34:30 minutes. Zero flashbacks on a day that begged for them.

Townhouse - Marlena has received flowers for her anniversary along with a note from John promising to be home to celebrate with her.

Maggie is looking at Victor's portrait. Sarah comes in and wishes her a happy anniversary. She has a stuffed elephant for Maggie.

Back to Marlena. Kristen is at the door stalking Brady. When told he's not there, she barges in and plants herself on the couch to wait.

Brady and Johnny are setting up a baseball game. They chit chat about Johnny's faux pas at his birthday. Johnny wonders where Tate is.

Tate runs into Holly in the square. Credits.

Maggie is confused by her elephant. Sarah explains that ivory is the standard 14th anniversary gift. Maggie looks sad. She talks about her anniversary last year where Konstantin comforted her with the fake tablecloth. He thought he could win her over with gifts. She could never give her heart again. Sarah points out that she already has, to Victoria. Maggie notes that Victor's namesake was born on the day of his funeral, and put a spark in her heart. She is the reason she looks forward to every morning. Sarah says the elephant is from Victoria and has her voice in a recorder saying I love you Nana. Sarah wonders if it's true that elephants never forget. Maggie says she will never forget her amazing man.

Holly and Tate note that both their grandmothers have anniversaries today. Tate is off to play baseball. Holly tries to leave.

Johnny can't believe that Tate is a senior. Brady jokes that he went from 8 to 18 overnight (haha). Brady has Eric to thank for the time he gets with him now. He would have lost ten more years with him. Eric is the best brother ever! Paul pops up and begs to differ. Excitement all round.

Kristen paws at the flowers and wonders if it's her birthday. Marlena corrects her and tells her that John is out of town. Kristen mocks her absent husband and Marlena slaps her hands off the flowers. Kristen asks if she liked Rachel's cookies? Marlena would have preferred them direct from Rachel. That's what Kristen is here to discuss with Brady. A knock at the door and a startled Marlena opens it to Belle.

Maggie has made tea. Sarah is in pain but doesn't want meds. They make her groggy and she wants to be present for her mom. Maggie says that Philip was wrong to block the transfer of Titan. She doesn't care what he says about protecting Victor's legacy. Maggie thinks Victor would agree with her. I somehow doubt that.

Julie arrives with doughnuts. Doug has a cold and can't come. He's been feeling down because of the Abby situation. Chad was betrayed in the worst way. Maggie wonders who the woman was? Julie tells her that she's the granddaughter of Konstantin. Maggie and Sarah react. Maggie asks the mother's name and when told it was Catharina, realizes it's the same one that John supposedly killed as the Pawn. Julie says John killed nobody. Catharina survived and had a family. Maggie says John must be so relieved. Sarah points out that Victor is also exonerated. Maggie can let go of that guilt. Maggie looks long and lovingly at Victor.

Brady is thrilled Paul is there. They can't have a baseball game without their star. Johnny says he once struck out 4 times in one game. Brady says Paul being here will be a great surprise for their dad.

Holly grouses about Tate sleeping with Sophia and departs.

Kristen greets Belle as her "future sister in law". Belle is not impressed. Kristen asks about Belle's husband, or is it ex husband? She can't recall their current status. Belle says nor do I feel compelled to share that with you. Marlena tells Belle that Kristen has been perched here waiting for Brady to come home and won't leave. Another knock at the door. This time it is Andrew.

Maggie knew who Victor was when she married him. Then Konstantin stirred up doubt and guilt. Sarah says Konstantin was playing her and probably knew his daughter was alive all along. Maggie says his grief was real and now they know baseless. Victor died for nothing. Julie is sorry she upset her. Maggie is glad she knows Victor was innocent. Holly arrives with her Sweet Bits bag. She is morose about Tate. He's with someone else now. They are done for good.

Tate shows up and greets Paul. They all want him on their team. Paul asks about lacrosse camp. Tate says it's a long story. Paul confides that when he gets home he is planning on popping the question to Andrew.

Andrew is asked if he knows Kristen? He knows of her. Kristen thanks Andrew for all the help he gave Dimitri. Andrew is not interested in talking with her. He has a message from Shane about John.

John has been called to DC on an important case. Kristen is just appalled he is missing his anniversary. Marlena tells her off, this is none of her business. Kristen zips her mouth. Andrew apologizes to Marlena but he does have a gift from John.

The baseball game is done and Johnny might have hit a ball once. They talk about the engagement plan. Paul is a bit nervous because of his last wedding to Sonny. He hopes that there will be no hitches this time. They talk about John coming to gay pride in his tie dye garb. Brady wants to stop and see Maggie on their way home. Tate is not coming as he doesn't want to run into Holly. He tells Brady he's staying with Sophia.

Holly tells Julie she broke up with Tate. She can't ask him to take her back again. Julie says they have all lived that story in their own way. Sarah notes that she and Xander wrote the book on breaking up and getting back together. Maggie cautions that they are not to continue to be experts in that field. Sarah says it wasn't that long ago she wanted to keep the man that is now her husband as far away from her and Victoria as possible, and now she can't imagine her life without him. And she would not want to.

When Julie was Sarah's age she burned her face in a fire and walked out on her husband. She could not imagine Doug loving her like that. She was able to get past that and get him back and they just celebrated their 49th anniversary. Holly asks if Doug was her first love? Julie says no, her first love was a teenage boy who ran off with her teenage best friend. Holly can relate.

Julie says she, Maggie and Sarah have all had their hearts broken and lived to tell the tale. Maggie tells her that she never thought she'd love again after Mickey, especially not with Victor. She was twice blessed. And is so grateful for the life she had with Victor. Julie is grateful for her marriage too. Holly says they have lifted her spirits. Julie reminds her to never say never.

