If you have clear skies coming up will be a pretty cool meteor shower..... they were great in Arizona..... so far haven't caught these in Kansas..... but some of you may live where it's visible...

On the me front, busy busy day, the BEAST is sequestered away at day care, now to the bank the local Tag office for the car, Target to return some stuff then home to vacuum and dust before it's time to pick up the BEAST again..... and oh ya.... get cookies started.....

Hope your Tuesday is busy enough you get to the end and go WOW that went by fast....

It's sunny today and should be in the 60s later this afternoon.

Yesterday was a busy day at church. They're cleaning out more things they don't want. My trunk had the
usual recycled items. The back seat was full of paper. I had to use the cart twice to get to my car. I left
one box behind since I was tired and no more room. I got most of it taken to recycle place yesterday.

This afternoon, I need to plant the rest of the pansies in the front bed. Then plant grass. I started in an
area yesterday I want to finish today. If it doesn't rain tomorrow, I'll water area on Thurs.

robin, I hope your day went smoothly with all your errands.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Yet another Red Flag Warning here. While it is very sunny out, the wind is intense. I went downstairs to mail something and had to hold my hat lest it cross the street by itself. Worrisome that no significant rain is predicted anytime soon.

Robin: I got tired reading about your day!

Kat: Ditto for you and your activities!

Wishing all a great Tuesday.

very sunny morning, tho cloudy now................and the big wind, too. Knocked the outside weather station down, leaves are blowing all over, you can never really rake them up, as when you do, next day they are all over the place.........and NO, would never set fire to a pile.....too dangerous, been way too dry for too long. was 29° this a.m., but has risen up to 35° now.......

Hello everyone. Finally made it out of bed, and came to work today. My pneumonia meds plus a prednisone shot last Friday took everything out of me over the long weekend.

Went to a new school that just opened this year in my southern county. It is for children ages 6 through 22 (when you age out of school in Pennsylvania) with severe multiple disabilities. It is now where many of the children go when they complete the early intervention preschool classrooms where I've screened for years in my 3 counties.

We're also in a drought here in northwestern PA and northeastern Ohio. There have been many grass fires as well as some farmers' fields burning.

I can't wait to go home and back to bed, but have a little over 2 more hours to go.

Oh Squirrel, I'm sorry you've been sick again. I hope you're home and in bed to rest by now. It's interesting that PA has a school for disabled kids to continue until age 22. Is it a live-in place or just day classes? It's a real problem for people with a disabled child to know what to do with them once they're grown (age 18 and beyond). I'm thinking specifically of the ones I know who are physically okay but mentally/emotionally delayed to the point they aren't able to go out in society and function on their own.

Poirot, I can't imagine burning a pile of dead leaves. It would almost guarantee disaster. For most of my life we had no way to dispose of our household trash so we burned what was burnable in a metal barrel. Then we made a cube-shaped "box" made of heavy hail screen or hardware cloth, which was somewhat more manageable but still would let sparks and tiny bits of paper blow out. We'd have to stand there with a water hose while it burned. Then the county began to impose burn bans as drought became more frequent, so we had to come up with other ways to deal with our trash.

Sexton, anything to report on the niece's husband? Are you giving up your days off to fill in or otherwise help out others?

Wilde Woman, your weather conditions almost sound like somebody roped a big portion of Texas and dragged it up your way. Hope you get some relief soon.

Kat, I've been wondering about your present gardening activities. When you plant pansies this time of year do they bloom now until a freeze or do they stay dormant through the winter and come up later? I've seen pictures of pansies blooming in later winter or very early spring, I think. Also, I didn't know grass could be planted now. What kind of grass are you planting?

Robin, thanks for the information about the meteor shower. Maybe I can remember it on my grandson's birthday. Too bad they won't get here until a few days past the 18th. It would be nice if I had their company to join me in watching the sky. My traveling son's family, now in Florida, will be starting in this direction at the end of this coming weekend.

Robin, never mind being busy enough for this day to pass fast. Every time I turn around it's the weekend again, with yet another week gone---and I don't even have to be busy for that to happen! I puttered around outside some this morning. Now I'd better go out and finish up outside before the sun is gone. It's already getting low in the sky.

I don't know what's going on here today but I've been hearing loud airplanes all day long, even before I got up this morning. I'm wondering if atmospheric conditions make it sound louder on some days or if there really are more planes in the sky over my place today. Hmmmm.

I got the pansies planted. They usually last until cold weather and come back in the spring.
My petunias are still blooming. The mum's flowers are turning brown. The cone flower is
blooming after it died. I trimmed back plants before the rain and since the weather is crazy
they're coming back. Salvia and part of the lantana. I saw a small bee. A neighbor's cat
came by when I was planting grass. She didn't want me to stop petting her.

rs, sorry to hear you got pneumonia again. Feel better soon.

OC, I read you can plant grass in fall. I got a small bag of mixed grass. It has several kinds
that like shade with fertilizer. I can plant again if I need to.

Wilde Woman, I hope you get rain soon.

rf, good luck training the new guy.

Poirot, I hope your area gets moisture soon.

When we lived in Illinois, having purchased a new house, yes, we planted grass in the fall. the seeds soaked (we watered) into the ground, then went dormant over the winter, but boy, come spring ........beautiful grass. Neighbors had planted rye, which comes up quick, but is no where near pretty, and more grass needs to be planted. we really had a beautiful yard, as we planted I think it was called blue grass...anyway, it was permanent. (chicago area)
Haven't had to do that up here, as was already grass and more grass. LOL
