Chad and Abby marriage

Can anyone tell me if Chad and Abby were married when she got killed? If so, wouldn't they still be married by law if they found her "undead"?
I'm confused about having to remarry. Isn't it a moot point?

DrBakerFan had said in another Salem case that being dead ends the marriage, even if the deceased turns up alive and well.

But real life laws/rules never apply when it comes to a soap.
