Robin, as adorable and cute as Vinnie is, I found out yesterday that I would never be able to live with him. As I was going into the grocery store (very small town, small grocery store) there was a dog about the size and color of Vinnie tied up just outside the door. Oh my, he barked at me as hard as he could. I stopped and spoke to him gently for a moment, hoping to calm him down, but no, he barked all the harder. He wasn't trying to get loose or move around, just barking. Inside, I learned he was doing that with each person who entered. Being such a small town (only grocery store in town) I imagine the workers and others knew the person/shopper and the dog so he wasn't hurting anything or being hurt. But when he was barking at me I was thinking, "This is what Robin gets to enjoy day in and day out."
Kat, it's nice you don't have allergies and can sleep with windows open. I've been turning my a/c off at night and don't have to turn it back on until mid-late morning. In fact, it's a little too cool in my house for a couple of hours but I've resisted turning on the heat so far, knowing I'll have to switch it to a/c later in the day. So this morning I went to my storage building and brought in a little electric space heater to use for just a little while in the early morning. Better than heating up the entire house.
Wilde Woman, seems like maybe you'll be getting some free entertainment, depending on when soccer season runs. I have a friend who'd been watching the high school football games from her house until this year, after they just build a big new school building right smack between her and the football field. A few leaves are starting to fall here--brown ones of course. I'm looking out all the time and enjoying the green for as long as it lasts.
Poirot, your high is my low. Going for 96* here today. There's no rain anywhere in our forecast for the coming week. Wind changed from north overnight to south today, though not blowing hard. Still it seems to have stirred up my allergy. It's no wonder. One step outside my yard and there is ragweed for as far as one can see. There must be something out there that the deer like to graze. I've had three coming up for several days now. Looks like two adult females and one younger one, though not a little baby. They should invite all their friends to come hang out. Less than half a mile in any direction and there could be hunters. Bow season opened this week so not nearly as many hunters as there will be come November, but still, there are some, mostly on weekends though.
