So.........tis 20 below zero outside, and 66° in the house. The fireplace would be a huge help, if it was working, but of course, it isn't. Put the oven on just a few minutes ago, it is just sooo cold in here, it seems. Truly hope you all are faring much better. At 6 a.m. I put the space heater on, it is small and now, hour and half later, not even one degree warmer! Gonna try and watch church service on TV, got to make some coffee. Take care, God Bless!

Someone pulllleasssee make it stop. Expecting 2-5 inches today, temps around 0 the middle of the week. I realize that some of you live with this weather more than I do, you have my deepest respect.

Kentucky does get its share of snow/cold. I use to love it. Getting older has changed that. A little at a time is fine, but this is enough. School hasn't been in session since before Christmas. Now it won't be until at least Tuesday, if then. I also appreciate the fact that being retired, I don't have to worry about getting to work (advantage of being an oldster). But I've had enough for this winter.

Thanks for letting me vent! Also thanks to the person that put this post in the correct place.

It was 17 when I woke up at 5. It's 15 now with sun. Temps will be lower tonight.

Yesterday, I put my bathrobe on since my hands were cold. I should have put in on
sooner over my clothes since I warmed up fast. I almost put gloves on too.

I'm leaving soon for Crystal Bridges. I hope they let us inside early to wait. People have
to wait outside until it opens. I'll sit in my car, engine off, if we can't go in early.

Nameless, that's a long time for the schools to be closed. I hope you won't get so
much snow this time.

Poirot, I hope you'll feel warmer soon.

Wishing everyone a good day.

It's an amazing and temperate 10 here or -12 if you are doing the Celsius thing... Vinnie took his sweet time finding a spot that met his fancy this morning.....If I had my druthers I'd be back whining about how cold 40 degrees in Scottsdale was.... and today is going to heat all the way up to 19!!
How thrilling....
I made a new dinner last night....beans, poblano peppers, onions, and spices....I washed my hands obviously before starting and after chopping up and placing into the pan the peppers.... but not well enough I guess because my eye itched shortly after dinner and it's still running now... just a gentle rub...and it was burning.... my lips were numb after eating but I blamed the coriander and cumin for that..... but it was just a meal for HB, he has had COVID a couple of times and his sense of smell and taste are gone.... he is so hard to cook for.... if he had his way he'd live on chocolate shakes.... does wonders to his blood sugars..... sorry for the rant.... really makes you want to cook.....

Stay warm everyone..... Peaceful Sunday to all....

I swear it may take all day into the evening before it even gets to 70 inside.

Unfortunately the only rooms that have doors are the two bedrooms and bathroom! kitchen, dining, living room and this little space where my desk is...........all wide open. an island counter is only a small one betweeen kitchen & dining, and a large wide "doorway" or entryway into this room. lol.......plus the sofa is all that separates the living room from the dining/kitchen area. Yep, one big huge space. If the fireplace worked it would be a huge help. So be it. Dressing in layers and very warm is what one has to do.....which doesn't help hands and face. LOL

My trip didn't go as planned, but I got there and was able to get a parking spot close to it. My tire low light
came on just when I got on the big highway. The light start flashing first and that freaked me out. I made two
stops to finally find someone put air in the tires. First guy, thought kicking the tires help figure out which one was
low. Nah. Anyway, the other place the man checked all tires and put air in each tire. The light stayed on all the way
to the museum. On the way home, I got off the highway early and came home a longer way. I stopped at Jiffy
Lube (oil places check tires free) since light still on. I don't think he put air in tires since he said they had too much.
It was mentioned the sensor might not be working. Once I got on the street, the light went out. Very odd.
Maybe the cold temps.

I enjoyed the special exhibit I saw.

robin, I hope HB enjoyed his dinner last night.

Poirot, I heat up water and hold the cup to help my cold hands.

When my tire light comes on I have to go to Costco to fill it up as I have Nitrogen filled tires. But even after filling the tires to the level the door says they are to have it can take a while for the light to go off. When the temps get above freezing check your tires again with a gauge and deflate a bit if too overfilled as that can wear your tires unevenly....

Cold weather sometimes makes my low tire light come on. Some of the newer cars tell you which tire is low but mine (which is not new) doesn't have that feature so I have to check each one to find which one is low.

Kat, I have to laugh at the guy kicking the tire. I've seen people do that. I guess he doesn't like checking tires and putting air in them when it's cold any more than I do.

You people are helping to remind me that I don't have it bad at all. Getting below freezing makes me feel grouchy. It was 19* this morning. I bundled up for church like I was going to the North Pole. Supposedly up around 32* by now, then back lower tonight. My son's family is arriving sometime between now and dark. I'm hoping my "no freeze" faucet where they hook up to water will not be frozen.

What happened today was bad for me since I was in an area I'm not used to find air. I figured it came on because of the cold,
because the light comes on with change in temp. But it never flashed off and on before. It finally stayed steady. Then when I
started the car again the light flashed off and on. My car was probably upset being out in the cold.

OC, I hope the faucet isn't frozen when your family comes.

well folks, our high today was 8 below zero, the house took forever to warm up, even with the space heater AND the stove oven..........which is off now. My next electric bill will be horrendus!
My son was here for the weekend...he got dinner to go for us on saturday..........left today.....been too cold even for ice fishing. we go down to 25 below zero tonight......and tomorrow. no break in this til WED.
