I hope everyone will have a good day

Good morning kat and everyone yet to pop in.

At work, my friends and I used to take what we called "Mental Health Days". We all took the same day as a vacation day, and went together on a shopping trip to Pittsburgh or Cleveland to buy Christmas presents and splurge on lunch at an upscale restaurant that we normally would never go to. The current administration won't let us all be off at the same time.

Worked in a cute little old fashioned town in the mountains yesterday. It is the place where the US oil industry began with Drake's well in 1859. Most of the town is still from that era. The huge old mansions are magnificent. There are small shops right in town, but fast food places, gas stations, Walmart, etc. are all on the outskirts so the town's ambience isn't spoiled. Even the modern public schools and a college campus are on the edge of town.

I finally have a full day in the office. We finished up all of our northern county yesterday so I'm in the office today. I had scheduled in a make up day for today in case we had kids left to do, but luckily didn't need it.

Thanks for the post with the heads up about the northern lights. Saw it when I was catching up this morning. Hopefully I'll be able to see them. The shopping district starts a 1/2 mile north from my house, so the bright lights may drown out the display.

I had looked out at night and it was like someone threw a bunch of separate twinkling bright lights in the sky, could not imagine what that was............so thanx for the explanation.
Sun is shining.............we sure could use some rain, sure is dry.
Leaves are falling all over the place. tje big mums turning brown........fall is here, for sure., even if a bit later than usual. Just glad no white stuff. LOL

Good morning..... got up forgot I was the summary person today oops... so watched and got it posted.... hoping to see the lights tonight.... we'd be a good dark but my neighbors love leaving their outside the house lights on, so we will have to take a short drive for best chance....

being outside is always the best way for me to reset myself....

Another sunny day in the 80s.

I received my Covid testing kit. I got two boxes with two tests each. That's four. I got a weird
company name, OHC.

I hope I remember to check outside tonight for the lights. The best time for me is between 10 and 2.

rs, I'm sorry you can't take the same day off anymore with your co workers.

rf, I hope you're having a great day off.

Poirot, I'm glad you got to see the lights.

robin, I hope you can be outside since the weather is still nice.

I hope everyone will get to see the lights tonight.

I find it hard to believe the lights might be seen from here but I'll have to try to find out what time to look. May be futile anyway. We've had partly cloudy skies today for the first time in weeks. Don't know about tonight.

I loved that cow ghost clip from yesterday. :)

Sexton, I hope your day off is going good.

Kat, if it's possible for me to see the lights, surely you could see them from your location. What they're saying here is to go out and snap pictures toward the north, the see it on your phone camera. It shows up better on pictures than first hand. I probably wouldn't bother with that. Why not just come here and look at what someone else, like Muzz or others, got on their phone? A picture is a picture.

Robin, don't get me started on outside lights being on all night. It's called "light pollution" here in Texas. Nearly all the rural people have them now.

Poirot, at least you got to see a few sprinkles--of light, that is.

Squirrel, well fiddlesticks! Not good to take away someone's fun mental health day. That town where the US oil industry originated sounds so nice. It's fun to visit towns that have preserved their original character. A town in the next county over from here has a town with the original frontier flavor.

I found out my truck fix is going to be very expensive. Whole front end is completely worn out (brake pads, tie rods, etc.) and they haven't even found out what's making the engine stall. It's not doing it for them, wouldn't you know.....

For you alll..........I went out when it got dark, so between 7:30 and 8:30. I don't go outside when late, but WAS able to see via one window. That made me go outside, fortunately, not really cold. Time will vary for others here. I live up north, less than 100 miles from Canada, so am pretty far north. Can't do videos.........so cannot help in that dept.

And then, while I get to see northern lights........what I DON'T see are the various birds you all get to see. Honest, I have no idea why. Used to see hummers, robins, etc. when I lived by the lake. But even those with humming bird feeders out do not get much action. Don't see nests anywhere, either. Disheartening. Am guessing it is because of being town. too much activity, traffic, trucks, etc. etc.

I was able to see bright light between two trees, but no pink or purple. I found out you can't take a
picture a night with a tablet and I tried two.

Well, you did get some color, Robin. Thanks for posting.

I went out and looked. Didn't try to take pictures. Couldn't see anything. I think there were still some clouds. I got my binoculars and looked in that direction. Saw a light flashing off and on, like an airplane. It didn't seem to be moving like an airplane but it disappeared after a bit so I guess it was an airplane. Then I saw some other lights going off and on but it never changed so I'm pretty sure it was/is an antenna tower. In the far distance the sky was lighting up every little bit. Pretty sure that was lightning. I didn't seen anything with colors.

Tho I saw the twinkling lights on Wed nite, no such luck last night (thurs.) Maybe cloud co ver, don't know. Tried a couple times, gave up.
