Brady is on his tablet in the Black-Evans townhouse when Belle walks in asking why he’s home so early? Brady says things with Ava didn’t go as planned.
Ava reads the text asking how her date went? She responds with who is this? And the text response is wouldn’t you like to know?
EJ loudly walks into the DiMansion living room and startles Kristen, who is texting on her phone. She dramatically chastises him for scaring her and being loud, to which EJ wonders what she’s up to that he caught her doing on her phone.
Jada wraps presents in the Hernandez kitchen when Gabi walks in saying she hasn’t started shopping yet. Jada notices Gabi is dressed up and she says she’s going out for drinks and gets interrupted by a phone call before saying with whom. Shawn is calling to tell her that they tracked down Hattie but she wasn’t there when they arrived.
Leo is looking in the mirror wearing the Horton necklace, talking to himself about how he’d rather keep the jewelry than help out Dougie. A knock at the door reveals Rafe, who has a present for him - he pulls Hattie over to him.
Kristen says she’s always hiding things from EJ. “Blood is not equal to trust,” a term Kristen thinks Stefano coined after the many times EJ stabbed him in the back. EJ says he has his own problems to worry about - someone just royally screwed up his case against Mark Greene.
Brady tells Belle that he lost the Nutcracker tickets. She asks why he didn’t buy another pair and Brady explains they were sold out so decided to watch a movie. Then the wifi went out. Belle says it seems like someone was conspiring against them.
Ava gets another text: “too bad about the Nutcracker.” She says “Kristen.”
Jada tells Gabi she thought they were ready to close the case by questioning Hattie about the cupcakes but that won’t happen since she wasn’t there. Gabi wonders if Hattie got wind of them closing in on her? Jada suspects her brother may have gotten to her first.
At the Salem Inn, Rafe brings Hattie into Leo’s room. Leo praises Rafe’s PI skills and tells Hattie it’s time they have a chat about Body & Soul. She agrees, and then proceeds to blather on about how she wants things in her contract, that she doesn’t know how they used her image and likeness to show that she wasn’t dead after the elevator scene. She won’t step foot back on set until she gets everything she wants, and she knows he wants her back on the show because Rafe told her.
Leo just looks puzzled at her, then turns around glaring at Rafe who shrugs his shoulders. Hattie continues her demands and Leo tells her she’s not wanted back on the show as Charlemagne, an under 5, background, or anything, then calls her Lady Whistleblower. And now she looks confused.
Gabi is confused since Rafe told her Leo hired him to find Lady Whistleblower. Jada explains that Rafe thinks Lady W and Hattie are one and the same so he was tracking Hattie down on his own. Gabi asks what the downside is to having Rafe find Hattie and doing the heavy lifting for the Salem PD? Jada says it depends if it affects their investigation.
EJ tells Kristen how Belle swooped in and defended Mark Greene just as he was about to have him locked up for 10 years for attempted murder of Chad, but now he’ll be lucky if Mark serves a full 18 months. Kristen chides him about another loss on his “heretofore impeccable record” as DA. He wonders why he expects empathy from her and she laughs saying she’s just teasing. EJ says he will enact revenge on Belle, and Kristen will help him.
Brady and Belle talk about how Kristen could have easily sabotaged the date with Ava after all of the things she’s done in the past, like using masks to impersonate other people. He says they have no proof though, at which point Ava shows up and enters saying Kristen is after them.
Kristen would like to know how EJ wants her to help? He would like DiMera to stop paying Belle for her consulting in Hong Kong. Kristen doesn’t see how that would help her. He explains that she is back in Philip’s orbit since she represented him in the Titan case and could be feeding them DiMera secrets. Kristen counters that she could use Belle to learn Titan secrets. EJ says then how about the fact that she’s the sister of your ex and wouldn’t it be nice to get some revenge on Brady for rejecting you again? She says she has other fish to fry when it comes to Brady.
Belle & Brady read the texts from Ava. They’re convinced it’s Kristen. Brady says he needs to confront her and leaves.
Gabi tells Jada about how she and JJ are going to meet for drinks but that it’s not a date. Jada asks for more details and learns that Javi was the one who made it happen by taking Gabi’s phone and responding to JJ’s invitation. Jada notes that since JJ made the offer, to her it sounds like a date. Gabi protests, saying they were over a long time ago and he’s just in town for the holidays so just probably wants to catch up. JJ arrives at the door, comments at how great Gabi looks and asks if she’s ready for their date. Jada smirks.
Hattie and Leo continue talking past each other, both getting more confused. Leo makes his accusation that Hattie hacked his computer and shared secrets through the Lady W column. Hattie says the only thing she uses a computer for is online shopping and a game, that she writes all of her own letters by hand. He accuses her of wanting revenge on the show, and she corrects him by saying she put a curse on the show, that getting revenge would be stupid. She begins to leave saying it’s been a big misunderstanding. Rafe stops her and says he’s placing her under a citizen’s arrest for trying to poison the cast and crew of Body & Soul. Hattie swears she didn’t do it.
Gabi introduces JJ to Jada, who tells him she’s heard a lot about him and that she understands he used to be on the force and that if he’s planning to stick around, there’s a place for him at the Salem PD. He thanks her as Gabi returns and they leave. She gets a call from Rafe who tells her he has a Christmas present for her. She says let me guess, Hattie Adams.
Ava tells Belle she doesn’t think Brady should go alone to see Kristen. Belle isn’t worried about that since Brady can handle himself. She is concerned about Ava being in the middle of all of this if she gets involved with Brady. Ava again says she’s not afraid of Kristen and asks if that’s really the reason Belle is concerned, considering the horrible things she has done in the past to their family? Belle says she’s more worried about the woman who isn’t in her right mind now.
Brady storms into DiMansion and comes at Kristen with everything that happened. She says maybe it has something to do with hanging around a mafia princess that the date was a bust? EJ sips his drink watching it all in amusement.
JJ and Gabi are at a table at Small Bar. He tells her he was surprised to get her text as she seemed tentative when they left. She says she wasn’t sure if he was being serious.
Jada is waiting at the police department when Rafe drags Hattie in. They bicker over who got there first, with Jada letting Rafe know that Shawn could have made an actual arrest. Rafe leaves, asking her to make sure Mayor Price knows it was him that brought Hattie in. Jada tells Hattie they have to talk, to which Hattie says she gets a phone call.
Belle tells Ava about Kristen meddling with Chloe’s attempt to rekindle her relationship with Brady. Ava once again reassures Belle that she can handle herself and isn’t worried about Kristen.
Brady threatens Kristen saying that her actions will push him further away from her. EJ jumps in and says while we’re making proclamations, tell your sister to stay out of my cases. Brady says “or what?” then tells them he’s enjoyed his time at the House of Horrors and he’s leaving. EJ comes at Kristen saying it’s obvious she sent those texts after everything that happened earlier.
Leo does his usual external monologue giving us his recap of what just happened with Hattie. His phone beeps with his Lady W alerts. He checks his phone and reads that the column says Lady W is NOT Hattie Adams.
In the interrogation room, Jada begins asking Hattie to walk through her day on November 18. She says she has no idea. Belle interrupts saying she’s representing Hattie.
Rafe enters with a peace offering but Jada isn’t having it. She tells him that if Shawn had gotten there first and had the chance to arrest her, Hattie maybe wouldn’t have been tipped of and clammed up. She says his Christmas present sucked.
