Today is the day the mowers come, they come on Wednesday. Today however Vinnie had chosen to bark at the mowers. Why I have no idea, normally he ignores the mower men, but today they have annoyed him so he must bark every time they drive by.

The blister around the skin thingie removal grows larger and uglier, I may bandage it just to protect it from being bumped.

While vacuuming and dusting yesterday I bumped an old lamp from my dads. It has a Tiffany shade on it. My stepmother was going to toss it because one of the lights didn't work the lamp is most likely near 100 years old. They paid $500 for the shade when they visited Italy YEARS ago, I have no idea where the pole and lights came from originally but hunny bunny rewired it and now it works like a lamp.. now I have it anyway he had to do some minor work on it after being bumped, it's fine now but we had to reach behind the television to the collection of horrors that are the electrical cords somehow in the process I managed to change the timers on the lights so they came on this morning at 6am!! That was fun....

I hope your Wednesday is wonderful....

It is cool today, 64 and overcast with bursts of sun here and there.

Robin: Sounds like Vinnie is in a mood! Hope the mowers do a good job. Definitely keep the blister covered. The Tiffany shade sounds lovely.

Let's all make the most of the first Wednesday of the month.

I'm sorry, Robin, I couldn't help bursting out in a laugh when I read about your messed-up timers turning the lights on at 6 this morning. I know that wasn't at all funny for you but somehow it just struck me how so many silly things happen to me, and apparently to you and others, day in and day out. Little things that still can be annoying. Sometimes I talk to the offending objects, "Why did you do this? It wasn't necessary. You didn't have to do it, so why would you?"

Yea, for HB wiring the old lamp and keeping it going! After my parents died I found an old black lamp that was in our house while I was growing up in the 1950s. It has the texture but not the shape of the old "pineapple" lamps. The shade was missing but I remembered it well and was able to find a new shade, not like the old one, but appropriate for that lamp. But the lamp hadn't been used in decades and didn't work. By that time my husband, who had always done things like this for me, was disabled and unable to deal with it. So I got online and found instructions for wiring a lamp and rewired it and am happy to still be using it.

Wilde Woman, 64* is what I had when I first got up this morning. It will get above 90* here today though. Enjoy your nice weather. I hope it stays cool for you. A lot of people here start to get cranky when the temperature is still getting to 90s* in October. I don't mind it because the mornings are nice and I don't have to get out much and I don't look forward to dressing for colder weather.

Speaking of getting out, I must make a move. I have to go to town for a prescription and a few groceries. I almost never wait this late to get started but it's the town across the river, only takes 30 minutes to get there, and there's no Walmart or big supermarket for me to wander around in--only a small grocery store. I just have to figure out my lunch. Don't really want to eat out at any of the places over there and I had a late morning snack but I'll have to see what my stomach and head tell me later (not eating when I need to is a major migraine trigger for me).

Hope your blisters start healing soon. Those can be pretty nasty sometimes. Doesn't help when it's on a spot that is easily bumped. The bandage is a good idea. Vinnie and the mower. As though the sound of the mowing itself isn't irritating enough, barking at every pass would make the experience complete--for you anyway, I don't know about Vinnie!

Sure is windy today, wow. And this a.m. was surprised to see a lot of leaves on the lawn, just everywhere. Heck, like I mentioned, No fall color this year, leaves drying up, and falling off the trees. Was 55 when I woke up, which is warmer than yesterday for sure. We have crawled up to 65, don't know if we will hit 70 like the forecast says. So windy!!! But sun and blue sky, tho lots of clouds. Actually, forecast said "partly cloudy". lol

I left a window opened last night. I closed it this morning since it was in the 40s. The house is still cool
even with the sun out and in the 80s. Friday will be the hottest day. No rain in sight.

I bundled up when I walked this morning. I should have worn less when going to Bible study, but it
was cool inside the building. Study time this afternoon.

robin, that's a beautiful lampshade. Be careful with the blister. I was told to put Vaseline on mine
twice a day.

Wilde Woman, how are your pigeons :)

OC, I hope your trip went well.

Poirot, must of the leaves in my area are brown. It's been awhile since my area had rain.

I hope everyone has a joyous rest of the day.

That is a beautiful shade, love it!

Went out for mail, as I said, very windy. Saw something laying on my lawn, went to check. Lady next door has all kinds of different Halloween decorations out on the yard, this was one of her two 4 ft. tall scarecrows. Took it and put next to her door, which has a covered walkway, and walls on either side, so wind won't get at it. And then I see 5 ot 6 other small things blown over on the grass, blown over onto the sidewalk, so put them also next to her front door. No, she is not home, & if I put them in my garage, she'd think someone stole them. LOL.......really very windy. with gusts even worse.

I could have watched a lot more of that squirrel. How funny! Hope he didn't kill himself!

That is a beautiful lamp! So nice that you've been able to keep it. The base doesn't by any chance have a night light in it, does it? My dad always kept an old floor lamp next to his chair (it had belonged to his dad). The shade wasn't anything so lovely as yours but the base looked something like yours and it had a night light in it. When I was a child that fascinated me to no end. It was such an unusual thing, at least in my world then, but really, I've never yet seen another one made like that.

Poirot, what a disappointment, to miss out on the fall color. And all that wind, ugh!

Kat, I bet your house was chilly if you had windows open at 40*. Brrrr.

My trip to town was fine. I had several errands, was gone longer than I expected. I'm ready for bed!
