After an insanely long 18 hour drive..... we made it to "chilly" Phoenix where it was only 55 degrees out..... got our room, moved the basics from the car and fell into bed.....it normally doesn't take that long but we had a really long dinner to accommodate the setting sun...

off to see Stepmother later today..... then home for an early bedtime, exhaustion and the need to get up and out early Monday for the short end of the drive....only 7 hours...... on son sent text messages they are in Williams AZ they are taking the kids to see the Grand Canyon today then on to their family Christmas with my daughter in laws family.... The other son texted he was going to the airport to pick up a friend and her kids and they were going to have Christmas today as the ex gets his kids Monday- don't be late it's Christmas week- afternoon....

I hope everyone has a great Sunday.......

It's sunny this afternoon and in the 50s. I walked later this morning since it was in the 20s.

I spent time cleaning the house. I hope I have time to vacuum the living room. I got the stove
top clean, the kitchen floor and even washed cloths. I plan to go outside and get more
cement out of the yard.

robin, I hope your visit with step mom goes well and you get rested before more traveling tomorrow.

Wilde Woman, it's a good day for you to stay and get rest before another busy week.

I hope everyone has a relaxing rest of day before the holiday week.

Was reading an article in the Sunday paper about caroling! Got me remembering having done that when we lived in Illinois. Those that participated enjoyed it so much, and the neighborhoods were just so delighted and happy. We got Christmas cookies, sometimes cupcakes.......(not everyone, but people are so kind......) when we began doing it, just the adults, parents from the PTA.....but the next year kids wanted to go. This was members of a school lst to 6th grade. Needless to say we'd get the older kids in some families, trotting along. The kids never got tired, were thrilled when it was their turn to ring some doorbells. We did for several years.........going to different neighborhoods so thru those years they were all covered. When evening ended....well, sometimes you just did not want it to end.............and you always had to sing carols everyone was sure to know........besides Jingle Bells..you know, like Silent Night, O come all ye faithful.....Santa Claus is Coming to Town, lolol. Was a lot younger then, couldn't handle the walking, or cold and snow these days. Ha. Did it for several years.......but you know, eventually, my kids were in Jr. High or high school...... Will say, tho, I started it, lots joined in, but as usual, no one wants to "take charge". I mean big deal, pick a date (evening always) meet at the school. And a few parents, on their own, would be waiting at the school when we returned, hot chocolate & cookies for all. LOL Good times back then.

Poirot, that was done a few times over the years in our tiny community, where we had to drive from house to house because homes were few and far between. I only remember going once, when young, getting served hot cocoa. Such fun. I know some others did it at other times. I wonder if people today would even take the time to stop and listen or pay attention. Would probably be looking at their cell phones while waiting for the carolers to get finished.
