Good morning everyone. Yep it is freezing here. With the wind chill, it is well below zero here. Our high temp today will be the same as that in Deadhorse, Alaska! (in the far north) Interstate 80 is closed for miles on this end of the state due to multiple crashes east bound and west bound.

Stay safe if you're having this deep freeze, too.

Ahhh, just plain regular temp is 15 below zero this morning. Fireplace is on. Electric heater also on. Furnace is on of course, but could not handle the bitter cold by itself, needed help. Inside the house it is 68..........tho thermometer set to 73. Well, I upped it to 75 but that did not help at all. Just could not win against frigid temps. Sun is coming out, but doubt it can help. Man, it is FREEZING!!!

Sunny, windy and 38. Funny how our moods are so affected by the weather. While we need rain, the last two days were very gloomy, and I felt it. Even though I am indoors, seeing sunny skies definitely lightens my mood.

redsquirrel: You sure got a dose of the chill in your area. That is awful about the crashes.

Poirto: It sounds nice and toasty in your home. I hope temps warm up for you.

Happy Thursday to everyone!

Baking cookies..... and heading to a school in an hour or so..... I get to sit in the office and not be able to answer questions while the rest of the staff has bus duty.... but hey it's a quick dollar and why not.....
it's sunny and warm for the time and place.... as in 48.... which is higher than normal per the weather guessers.....

HB has just now started contacting his Medicare guy to see about changing plans.... something about the Dec 7th cut off date seems to have slipped his mind..... I just shake my head and proceed..... He was all upset when I was in contact with my Medicare folks in October.....what a fool I am....

I have managed to keep a Poinsettia alive for three years.... it died this past summer.... the hard part for me making it red for the Holidays. It had to be kept in a box in the dark for a month...

Happy Thursday....

Wilde Woman, I know what you mean about moods and weather. Having lived a lifetime through perpetual seasons of drought, I still have to say rain and clouds can be dreary and depressing, even when rain is desperately needed. In those situations, I usually thoroughly enjoy the first couple of days of clouds and rain but when it continues much beyond that it begins to seem gloomy and requires a conscious decision to embrace the whole event and be glad in it.

Robin, I hope HB gets his foot in the Medicare door, even if he is late in his attempts. It's too bad a little bit of your energy and drive can't rub off on him. Being more laid back myself, I've always wondered why energy couldn't have been distributed more toward a happy medium. Oh well, keep up your good work. I know it can't be easy for you to sit in a job where there is nothing to do but twiddle your thumbs!

Squirrel and Poirot, I don't know how people live with weather like yours. We do have events like that, rarely, here in north Texas, but usually years apart and they don't last but a few days when they do occur. Of course, when they do, it's pretty devastating because our systems are not prepared for it.

It's partly sunny here and will reach 60*, but the wind seems ferocious, even though it is out of the south! They say it's 25 mph but it seems more like 40. It has to be pretty strong for me to hear it inside my house and I heard it all night long. I was up at 5:00 for an hour or so, then went back to bed until 8:00. Moving like a slug, not even keeping up with a snail. Late breakfast, now it's time for lunch.

It's sunny and close to 60 this afternoon. I put my plant out since it's a sunny day. Next week, is a mix of
highs and lows. It's nice seeing the sun.

This morning, the concrete was put down on the driveway that needed fixing. I'll be back in my garage
on Monday. Sat is rain and my car will get a free bath since neighbor home tomorrow. Tonight is a
Madrigal Feast the high school choir is doing. I'll be home just in time for bed.

rs, enjoy the party today and good luck getting your baking done while you're off.

Poirot, sorry to hear you're cold. I wear leggings inside and a bathrobe when I feel cold.

Wilde Woman, I'm glad you're getting a break from the rain.

robin, I hope school work went well.

OC, it freaks me out when the wind gets high in my area. It makes such a noise.

I hope everyone has a good afternoon.

Holy cow, all you guys in the 60s......and here I sit at 1 below zero currently. Tomorrow we hopefully will be staying a bit ABOVE zero, and then bingo, the next 4 days after into the 20s, even 30s, along with SNOW 4 days in a row. LOL.
But then, I am really up north, less than 100 miles from Canada, so, this is normal I guess. LOL. When folks see Wisconsin for me, they think Milwaukee/Madison, near Chicago. Nope. Heck, even my tons of relatives in Milwaukee thought they'd see a lot of me, when they heard I was moving to Wisconsin. Ha.

LOL, wrote this around 1:30 this afternoon, did not realize I had not posted it.

Poirot, I'm always telling my family or friends about my friend who lives "way up in northern Wisconsin," and how cold it is there. Though I've never been to Wisconsin myself, I have visited my friend in Michigan, and also my husband used to tell me of how he had lived for a while in Green Bay before we were married. He also lived in Canada for a while. Too bad I didn't meet him a little sooner. I could have had the experience of living in those places too, temporarily. (Proctor and Gamble was sending him all over to consult on installing a new--new then--type of paper making machine for Charmin Paper). As it turned out, we did go and stay in California for a few months the year we got married, for that same reason. But I'd already been to CA numerous times before that so no big deal. I am glad I got to spend nearly three years in far northeastern PA though. It was beautiful and I made some good friends and enjoyed all the things that were new to me. Still, I'm even more glad I didn't have to live a lifetime there. It may not have been as cold as upper Wisconsin but it was too stinking cold for me! And the summers were too humid. Whoever heard of rain in the summer? Haha!

O.C......my daughter has lived for some years in Houston, my other daughter in southern GA. Both born and raised in Chicago area, & lived there several years after college, but now are southern gals....complain about how cold it is here at 65°. They shiver, wear jackets, & are stunned seeing sleeveless, shorts, etc. on the locals when they feel so cold if visiting here in spring before July. Heck, they are so far away it is rare to visit anyway.
