that light snow that was falling yesteday, finally stopped late evening, as I said really very lightly. Was nice to wake up to NO snow falling...........which did not last long...Yep, around 8 it began, only much harder this time. About 10 minutes ago lightened up just a tiny bit, is adding up out there, the gravel around the house is now covered, as are the sidewalks and street. And the guy who plows and has the snowblower for the sidewalks is away on vacation. LOL. Definitely not leaving the house today, and kicking myself as was offered a trip to the store yesterday, but put it off til Thursday, and probably gonna still be snowing then. Boo, hiss.

Good morning.....last night on our news the "high front" that brought us our very cold days was moving your way Poirot..... we today only get the benefits of it moving east we will have a nice warm day.... as in the possible 50's.... before the next cold front drops by..... it's nasty and the "S" word was mentioned for the weekend..... so not looking forward to that..... maybe it won't happen...... she says foolishly.....
Vinnie is off to day care and I will soon be cookie baking and holiday decorating....

37 and tranquil. That will change soon enough with high winds expected. That really blows :rotfl:

Poirot: I hope the snow stops and stays stopped! You didn't know how much you would get, so don't beat yourself up for not going to the store.

Robin: We are also due the 50s, but not til next week. I hope whatever snow you might get is minimal. Enjoy the baking and decorating. I can already smell those cookies:)

Everyone enjoy your day!

Hmmm not cold here. Current tenp 76° F
**Ronda ducks to avoid snowballs and random objects being hurled at her.**
Rainy off and on. I have to drive to do after school pickups. Hope it wont be raining then

rf.... when I lived in Arizona the winter posts of cold and snow always made me pleased I wasn't dealing with that.... I do miss the pleasant AZ winters.... coming from California, the winters were foggy and cold.... a wet damp cold, so as far as I'm concerned anything is better than damp cold.....
or so I thought till I met freezing wind.... this may take some thinking on what's worse..... breeze cuts through your clothes and shivers......
be safe in the rain....

It was in the 40s this morning at walk time, but it didn't feel nice with the wind. It's sunny and
in the 60s now. It will get colder tonight. Warm up over the weekend.

Poirot, sorry you missed your trip to the store. Have a grocery list ready if you get offered again.

robin, is Vinnie going two days to day care this week or did he miss his usual Tuesday?

rf, good luck missing the rain later.

Wilde Woman, enjoy the calm day.

I hope everyone has a nice rest of the day.

It was wet and cold all morning here, sprinkles. Sun is out now and not much wind, so that's nice regardless of the temperature, which I have not checked but the low was in the 50s* overnight, after being 31* the night before. It's giving a whole new meaning to rollercoaster this year--back and forth almost daily.

I worked Tuesday and HB doesn't like being alone so the two "boys" did the pal around part and the BEAST headed to day care today.... I've finished decorating and the amount of stryrofoam package bits are everywhere, it's a two vacuum day!!!

lunch then cookie time.....

Currently.......we are at 10°....Wanna trade, Kris? LOL

Okay, Robin, or anyone else who knows about these things.....We've been outside looking at something very bright in the sky toward the west-northwest. It has colors--blue or green and red and maybe others, and it appears to move at times, up and down and sideways, though at times is still and disappears. I watched with binoculars because I can't see it much without them. The rest of my family can see it without them but they also took turns looking with the binoculars. They also got it on their cell phones. My son said before he came in to tell me, he saw a couple of others in the northeast.

Colorful objects in the sky are usually referred to as "sundogs" (also called parhelia), which are bright spots appearing on either side of the sun, caused by the refraction of sunlight through ice crystals in cirrus clouds, creating a rainbow-like effect; other possibilities include auroras (northern lights), iridescent clouds with rainbow-like colors, or even bright planets like Venus, depending on the time of day and conditions.

Key points about colorful objects in the sky:
  • Sundogs:
Most common, appearing as bright spots beside the sun, often seen when the sun is low in the sky.

  • Auroras (Northern Lights):
Dramatic displays of colored lights in the night sky, caused by charged particles from the sun interacting with Earth's magnetic field.

  • Iridescent clouds:

Yes, we get Sun dogs lots. Don't look for long, can ruin your vision.
