Good morning.... folks....earlier I received a text as in before 6 am.....telling me the event today had been cancelled due to rain!!! I got out of bed and sent out a notified the club members the event was cancelled and then went back to bed and back to sleep.... one of our club members who doesn't do emails, she wants me to text..... sent an email asking it the event was cancelled an hour after I had sent the it's cancelled email..... no idea if she got either email.
Yesterday afternoon was fun, went to the post office mailed Christmas cards, went to a grocery store to get chunky peanut butter, then got my hair cut as the wait time was FINALLY below 90 minutes, while I was getting my hair cut my across the street neighbor called to tell me her brother is having issues with the TV at her house. He has just moved in with her and he did something to the tv. In typical man fashion he just kept pushing buttons. I don't use DISH so I couldn't fix it, I called DISH and spoke with technical support and in a couple of minutes fixed the problem. Then to step mother's to fix her issue, took HB and Vinnie who jumped on her and ripped a hole in her skin..... patched her up and left her house at 8pm we as I had an early morning and hadn't eaten dinner yet, settled for a bowl of cheerio's and the the news then off to bed....

Now today I will start making the biscotti..... and it's raining it's perfect...for cookie preparation....

Happy Sunday....

It's cloudy and damp today. I hope to make pumpkin bread and get envelopes typed for
Christmas cards this afternoon.

robin, I hope your day today is better than yesterday.

Robin, I know there are some people you do things for and don't expect any return from it but wow, you could probably go into business solving issues for people. There are so many people, especially older people, who always need little things done and have no one to help. I could think of a dozen things myself--things that don't fit into any particular category of service help and aren't big enough projects to get regular service businesses to come.

Kat, I hope your baking and envelopes went well.

Cookie Day.....I'm not a big cookie eater but homemade chocolate chip cookies are always appealing. Oh, and lately I've been thinking about homemade Sand Tarts or Pecan Sandies. Seems like there's another name for them. My mother used to make them. I have too but not in a very long time.

O.C. too true about needing someone to fix something, or help with something. My youngest lives about 4 hrs. south of here, is manager & maintenance of a building housing mostly elderly in an assisted living situation. He says someone always needs something, and was just warning me about those supposedly removable little plastic hooks. He says they take the paint right off the wall, when removed, better to do small nail holes (Christmas decorations I was asking about, as I don't seem to have the spaces like I used to have for everything to "hang". He said he is always doing "patching" for some area in a unit where the hook just peeled the paint right off. He has tried to warn the residents...
No wonder so many just do without.......lol. All the little service jobs, which are not worth a $150 service call. LOL

We have always hung Christmas lights.... the year HB was in rehab for his double knee replacement I climbed the ladder and put the light up. I was terrified and that was weird given I've worked theatre and worked on the grid (the area above the stage where the lights and other stuff is attached) The next year I needed to have the lights put up and I called a place, I was told the minumum fee $200, I have one strand of light, our minimum is $200. Okay thank you for your time.... then on Next Door I found a guy who puts up lights for people provided you take an angel off an angel tree or make a donation of food etc to help those less fortunate..... I make sure to have the lights tested and out ready to be hung... takes less than 5 minutes to do.... we talk for the rest... he recently got married, his second surgery for his elbow which he broke on the job was successful... he loves the supervisor on this job and the BEAST loves him...... it's great...

The dark unlit things are cactus...

We always had lights on the roof.......but........he gave them away when we moved to town. Our lst year here, NO ONE had outside lights or decor, nor our 2nd year, but last year there was one with roof lights, and one with lights just around the front door. No idea what will happen this year. Will have to look outside tonite. Being we are off the beaten track, who knows. One house put lights on a lovely pine tree that sits in front of their house. Front of mine only has a driveway and then a street. LOL Across the street is big grassy area, a fence behind the grassy area, and the backs of WalMart & Slumberland, lol. Their lights NEVER go out, year round. Want to know how hard it is to see stars in the sky?

Good evening everyone. This has been a busy busy week.

I spent Wednesday and Thursday evenings, all day Friday and Saturday, plus most of today at the American Legion. The Auxiliary ( meaning 5 of us, ages 69 to 89) put on the kids Christmas party today, and I'm completely worn out.

Monday night is our Auxiliary party. The same 5 will be setting up for that. We'll probably get stuck with all of the clean-up too.

I'm so far behind at home...no cookies have been baked yet and cards still aren't sent. At least all of the family gifts were mailed out Friday. 4 more days of work then the frantic cookie baking will begin.

rs, I'm sorry you don't have enough people helping out with The Auxiliary. I hope you can get new members to
help you. Enjoy the party tomorrow night.

robin, your Christmas lights look nice.

OC, baking got a little complicated, but it got done. Most of the envelopes typed.

Poirot, I hope you had a good day.

Boy! I can name them! Getting things off high shelves, crawling to get things under a bed, move bigger furniture so you can clean once in a while, run some errands, and lifting things in general just to name a few. Thankfully, my grandson has been great at doing all these things for me.
Poirot, I didn't know that about the command strips. I've been using them so I'd better quit.
I haven't had any problems!
