1/20/2025 - Donuts and Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Good morning, all and a c-c-c-cold morning walk with Watson. Currently it is -20*C (-4*F) but......BUT.......by 2pm a chinook will have blown through warming up to 0-*C (32*F) and become warmer in the days ahead. Gotta love Chinooks.

It'll be a long week this week. Ugh......training......oh well. My manager is also coming to Calgary from Vancouver to spend some time working out of my office. March 31 is year end so he is going around to visit team members.

Have a good week all and stay safe.

It is 25 below zero F right now........was 30 below at 3 a.m. (Yes, hardly slept). It is 65° in the house, I have put the oven on, and a big pot of water, as tis only 40% inside here. Very cold, A weak sun, which is better than clouds. Hard to get warmed up, would have stayed in bed but potty calls, plus hungry, made coffee, didn't help even one degree. I hope the fireplace guy come today............Got you beat by far with the cold, Muzza....Whatever is causing the deep freeze....sure hope it vanishes soon.

Per the weather guessers the next two days will be the most challenging this week.... we are 13°F with snow this morning.....our high for the day is 16 so almost there..... goodie I guess.... We should be back to freezing by Wednesday as in the high will be 32° with the 40's by the weekend... Here's hoping they are correct.....
If I had my way we'd stay home but HB has a doctors appointment on the way west side of town..... I have to pick up my credentials for working the skating event this week downtown.... we will do the appointment then get the credentials.... the BEAST will have to stay home to cold for him to sit in the car guarding it.....

Happy Martin Luther King Day

I don't remember what the temp was when I woke up this morning. It was 19 and sunny when I walked at 11. When I got
home, it was 23. My area just got a cold adversary for tomorrow AM. It's going to be below zero with the wind in the AM.
It won't be a good morning going to church.

I took a break today when I did the summary and did some studies. I need to finish my Wed homework today since I'm going
out tomorrow afternoon.

Muzza, I hope your week goes well with your manager in town.

Poirot, that's too cold. I hope you've been able to keep warm. I use a space heater in my bathroom and warm up clothes.
Since the bathroom door closed during the day, it's the warmest room in the house.

robin, I hope you didn't stay out too long in the cold.

Wilde Woman, stay warm.

Today sounds like another good for a cup of hot chocolate. Enjoy
:)

Ahhhh, the fireplace repair guy was just here. He kneels in front of the fireplace, and in less than a minute he had the pilot back on, and in another 20 seconds.......he had the fireplace going. No idea what he did, and I was right there. He stayed for a couple more minutes to make sure, I guess, it did not go out again. He noted some knob that can be turned, I guess. Still no idea, but he said if any touble develops, just call, they are right here in town. Bet that was the fastest "repair" he ever did. Told him the manager had tried fiddling but then pilot went out. When i TOLD him how the the thermostat was set at 74, and yet the furnace just won't get there, and this morning was 66 in here........he was rather stunned. Told him that is why I rely on fireplace and it was hard to have it inoperable. Bless his heart, so glad he got here in mid afternoon, was afraid it would be 4:30 before he came. Just hope it is fixed! now.

With six extra people in my house, there's lots of chatter and activity in different directions. The two younger boys, though not so little anymore (6 and 10), are still playing a lot, mostly with trucks and such. This morning they found an old playset with doll house and little family figures left over from some of the granddaughters years ago. I had to laugh and thought of Robin and HB as I listened to their imaginary dialogue. The 6 yr. old, holding "somebody," kept saying to the lady, who was under the control and direction of the 10 yr. old, "Come over here, Honey Bun." Finally, the "lady," in some exasperation, said, "My name is Mrs. Sugar. Stop calling me Honey Bun!"

Cloudy, windy, and cold here. Somewhere a little over 30* (up from overnight teens and back down again tonight) so everybody's staying in except for the boys running out to the storage building (barefoot and without jacket) to look for different toys.

I'm so sorry for any of you who are enduring the cold!......I see your fireplace guy came, Poirot. So glad, sure hope that brings relief!

I was in the room while the sonogram was done.... no clue what was happening but he's not pregnant.
Our storm which was to be a light snow with no to little snow turned out to be a blizzard. What fun!! Of course we took the two wheel drive, van instead of the all wheel drive of the subaru.... because well MEN......
I got to the hotel and picked up my credentials... and now I am home avoiding the cold evil outside weather.....

Still waiting.....I am at what will be the second house for work. Not fully furnished yet but beds chairs and tv. I am going to my room after Miss Bebe gets here
