house, Rafe comes back over saying he knows EJ is up to something and he’s going to find out what it is.

Townhouse: Sophia comes back in telling Tate they can’t go. He asks why? Enter Mrs. Choi, who says “because of me.”

Station: Shawn thinks Belle will be a great DA, and they’ll work together maybe better than they did in their marriage. Belle thinks they should be proud of their run together. EJ arrives, greeting them and congratulating Belle on her victory this morning. He assures her it won’t be happening again soon and heads toward Jada’s office. Shawn says it may be happening now.

Jada’s office: EJ comes in and asks what he can do for them this morning? Paulina says nothing, I want you to do nothing for me anymore. I’m replacing you as DA effective immediately.

DiMansion: Rafe picks the lock and enters the house. He opens the doors to the living room and spots a robe on the ground. He looks around. Arnold/Fake Rafe comes down the stairs saying if EJ is going to stow me away, at least I’ll get some provisions. He walks into the living room and Rafe is standing there looking back.

Thanks ShaunP for filling in the teen conversations. I didn't bother watching those.

EJ is a character that needs resting for a while. Of course now he is going to extract revenge on Jada for her part in his unemployment, because that's what people do. Disgusting. I guess I'm just happy that the actor is having fun playing two people. This fan is not happy with the direction this is going.

Salem sure runs in a different universe. Just this year they've had a dozen, or so it seems, DA's. One would think the mayor might be the problem.

Thank you, ShaunP!

Another repugnant storyline would be Jada getting pregnant by Fake Rafe. Please, no.

Amy Choi is a force of nature. She also seemed to intimidate Ava, and that is not easy. She intimidated ME beyond the screen!

I don't think it will occur to anyone, least of all Rafe, that Rachel is sending the texts to Ava.

We know that EJ will take revenge on Paulina and probably Belle, too. Heck has no fury like a DiMera scorned.

Funny about Rafe's spidey sense.

This was a pretty good episode. Seems like it should have been a Friday.

I'm not liking Belle. She really went off on Shawn when I'm not sure he was referring to her sleeping with EJ.

Holly went off pretty quick too. But I did not expect Sophia to say they were going for abortion. Or for Sophia to tell her mom. Blows my theory of she's not even pregnant.

So Rafe & Arnold face to face. What will happen?

Shawn was absolutely referring to when Belle hooked up with EJ before.

In Holly's place, you can understand why she was upset, to see her boyfriend with the girl he had sex with, when he said he was going to visit his grandparents.

Of course now he is going to extract revenge on Jada for her part in his unemployment, because that's what people do. Disgusting
Couldn't have said it better myself. If Arnold was acting on his own and EJ was trying to help without exposing his own past crimes, that could have been a good story. I guess re-Ron never thought of that.

Well I'm going to call it now, Amy Choi is the worst guest of the year. At least Konstantin took out a mobster and was swindling a boozer, two mildly interesting things to do as a soap villain. "Concerned throwback mother" would have been out of place in 1980.

Today’s episode reminded me of the line from the “Music Man”: “We’ve got trouble, folks, right here in River City.”

EJ has double trouble — losing his DA job and the arrival of Fake Rafe. As Stefano would say, “Elvis, you fool.”

Tater Tot has trouble in the form of Mother Sophia whose social values are straight out of the nineteenth century. If only Jeannie T. was around to help her embattled son (Brady is useless).

Paulina could be in trouble if EJ seeks revenge for his ouster.

Fake Rafe could be in for trouble now that the real deal knows he’s alive and in town.

Thanks, ShaunP. Enjoy the rest of your vacation time.

Holly needs to be careful because it looked like her "girls" wanted to pop out of her dress.

I enjoyed Belle and Shawn talk once he apologized for sticking his foot in his mouth.

According to Tate, he and Sophia only had sex once. Could her baby daddy be someone else?
I would suggest a DNA test, but it's Salem and those tests aren't very reliable.

Poor Sophia. Her mother is very strict. I'm surprised her parents let her work where alcohol
is sold.

Happy New Year, EJ. It looks like you're out of a job.

I don't really like anything about this teen storyline. I hate them making the mom so jerky. A mom upset her daughter got pregnant would be fine but this is over the top. I was happily surprised at how Holly handled this eventually. I thought for sure she'd just storm off, possibly before she even found out what was happening, and we'd be subjected to that boring stuff. I'd prefer not to have the story but they could do a decent one with all of the real concerns parents and kids would have. No need for any caricatures.

Also how old is Dougie supposed to be? I assumed mid twenties or older. I didn't think too much when they were initially talking about going to this concert since they met at a family thing. Then it just struck me as odd when Holly acted like he was some high school kid and Tate might see him as another guy.

Also I'm really sick of people acting like a DA is someone the mayor can high and fire whenever.

Oh, boy, we sure got trouble.......right here in Salem city.....trouble with a capital T, which rhymes with D.......and that stands for DUMB. A quality affecting several of our Salemites. It also rhymes with P for Patch, D for Dougie, B for Brady,

Thanks for the summary for this dud of an episode.

I'm just glad that the FakeRafe reveal to the real Rafe wasn't dragged out. I guess I can only hope that they won't do something awful to Jada or Rafe. And I definitely don't want EJ going after Paulina or Jada. I don't think expect him to go after Belle except in *that* way, of which I'd approve. I liked them the first round, and thought they didn't get enough time. Her and Shawn-D are boring, and she's cheated on him so many times it's unbelievable he would go back for more.

Paulina is annoying. I like the actress, and the character has some good episodes, but it's just too much.

The teen storyline really feels like one of those "the more you know" announcement things. The storyline, especially with Mrs. Choi now involved, feels really outdated. It would make more sense if this was airing 20-30 years ago. Now it's as ridiculous as it is dull.

Sophia's mom is living in the dark ages. I don't mind looking at 2 Rafes, but WHY????? Please do something with Paulina. The longer she's around the more obnoxious she is. Oh, and Holly's dress was disgusting.
Amy Choi (Sophia's mom) is a badly written caricature of a conservative Christian parent.

Amy Choi: "Did you kiss him?!"

We don't know, but they made a point of saying Holly turned 18 on Christmas Eve. Dougie could be anywhere from 18 to 58.
Doug III being 58 would be a more interesting storyline than fake Rafe. If he was that old, he'd need to be an immortal or a mutant to look as young as he does. Unless he's wearing one of Kristen's flesh masks.

(Although I don't think Doug III could be 58 unless he's actually Dougie LeClair and he was lying about being the son of Dougie LeClair.
