While I do like Chad & Abby together, I am very disappointed in Chad's behavior since he noted something was not right with his wife. He knows she went to see Kayla, talks of how "off" she has seemed, swears Stefan did something to her, but does he try to help? Stay with her to keep an eye, to note anything? Talk to Kayla, another doctor? No.......he spends all his time coddling Gabi, assuring her of how he will work to free her, etc.

Gabi has a ton of people who supposedly care about her, the fathers of her child, her brother, Rafe, her mom where ever she is, Kate, Eli, JJ, and the list goes on. Not that any of them showed up, but right now Gabi should be in a cell, not in the courtroom, Rafe should be with her. But no, it is Chad, same guy who gave half the poison antidote that was to go to Abby, to Gabi.

And yes, when he thought Abby was dead, did not take him long to fall into bed with Gabi, did it? So, although Chad claims to love his wife so much, does he really? Or does he still have a thing for Gabi? What is that saying, "have his cake and eat it, too"??

Right now, Chad thinks something very wrong with Abby, but has not done a thing about it, and stays with Gabi. At least Gabi has one friend to support her, but it should not be Chad.

Makes me think that perhaps the Chad/Abby marriage is not going to last much longer.

I don't know that they've given him time to do something since he discovered something was off with her specifically. I think the total time passed in the last week or so of shows is just 2-3 days, right, since they got back from Hong Kong? They got back, Abby testified, and then maybe it was the next day that Gabi was found guilty, and now maybe today was the next day. Now, Marlena is going to be missing or whatever they'll do with her.

Still, I don't know how this is going to go over when the truth comes out and everyone realizes that Abby (even if it was the alters) killed Andre and framed Gabi. Given what aired today with Abby's hidden feelings about Chad "cheating" on her when he thought she was dead and how jealous she is of Gabi, I don't know how that gets straightened out between the women. And who knows how far the Stefan thing will go. I smell a pregnancy or something that makes that an even bigger mess even if Abby stays with Chad and gets help.

As far as Chad moving on quickly after Abby's "death," everyone in soap land moves on quickly. However, I do think this love triangle isn't done. Since they've debuted the new Abigail, I've liked the chemistry between Chad and Gabi better, so I wouldn't be mad. I like the new actress, but I don't think she has the same chemistry with Chad as the previous one, and it's harder to carry through the feelings I had about the original Chad and Abby storyline since it was the other actress. I do think he loves Abby, but he's in a loop of rescuing her and taking care of her. The best writing in the whole storyline is that Abby's "Gabby" is the one who knows how to take care of herself. The motivations for the split make this multiple personality drama as believable as it can be.

I hope this doesn't go on much longer, I HATE the idea of Gabi going back to jail, and all that Marlena said about Stefan taking advantage of a mentally unstable person was highlighted today. It's disgusting, and he's the one who deserves a whack on the head from a fireplace poker.

the fathers of her children
Did she have an extra baby while I was in a StefanNo-induced John-Black-style coma?

It took several months actually. Abby left town in Jun, 2016, and though she wasn't declared dead for a few weeks, it was well into November (after we knew Abby was coming back) that the trite Gabi/Chad nonsense started getting pushed on us by the horrible Bushes. (Not to mention the horrible editor that kept inserting false footage into Days.) Though the writing was so dreadful at that time, it's easy to forget some of the details.

Meanwhile I agree with your main contention. I would speculate that as this was being written/planned they were looking at an exit strategy for one of the actors involved. Not to mention perhaps the show itself. And Ron C (head writer Carlivati) seems to love writing "break up make up" stories. So he distances Chad and Abby with StefanNo and Gabi, then slams them back together. Boring.

Maybe I was momentarily thinking of Sami when I wrote children, lol...I meant child...fixed it....

It is very predictable and that is always boring!

Well, let's just say my Acme kit for busting People of Prison has just arrived and I just happen to have a plane ticket to Salem. Which is just a coincidence, of course.

On a serious note, I have to say I completely agree with you, Poirot, that it should not be Chad who's waiting with Gabi. It should be Rafe, Eli, JJ, or even Kate. It seems like they are positioning Chad to be Gabi's hero and I don't like it one bit.

I appreciate that Chad *as a friend* wants to help Gabi, but the way to do that is to figure out what's going on with Abigail, getting her the heck away from the Nameless One and getting her the help she needs. That should be his focus in his story, not holding Gabi's hand where there are many more suitable people for that.

I agree that Chad shouldn't be Gabi's hero right now. That should be her family (who she has had her whole life), or Sonny (with whom she shares custody of Arianna), or someone who actually has an established connection with her, rather than someone who (via revisionist history) has known her since high school.

Chad needed to stay with Gabi just long enough for her to tell him that a return of Abby's mental illness is the most plausible explanation for her lying under oath and framing Gabi. Now it's time for Chad to go find out what is wrong with his wife.

I also think this spells the end of Chad and Abby's marriage. But not immediately. Abby's gonna have to spend a good amount of time in the loony bin. Chad will conclude that she is a danger to Thomas. Then Chad and Gabi will reconnect.

I am suspecting that Chad will walk in on Abby/Gabby and Stefan getting intimate. But he may already have confirmation of her mental break. However I don't see this topping Abby trying to set Ben on fire.