Julie thanks them for letting her crash the party. She departs with Holly, promising to give Doug kisses from the "two hot honeys". Maggie tells Sarah it was a nicer day than she thought it would be. They grip hands.

Marlena opens the box. A charm for her bracelet: All my love, all my life, John. Tate comes in with Paul, and he and Andrew are thrilled to see each other. Kristen asserts her presence, complaining that she is being rudely ignored by all. Where is Brady?

Brady arrives at the K-Mansion and Sarah pushes doughnuts on him. Brady has an anniversary gift for Maggie. He tells Sarah that Kristen advised that the serum is just about ready. Sarah says since Xander has been stopped from handing over Titan, the news about the serum doesn't mean much to her. Brady wants to know what she is talking about?

Kristen is told that Brady made another stop. She is supremely irritated by this and storms to the door. She wishes Marlena a happy anniversary, without her husband. Chortling like a witch she departs. Once she is gone Paul drops to one knee and proposes.

Tate is on the park bench looking pensive. Holly sees him and walks away.

Julie, at home, looks at a photo of her and Doug. She picks up a tray for him with a rose and walks to the stairs.

Brady has gone. Sarah thought he knew what Kristen was demanding for the serum. Maggie says he obviously did not. Sarah goes to see Victoria. Maggie thanks her for a lovely day. She looks at her rings, then at Victor, and says Happy Anniversary, my love.

Andrew emotionally accepts the proposal. Belle, Marlena and Johnny applaud. The phone rings and it is John. Marlena puts Paul on the phone. They miss him but they have exciting news.

Brady strides into the DiMansion. He wanted to see Kristen for himself. He just finished telling Tate what a wonderful and selfless thing she is doing. Kristen purrs that her ears are ringing. Brady says too bad it was all a lie.

Belle is talking to John. She hands the phone back to Marlena. She looks at the group and tells John they have great kids. And great grandkids. They have built a wonderful family.

Credits, with Happy 59th Anniversary, Days of our Lives.

Thanks brisbydog. I normally don't mind Kristen but she was not well used today. Not sure what sort of baseball game can be played with 4 folks. Maybe unseen towns folks joined in. I agree that some flashbacks might have been nice. Normally they are annoying, scenes we saw minutes ago or yesterday.

I feel it will be a rough ride for a few weeks. Not sure I'm ready to say goodbye to Doug or John.

Thank you, brisbydog!

True about our WANTING to see certain flashbacks, especially for John and Doug.

We all are dreading their exit storylines, and I hope they are worthy of the actors' many years on the show.

Odd that we never saw one flashback to the night Johnny and Joy spent together. That's okay, of course, but they usually show them when someone is thinking back to an event they regret, like cheating. If they did. As I wrote before, we have no real proof except that he took off his ring. But why would he go to her hotel room if not for THAT? To play chess?

That was sweet of Sarah to give Maggie the stuffed elephant.

It is was so sad for us hearing only Marlena's half of her conversation with John and being told by Andrew that John was going to DC. Lovely charm for Marlena's bracelet.

Kristen stayed too long. She should have left immediately. Marlena was gracious enough to let her stay a while.

Loved Paul's proposal. I really like him and Andrew together.

It was funny when Sarah told Brady to eat all the donuts. A temptation for everyone.

I got a baaaad feeling about this. But it's time to address it.
I agree that some flashbacks might have been nice.
Add my voice to this chorus. No reason to be stingy with residuals since Drake Hogestyn (John) was planning to return.
But why would he go to her hotel room if not for THAT? To play chess?
I'm hoping the story goes like this: He thinks he cheated, she doesn't confirm or deny or is never asked directly, or talks about "the night we spent together" and speculation runs wild, but he's eventually cleared from sex. BUT Chanel still has worries because, as you say, he must have INTENDED to cheat.

Do we know when they will have Doug and John's final episodes?
Do you mean when are the actors' last scenes going to air? As Brisby noted, both Bill Hayes' (Doug) and Drake Hogestyn's (John) last scenes have already aired.

If you mean when are Doug and John's funerals going to air? We don't have airdates for those yet.

They both were set to occur end of Nov., beginning of Dec. I believe Doug is supposed to be Dec. 3rd. I doubt John's will occur close to that, but they had it written and filmed before Drake Hogestyn (John) passed away, and Drake gave his approval. Hard to judge being they film so far in advance, so tho it was filmed before Drake died, heck, we would not see it for several months.

yeah, I figured they would not want to have them close together. Heck, Doug (Bill Hayes) passed away in January, and they took nearly a year before his character is laid to rest. So.......same probably for John Black, meaning several months before it airs.

Thanks brisbydog. I normally don't mind Kristen but she was not well used today. Not sure what sort of baseball game can be played with 4 folks.
Robin, thanks for bringing back long ago memories. I played four-person baseball as a child on dull summer days when we happened to be short of players: only left side of the field in use; two fielders per team; no pitching - just toss the ball up and hit it; all fielded grounders and fly balls were outs; no base running. It was hardly ideal, but it worked.

It was nice to see everyone back. Just a few comments: people were too nice to the vile Kritter; Maggie should have recalled how rude Sarah was to Victor when she first arrived; somebody should have mentioned to Belle that Vivian needs a lawyer (imagine her reaction).

Thanks, brisbydog.

Flashbacks would have been great today with Julie talking about her fire accident and Maggie talking about her
marriage to Victor.

Great seeing Belle, Andrew and Paul on today's show.

I wasn't surprised John is on a mission since he can't be seen. And Doug isn't feeling well.

Kristen shouldn't have been at the the townhouse at all.

I'm glad Brady finally knows about Kristen and the serum.

Paul proposing to Andrew was nice to do on 59th anniversary of the show.
