Good morning, cloudy, dismal one here, 44°, not sure if it will rain or not, tho forecast says later today, maybe!
Oct. 12th was the day Christopher Columbus discovered America, and was celebrated as such for so many years............until the lazy Congress needed another long weekend instead, so Columbus day became celebrated on 2nd Monday of October instead.
It really was nice to get a day off school during the week at times.........but these days, all those mid-week days off are turned into long weekends, instead of celebrating and honoring. Wonder if in the future, we will have to celebrate our birthdays or anniversaries only on a Monday? LOL Well, at least, so far, they haven't messed with Christmas, New Year's, or Thanksgiving.

Good morning....
And to be very picky Columbus never actually "found" America, he did find land in the Bahamas, however.....And it was already inhabited and didn't really need to be discovered, then conquered but it was....
It will be sunny and 93 today as we wisely choose to sit outside in a football stadium watching high school bands from all over mid Kansas compete...... last year when we went it was a balmy 43 for the high.... hope next year it will be between those too and actually pleasant....

Happy Saturday to all....

Anyone see my yellow ball? We were just playing with it, I can't find it anywhere.....

@Robin....yes, I know that.....Vikings were first Europeans to do so.....Am sure we all have heard of Leif Ericson.. however, the fact remains that Columbus was given the credit, even tho he thought he'd come upon a new passage to India........and thus, with a few changes, came the name given to native Americans.

Am too hungry now, time for breakfast........see you all later.

Morning all. Did anyone see the Northern Lights over the past few nights? Here, we have been treated with the .most amazing light shows that I've ever seen.

A beautiful morning and sunny. It's going to be a nice Thanksgiving long weekend.

A bit of a tough week but not unexpected. Our friend finished off his last round of chemo for the third time and it's not working. He's been given less than a year to live so we are focusing on quality time with him and his 4 year old. We went for a hike on Friday and had some really heartfelt chats about what's to come and he will be doing the assisted suicide when the time comes. No more chemo, just enjoying being in the present.

Tomorrow for Thanksgiving dinner we're having him and his son over for dinner and am about to season and marinated ribs to smoke, Maki g a jalapeno honey corn read, grilled broccoli and coleslaw.

A HAPPY CANUCK THANKSGIVING TO YOU ALL!!!

Another sunny day close to 90. Cooler weather this week.

My flowerbed needed a drink and it would be too hot this afternoon to water. Instead of pulling out
my hose, I took buckets of water out this morning before 7. Then I got ready to do my errands.

Muzzaman, I missed the lights. People saw them in my state, but I don't have camera to get a look.
Sorry to hear about friend. Enjoy your weekend.

robin, enjoy the band event.

I hope everyone has a good rest of the day.

Muzz, it seems some people down this way saw the lights, but only by taking pictures.

Robin, cute picture of Vinnie. I can relate to his problem of losing something right away.

Sexton, Burnt Biscuit is a clever name, though a burnt biscuit wouldn't taste all that good. I bet it's a good place to eat though.

Going to reach 100* here today! That's a bit much for the almost-middle of October, even for here. Very sunny. Plenty for me to do inside if I'll just do it.
