At 6 a.m. was 19° above zero, and at 10 a.m. it went all the way up 1 degree to 20°. LOL and that will be the high today, as for the rest of the week, each day will be a bit cooler than the day before. Yeah, ol man winter is being nice, doing it slowly, but he is taking over. It is snowing very lightly. Yesterday, the forecast said 35 today.....guess not.

My son will be driving up tomorrow night, and we will be going out on Thursday for dinner.

It was 28 when I woke up this morning. My friend and I went out at 9 to walk since it was colder. I won't be able to
walk late tomorrow. I'm working at the little library.

Since I didn't do the summary today, I thought I could sleep later. I woke up when I heard a beeping noise. I finally
realized it was my reminder to take my osteoporosis pill. I do it on Tues since I'm home.

I just came back in after raking leaves out the ditch. There's too much water sitting in it. I did what I had to do and
came in. After dinner, I'm going back outside and work around the mailbox. When they were chopping up the driveway,
a lot of cement dust went all over. I noticed the other day the dust is turning into cement since it's been damp. I won't
get it all up, but it will be better. Tonight another high school reunion meeting.

Poirot, I hope your son will take you shopping Thanksgiving so you won't have to do that later.

robin, will be having company on Thanksgiving?

Muzzaman, that sounds like a yummy dinner.

I hope everyone has a nice rest of the day.

54 and raining but starting to clear up. Pretty good soaker this morning, thankfully. Keep 'em coming!

Great image, Kat! I have no cake here, not even a cupcake, tainted or otherwise:rotfl: Maybe a cake of soap. Love the pictures of the calves! You sound very busy, enjoy all your activities.

Muzza: Your menu sounds delicious. What is a German Bee Sting Cake?

Robin: I guess THE BEAST is a fickle creature, but you laid down the law!

Poirot: Stay warm! Nice that you will spend Thursday with your son.

Everyone have a great day, with or without cake!

Nice

Good afternoon everyone. Finally out of bed, and waiting for a text that my pneumonia meds are ready to be picked up. Doc called them in after talking to me first thing this morning. I'm definitely going to miss him when he retires.

Trying to catch up reading posts.

Congratulations to Daysd on your engagement! So happy for you. Thank you for taking us along on your many adventures in life since you were in high school.

The Holidays are rough when you have missing family members.....I don't care that my dad is gone... I'd ignore him and his wife if he were still here.... but Thursday we will have "green jello salad" that my mom made for special occasions..... On Christmas Day we will have leg of lamb and a special creamed spinach dish that she made for Christmas. My kids dislike each item but take some for Grandma Mary.....

rf I wish I could say that the years will make it better, but it doesn't......you just learn to cope better outside in public by people who think that after the burial you should be fine....

and I'm still saddled caring for my stepmother as her family stepped away when she married my dad.... it's still a mystery why her care has fallen to me.....

All true, robin. And for me, living up here, so far away from any remaining family, have spent many a Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, birthdays, alone. Tis hard. Two nieces live in Missouri & Kansas, plus one in GA.... nephew in GA, another in AZ, Nearly all the cousins have passed away, as has my husband. A daughter lives in Texas, another in GA, a son in a nursing facility, and my youngest about 300 miles away. We are spread far and wide, makes it difficult to bring any of us together, for sure.

It is so good of you, Robin, to look after your stepmother, since her immediate family refuses to do so. Does she have any idea why they don't seem to want to take any sort of responsibility. ? Probably a very long ago something or other. You are a good soul, stepping up to the plate. Blessings my friend. Not easy, I know.

we have our ideas..... my dad who was a terrible terrible person.... was into get rich quick schemes.....perhaps he talked her family to invest in one of his ideas..... or maybe he just was terrible with them as he was with his biological kids

After seeing that last night I did poke around the internet for some recipes for the pie.... I didn't find anything that made me want to change my desert plans for tomorrow night....
That being said when visiting Australia we had pumpkin soup and other pumpkin dishes as it was considered a vegetable and not something to put into a sweet pie....
I would try a dill pickle pie if someone made it for me.... but I'm not willing to make one myself.....
