11/13/24 - Donuts and World Kindness Day

Cloudy, windy, 40! Dead leaves, all brown and curled up, and blowing everywhere, we in down in low 30s at night. At least no sign so far of that S word..........tho it is in forecast for the middle/end of next week.........who knows?
Deer hunters always hope for it Thanksgiving week. They love seeing tracks in the snow while out, as the turkey roasts in the ovens. LOL
I am waiting til early afternoon for a run out to the store, hoping perhaps the wind will die down, and the temp go up a bit.
Watched the show.......Was nice to see JJ for sure........loved how he stood up to EJ.........LOL.

Good morning. Sunny and windy here, will be in the 70s*.

Wishing for everyone to be giving and receiving kindness.

Sorry snow season is upon you, Poirot. Yeah, hunters enjoy it and apparently they also enjoy rain as well. Last weekend some of them had a fine time driving their big 4wd vehicles through the muddy pasture roads, after all that rain we had. I know it's not their fault the roads are muddy and I don't expect them to not come because of it, but they don't have to enjoy tearing up the roads so much! It's part of their entertainment.

Wilde Woman, people in your area would probably welcome some mud right now, just to get the rain. I know that feeling too.

I've got a new problem now. Yesterday afternoon I encountered a rattlesnake out close to my little guesthouse. It was medium size, maybe three feet long, and well fed. After flaring up, with upper body standing up like a cobra, while rattling alarmingly loud--even for a hearing-diminished person like me--and glaring at me viciously, it swirled around and rapidly slithered into a hole going under the tiny house, which the skunk dug last winter and I've been trying to get sealed up ever since. It's especially disturbing because I don't know how many more snakes may be under there (you can't see underneath), and my family will be coming in a couple of weeks for Thanksgiving. I called my mower guy, who also captures snakes, this morning and he's going to come take a look when he gets time and see if there's any way he can deal with it. I think he smokes snakes out sometimes so I'm hoping he can do something like that.

Good afternoon everyone. It was a very cold 26*F when I left for work this morning. It wasn't much higher when I took the work car to my co-worker this morning. She had to go to a conference at Penn State so dropped me off back at the office on her way to the interstate.

Taking a break from entering kids names and their info in my vision screener. I've put in 365 so far today, and my fingers are stiffening up. Trying to get as much done in advance as I can since I'll be off the next 2 weeks. I want to have everything ready to go to school when I get back.

Oh no, rattlesnakes scare the heck out of me. You're still much braver than I am, OC.

It's cloudy, windy and in the 60s today.

I won't be doing much this afternoon since I have sinus pain.

OC, good luck getting rid of the snake.

Wild Woman, you're so kind starting the topic today.

Poirot, I hope you got out this afternoon.

rs, good luck getting things ready for your two week vacation.

robin, sorry to hear you're outside in the wind. I hope you took a stocking cap.

rf, I'm glad you're having a quiet day so far.

I hope everyone has a nice rest of the day.

good evening. gosh, it gets dark so early now....by 6 p.m. it is pitch dark, which shows you how dark already at 5:30. Never got out today, had a phone call from son, visit from friend across street .....we both have same health ins. company....and we both heard our local clinic and the hospital would no longer accept them.....however a call there learned that yes, they will (evidently they worked out the problem..( seems th health company was very slow on paying the clinics & hosp., sometimes taking 6 mos.!!!!! surprising for such a huge company......

Robin, wind, ugh!

Poirot, so glad you got a positive answer on the insurance. Also glad to hear you got a phone call from your son and a visit with the neighbor, even if it was about insurance.
The sun just now went down completely here, around 5:40, so still fairly light but it will be gone in a hurry now that the sun is down.
